She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mal (Malachi Edward QUIGLEY) and her devoted parents, Caroline Kaiser WINTERMEYER and Alfred Carl WINTERMEYER and her much beloved brother and sister, John WINTERMEYER and Rita SHONIKER, each who nurtured in her the incredibly strong sense of commitment, love and compassion to others. Mary taught her children, John QUIGLEY, Ted▼ QUIGLEY, Caroline QUIGLEY, Meg▼ and Gerry HAWKINS, Therese QUIGLEY, Patrick QUIGLEY and Daniel QUIGLEY, that compassion for others is the greatest virtue and expression of a true love of God. HAGEMOEN, Stephen William (May 14, 1939-July 5, 2006)
Stephen William HAGEMOEN, son of Margaret (BUNTING) and Eilev HAGEMOEN, was born in Wells, British Columbia and at an early age moved to Burnaby, British Columbia where he graduated from Burnaby South high school. He left University of British Columbia with an electrical engineering degree and in his graduate year, married Judith, mother of his first two children, Karen (Rob) and Christine. Early in his career he joined Universal Dynamics, eventually became President and retired from the company shortly after its recent sale to Andritz Ltd. In 1971 he married Mary and had two children, Kirsten and Stephen James (Xuy). Stephen said at the end of his life that he did what he set out to do and "did it my way." He leaves his loving family, two granddaughters, Erin and Tara, brothers Eric (Myra) and Ian (Pat), two aunts, Joan and Alison, nieces and nephews, other relatives and many good Friends. There will be no service but a gathering of family and Friends will be held at the Executive Airport Plaza Hotel, 7311 Westminster Hwy, Richmond, British Columbia, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006. Surrounded by her family at home, Rose passed away on April 11, 2006, at the age of 43 after an inspiring two year battle with brain cancer. Rose maintained her dignity and unparalleled grace to the end. She leaves her maternal grandmother Emma SCHUSTER, parents Dietrich and Theresa SCHUSTER, brothers William and Richard, and sisters-in-law Betty and Anne as well as numerous relatives in Austria, including her godmother Herte KEINPRECHT. Her nieces and nephews William, Becky, Jackie, Lillian and Nigel will miss her very much. Her memory will be held dear by her cousins Danielle, Kevin, Kelly, Darren, Jonathan, Mikki and Shelley who have been important parts of her life. Rose maintained many close, long term Friendships throughout her life, many of whom were able to share moments with her near the end, including Lisa, Kathy, Iris, and Valerie. Aloving wife to Jim for 19 years, Rose will be remembered for her compassion and her ability to light up the lives of everyone she knew. Her love touched him in ways that will be impossible to forget. In her capacity as a pharmacist both in the community and at Women's College Hospital, and later as a departmental Director, Rose brought her professionalism and compassion to all aspects of her career. Her colleagues at Hoffman LaRoche Ltd. have been extremely supportive before and after Rose's ordeal with cancer. Special thanks to Lisa, Carol, Lorenzo and Susan. The medical community, including Doctors O'CONNOR, HAQ, MASON, COLE, as well as palliative relief and home care, especially Sosan GILL, all provided exceptional care for Rose.
