Daughter of the late Albert (1982) and May (PEARSON) GOLDRICK (1985) and loved mother of Gloria WHITE/WHYTE (GOLDRICK) Kelona, British Columbia. Loved grandmother of Michelle and her husband Daryl WOLFF of Edmonton. Dear sister of Alberta and her husband Cecil PICKARD of Saint Thomas and the late Echo (Mrs. Gordon SATCHELL) (1943) and Amy (Mrs. Ted PORTLOCK) (1995) and a sister Kathrine and a brother Johnny who died in infancy. Shirley leaves many nieces and nephews. She worked at Timken Roller Bearing Co. from 1947 to 1959, in the Office of Doctor E.W. KIERLUK from 1970 to 1985. She was a 60 year member of Knox Presbyterian Church, was past President of the Country Circle of the Ladies Aid and a long time member of the Saint Thomas Curling Club. A public Memorial service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 24th at 11: 00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the S.T.E.G. Born in England he served with the British Army in England and Africa. Mark and Goldie came to Canada in 1948 and farmed for 27 years on the 6th Concession of Ashfield Twp., until they retired to Goderich Twp., and later moved to Clinton. For many years they spent their winters in Florida. Dearly loved husband of over 60 years of Alberta (GOLDROCK) PICKARD and loved father of Larry and his partner Judy VAUGHAN and Dale and his wife Joann, all of Saint Thomas. Predeceased by a sister Beatrice WILLIAMS and by three brothers Frank, Clifford and Russell. Loved grandfather of Kim GLOVER and her husband Drew of Orangeville and Jennifer and her husband Roy of Victoria, British Columbia. Sadly missed by 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was worked for Laidlaw Transport. Born in Saint Thomas, Ontario on September 28, 1917. Died in London, Ontario on October 6, 2006. We wanted him till 120 but we were blessed with 89 beautiful years. KERN, Doctor Rolf Robert
On the evening of Friday, April 21, 2006, Rolf succumbed to heart failure and passed away peacefully at Saint Michael's Hospital in Toronto. After thirteen years battling prostate cancer and five years post kidney failure, his strength could endure no more for his 78 years. Predeceased in 1998 by Inge, his wife of 40 years, Rolf was a loving and devoted father to his three girls Rona and husband Luke O'CONNOR of Los Angeles, Barbara and husband Dougal MacDONALD of Toronto and Petra and husband James SWAYZE of Toronto. His five grandchildren, Elina O'CONNOR, Katrina MacDONALD and Spencer, Olivia and Erika SWAYZE will miss their beloved Opi who leaves a legacy as a caring and conscientious patriarch. Born on August 5, 1927, to Friedrich and Lina in Freiburg, Germany, Rolf and brother Fritz worked the Bakerei Kern before a war-torn Germany saw him imprisoned in a Siberian camp at the age of 18. Before immigrating to Toronto, Canada in 1958 to help spearhead the North American expansion of the Gerling Konzern insurance operations, Rolf completed his PhD in Economics at the University of Freiburg. During his studies, Rolf traveled extensively and was honored as the first German student invited to the United States by the Rotary Club. His business savvy and intelligence earned him the position of President and Director of Gerling Global General and Reinsurance companies where he led the organization to an unprecedented record of 10 straight years of underwriting profit. His passion for beauty in many forms was evident in the rose gardens of his Willowdale home and Muskoka cottage and in his appreciation of music and modern dance. His intuitive investment philosophy saw continued success beyond his retirement where his keen sense for resource stocks and currency trading earned him a following in financial circles. Revered for his wisdom and respected for his strength of character and integrity his greatest attribute was his generosity. As a mentor to future leaders, a helping hand to those in need or the simple gesture of chocolates for the parking attendant, Rolf concerned himself with the well being of others above all. Spiritually, through meditation and yoga, his belief in Buddhist teachings and the reincarnation of the soul will ensure that he will always be among us. 'Life is hard if you take it hard' was his mantra and few people could boast such a robust and fulfilling existence - every day he was with us, Rolf KERN truly lived. Special thanks to Lilia ABOC who was not only a caregiver but a companion to Rolf for many years and whose devotion shone through in his final days. Doctor BAXTER, Nurse Sam and rest of the team deserve credit for making his stay at Saint Michael's so pleasant towards the end. Thanks must also go to the extraordinary group of nurses led by Doctor GOLDSTEIN in the hemodialysis unit of the hospital for their help in sustaining Rolf's life through the past 5 years with kindness and compassion. A celebration of Rolf's life will take place at the Granite Club located at 2350 Bayview Avenue north of Lawrence this Friday, April 28, 2006, from 5: 00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. with a tribute at 6: 30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hemodialysis Unit, Saint Michael's Hospital expressed in the name of Rolf KERN, would be appreciated.

He was an avid gardener and long term member of the London Horticulture Society. Beloved husband of the late Ella Violet CRIPPS (née GOLDSWORTHY) who passed on December 4, 2003. Peter died peacefully at home September 7, 2006, after a five month long courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Maureen (FAUMAN;) daughters Tory (Michael GOLDSWORTHY) Nancy; Bryn (Whitney DUNN;) son James; granddaughter Georgia GOLDSWORTHY; brother Louis D. HYNDMAN, Q.C., O.C. (Mary;) niece Jennifer; nephews Peter and Bruce; Maureen's daughters Laura FAUMAN (Andrew L. NEMETH); Sheila FAUMAN. Peter was born in Edmonton and educated there and at Saint Andrew's College, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Alberta with an Honours degree and Gold Medal in Commerce. From 1962 to 1963 he was a Knox Fellow in Economics at Harvard University. He graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Law degree in 1966 and commenced articles at Farris and Company. In 1970 he was a founding partner in the law firm Fraser Hyndman. Peter loved the outdoors, particularly the rivers and streams where he enjoyed his passion for fly-fishing. He was a founding director of the Pacific Salmon Society and the Steelhead Society and helped in the fight to save the Skagit River. Active in politics all his life, he was president of the Progressive Conservative Party of British Columbia from 1970 to 1972 and from 1975 to 1977 he was president of the British Columbia Social Credit Party. Peter was Legislature 1979 and Consumer from 1980 elected to the Provincial for Vancouver South in served as Minister of and Corporate Affairs to 1982. He returned to private law practice in 1983 and in 1990 joined The Loewen Group Inc. as Senior Vice-President, Law and Corporate Secretary. In 1998 he became Associate Counsel with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP where he continued his practice to this date. Peter was also one of the founding directors of Arctic Glacier Income Trust in 1996, remaining on its board since then. Currently he was active in the British Columbia Liberal Party and was co-chair of the Vancouver Civic NPA election team in November, 2005. A celebration of Peter's life will be held at 5: 00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12th at Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club, 4300 S.W. Marine Dr., Vancouver. Harvey loved to play and repair violins. He was the oldest current member of the Merry Music Makers. He was blessed to have many neighbours, Friends and family watching over him. He will be missed. Henry was born in Poznan, Poland and came to Toronto after the war to start a new life, find opportunities and raise a family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family of Edie CLARK of Midland, Ontario is very saddened to announce her passing on Saturday, July 15, 2006 after a short but courageous battle with cancer, in her 73rd year. Beloved wife for 52 years of Jim, dear mother of Jim of Richmond Hill and David (Anne) of Midland. Loving grandma to Stuart, Ian, Heather, Erin, Emily. Sister-in-law of Catherine RICHARDSON and Margaret VERBEY. She will be sadly missed in the hearts of her nieces, nephews and cousins and forever fondly remembered by Kim and Sandy. As a teacher at Midland Secondary School for many years, Edie had a major impact on the lives of countless young people in her community. A natural leader, she was a Past President and Honourary Life Member of the Midland Curling Club, Past Chair of the Midland and District Cancer Society, Past President of the Midland Horticultural Society, Member of the Midland Historical Board and a Founding Member of the Cognashene Garden Club. The pinnacle of her many years of community leadership and volunteer service was celebrated in 2005 when she played a major role in the town of Midland winning Canada's National Communities in Bloom Award. This award made her and her family very proud. She had many passions, including cottaging on Cognashene Lake, music, singing in the choir, knitting, flower arranging, cooking, antique collecting and gardening, with a special interest in roses and lilies. Her family appreciates the care provided by Doctor GOLISKY and Doctor KETTLE and the generous community of Friends who gave so much of themselves over the past month. Peacefully and surrounded by her family at Parkwood Hospital, on Monday, October 16th, 2006, Haideh GOLSHAN of London at the age of 56 continues her journey in the Kingdom of God. Loving daughter of Farangis ROOSHAN and the late Ghodrat'u'llah GOLSHAN. Dear sister of Soheil GOLSHAN, Siavosh GOLSHAN, Viktoreh GOLSHAN, Helda GOLSHAN, Roya GOLSHAN, and Gloria GOLSHAN- BINAEI. Also missed by 3 nieces and 6 nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Wednesday, October 18th, 2006 at 3: 00 p.m. Interment, Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Haideh are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society.

Passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2006 in St. Catharines in her 90th year. A very Special Mom, we are lovingly saddened by her death - Brian and Carol Anne (Ajax) and grand_sons Scott, Andrew and Graeme MacINNES, Nancy (MacINNES) and Jim GALLACHER (Fonthill) and family Michelle, Ajay and Sarah GALLACHER, Sonny XU ,
Michael and Amanda GALLACHER, Ruth (GALLACHER,) Jim, Joshua and Cameron THORPE. Leila was predeceased by her beloved husband Reverend P. Gordon and infant son Peter and all of her twelve siblings. She was a very caring mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, aunt and friend to all whose lives she touched. She was born in Bracebridge and with husband Gordon, served Presbyterian Church congregations in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, Elora, Smiths Falls, Chippawa and Toronto, an avid curler and a woman of remarkable courage, humour, generosity, love and strength. Friends and family are invited to visit and remember this gracious lady at the Hulse & English Funeral Home and Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines on Sunday, January 22, 2006, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and also at the Jerrett Funeral Home, North York Chapel, 6191 Yonge Street, Toronto on Monday, January 23, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will be held at the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church (King and Simcoe Streets, Toronto) on Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at 1: 30 p.m. Parking at Roy Thomson Hall.
