Ltd. until his retirement in 1982. He returned every summer to
his beloved Prince Edward Island until failing health in 2002
prevented his yearly pilgrimage "down home". Aside from his beloved
birthplace Murray had a passion for horse racing and hockey,
a true Maple Leaf fan his entire life. As a husband he was thoughtful
and considerate, as a father he was loving and patient, as a
papa he was proud and beyond overjoyed, as a friend he was dependable
and kind hearted, and as a human being he was sweet and good
natured. Murray was not a distinguished or refined man by birth,
profession or status. Yet he was and is held in the highest regard
by all who knew him, as a person who valued his family, valued
doing the right things and would lend a helping hand quietly
and unassumingly when needed. A thank you to Comcare for their
wonderful devotion and visits over the past two years. A special
thank you to Della. Also the family would like to acknowledge

ATKINSON,
John
Lyle
(January 31, 1932-March 20, 2006)
After a courageous battle with cancer, John died peacefully in
the loving arms of his wife Bonnie, with his beloved dog Maggie
at his side. John graduated from Lord Byng High School in Vancouver
in 1950 and earned a B.Comm. Degree from University of British
Columbia in 1955. He served as president of his fraternity Phi
Delta Theta. John's business life began with Scott Paper Limited.
He worked with Scott Paper for twelve years, ending in Toronto
after initiating a national sales training program. John then
joined the William Mara Company and latterly worked with two
other firms in the wine and spirits industry, The Hudson's Bay
Company and Meagher's Distillery, in sales and marketing management
positions. A yearning to return to his native British Columbia
lured him back to Vancouver where he spent his last business
efforts as a licensed realtor. John lived an active and vital
life. He was an avid sportsman in his youth and played rugby
for the Vindex Club. He enjoyed curling, golf, badminton and
bridge. John served as president of the Clarkson/Mississauga
Rotary Club and secretary of the 108 Mile Ranch Lions Club. John
leaves his loving wife
Bonnie (née
DOUGLAS/DOUGLASS) who he married in
1990. He was predeceased by his first wife, Dona Lois
FLETCHER,
who he married in 1955. Dona tragically passed away in 1976.
John is survived by their children Sharon (Drew) and Matthew
(Lori) and his sister Jean (Bill)
POWER.
John was proud grandfather
to Jenny, Sandra, Carolyn, Connor, Caleigh, Katie, Michael, Kyle,
Ryan and Dani. He was stepfather to Sandra (Glenn), Ken and Kevin.
John's wish was to have Friends and family gather to remember
his life with stories and laughter on April 9 from 2 p.m. until
4 p.m. at the Fireside Room at Chelsea Gardens, 13888-70 Avenue,
Surrey, British Columbia In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that a donation be made to a cancer charity in John's memory.

HANNAN,

Clarkson
(February 5, 1912-April 19, 2006)
Passed away peacefully in Montreal on April 19, 2006 in his 95th

loving Grandpa of Joanne (Derek

Twin brother to the late Elizabeth
PIBUS
(Raymond

brother to the late Margaret

The
son of Robert Christopher
HANNAN and Laura
CLARKSON,
Bob was born in Montreal where he
lived his entire life, raising his family in Hampstead. He worked
as a bond trader before assuming the leadership role with the
C.A. Duclos Leather Company, where he worked until his retirement
in 1975. In addition to being an astute investor and successful
businessman, Bob was a lively sports enthusiast and lived spending
time outdoors. He was a highly skilled fly fisherman and enjoyed
many years of annual fishing trips with his Friends. Being one
of the few men in the group to tie his own flies, he would arrive
at the camp every year with an abundant supply of hand-tied flies
for everyone. Bob was also an avid skier, and was one of the
founding members of the J.B. Ski Club at Mont Tremblant. A life
long golfer, Bob was an Honorary Member and past Director of
The Royal Montreal Golf Club, where he played many memorable
rounds with Friends and family over a period of more than 50 years.
While he loved the challenge of the game, it was his respect
for the game's traditions and camaraderie that truly fueled his
passion. As a past Governor of the Royal Canadian Golf Association,
a member of the Canadian Senior Golf Association and the American
Senior Golf Association, his zeal for the game took him to many
of the world's greatest golf courses. Music was also a passion
of Bob's. From his early days of singing in the choir at The
Church of the Advent in Westmount and playing the clarinet in
the Westmount High School band, you could always catch Bob whistling
a tune or tapping his foot to a song he had running through his
head. Bob's story telling was legendary - he could always be
counted on to enliven a dinner party, a fishing trip or a drink
in the 19th hole with one of his memorable jokes. Some of his
stories were classics; and although he had told them over and
over, his captivating personality, animated delivery, irrepressible
sense of humour and wonderful laugh captured the moment. Amongst
Bob's greatest attributes were his positive and optimistic approach
to life and his ability to make Friends wherever he went. He
will be lovingly remembered by all those who had the pleasure
of knowing him for his upbeat attitude, his loyalty and strength
of character, his straightforward, common-sense approach, his
unassuming demeanor and his unwavering ability to live life to
the fullest. In this regard, he was an inspiration to his family
and Friends. During his last few years, Bob faced the difficulties
of dementia with loving support from his family and the caring
staff at the Griffith McConnell Residence. He was a truly exceptional
person and he will be greatly missed by all. My life's been full,
I've savored much, Good Friends, good times, a loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don't lengthen it now with
undo grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted
me now, he set me free. A private family service will be held.
Donations in Bob's memory to The Pat Fletcher Golf Foundation,
2315 Cohen, St. Laurent, Quebec. H4R 2N7 would be greatly appreciated.
