PATTON, Robert " Smokey"
Thank you is a very small word but is filled with love when we express it for all that was done for Robert "Smokey" PATTON during his illness and the celebration of his life on March 19th at New Lowell United Church. To all who brought food, sent flowers, cards, phone calls or just a gentle hug we were truly grateful. The donations in Bob's memory will be a lasting reflection on his kind, gentle life. To Rev. Tony RENNETT, Rev. Laura TURNBULL, Leslie BURKHOLDER, Cathy DUNLOP and the people that spoke so kindly of Bob during the beautiful and lasting memorial service we say thank you. A special hug for Claudia DICAMILLO, Bob's only granddaughter for the fitting poem she recited at the service. A thank you to the New Lowell Legion for the reception that followed the service. Finally to Paula and Shawn DAVIDSON for their care and understanding as they walked with us through this time of sorrow and grief. Lovingly remembered by 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. On Sunday, August 20, 2006, in his 62nd year. Tragically taken from his family and loved ones as a result of a boating accident, doing what he loved. Predeceased by his parents William M. HENDERSON (1950) and Melvina SHERLEY (1998.) He will be forever loved and deeply missed by his children Kristen (HENDERSON) DICICCO, Kara HENDERSON- MANN (Jeff), Lindsay HENDERSON- WELTEN (Jason) and Matthew HENDERSON. Papa " Big Truck" was loved and cherished and will never be forgotten by his grandchildren Logan and Brandon DICICCO, Payton and Madison MANN, and Austin and Cade WELTEN. Dearly loved and greatly missed by his beloved companion Rosemary (May) TYRRELL and her family. He will also be sadly missed by his former wife Wendy HENDERSON and her family. For 32 years Bill was the proud successful owner of W. Henderson Renovations Ltd. He loved fishing, hunting and trap shooting, but above all, he loved his family. He will be greatly missed by many Friends. Beloved wife of Edwin Thomas THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON of Aylmer and formerly of Hamilton, Ontario. Loving mother/grandmother of Lana McNAMARA of Sebastopol, California and her daughters Grace, Victoria and Deirdre; Tara THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON and husband Randy LANSUE of Belleville, Michigan. Dear daughter of Agnes DICK of Hamilton and the late Allan McGregor DICK of Hamilton. Dear sister to Carolyn LINTOTT and her husband James of Dugald, Manitoba and predeceased by her brother Cameron DICK. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Although born in Edinburgh, Scotland on July 28, 1942, she spent most of her life in Hamilton and Aylmer, Ontario before retiring in 2000 as the Human Resource Manager at Imperial Tobacco. If Not For You Life could have been a lot harder If not for you. They could be hurting a lot more If not for you. They could be suffering a lot more If not for you. They could be a lot more uncomfortable If not for you. They could be a lot more depressed If not for you. It would be a lot harder to feel like someone If not for you. Hidden within hundreds or thousands of medical workers lies the true heart of the system. Ladies and men dealing with the most minute problems over every kind, unselfishly dedicated to their patients. Not nearly recognised for what they do and not nearly appreciated enough, they seem to push on. This may be only my opinion, but I don't think so. My family and I would like to thank all of the nurses that assisted us through our ordeal and past couple of years. Colleen DICKENSON a loving daughter, mother and wife, passed away December 18th, 2005. The nurses we met along the way were so supporting and dedicated to us and our need. We owe a very special thanks to Bette KLINE of Para-Med Services. the 18th day of December Bette arrived. We immediately made my wife comfortable and at ease. Bette then proceeded to be comforting and helpful as the day went on. Having over 20 people in our home Bette just seemed to fit in, like family with a very special touch. As so many nurses do, Bette went well beyond the call of duty. Bruce (husband), Katrina (daughter), Adam (son) and the rest of the family thank you dearly.

Peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2006. Whitey (Elliott Hubert) Allen, second son of Thomas Hilliard ALLEN and Emma Lena (FLEAR,) born June 14, 1922 in Fergus, Ontario. Whitey's great-great Grandfather Richard ALLEN was among Dufferin County's earliest settlers. Raised in Brampton, Whitey ran scores for the Brampton lacrosse team; worked at Calvert Greenhouses, and helped his uncle Bill ALLEN deliver, by horse and wagon, for Eatons. Aged 17, Whitey saw service in World War 2; a 'sapper' with the Royal Canadian Engineers, 5th Armoured Division, where he spent 1943-1945 in Italian Campaign, then concluded action in North East Holland, (Groningen, TenBoer and Delfjzil). Once home, he moved to Burlington with Ontario Hydro but decided on Masonry Contracting which he practiced for 25 years. He gradually moved into Master Locksmithing at which he worked to age 80. Established 1947, his business successively named: E.H. Allen Construction; Doctor Fix-It; and Burlington Security; ceased operation 2002. A Burlington Lodge Mason since 1946. Whitey missed only 4 Sundays in 35 years as Lay Reader at the 8: 30 a.m. Communion Service at St. Luke's Anglican Church. A true Irishman, Whitey spun wonderful tales, always willing to share vignettes from the Depression Era or of his experiences in World War 2. Whitey is predeceased by his wife of fifty- one years, Mary Bernice DICKENSON. Their four children, Leslie Jane, Cynthia Louise, Susan Elizabeth, and (Edward Thomas) Brent, will miss his energy and humor. Cynthia's daughter Mary Beth will miss his gruff affection. He is also predeceased by his only brother Thomas Clarence, his eldest sister, Hélène Eleanor. Survived by his younger sisters Shirley Marie YOUNG (son Wayne) of Glen Williams; Brenda Gail KLINOWSKI (Wayne) and sons Tyler and Mark, all of Whitby. Proud Women's Royal Naval Service war veteran. Beloved wife of Harold John SHORT for 58 years. Loving mother to her daughter Judy SHORT, her son Robert SHORT and her son-in-law Richard SORRENTINO. Caring grandmother to Eric SORRENTINO and his family. Devoted sister to William and Peggy DICKER, Patricia WILLEY, and Shirley DICKER, and fond aunt to their families.
