Born in Toronto eighty years ago, Ray died peacefully on April 2, 2006 at Saint Michael's Hospital after a short battle with cancer. During his long, wonderful life, he was the beloved husband for forty-two years to the late Mary Theresa CAHILL and loving father to Terry NIKKEL (Milton), John, Marian McTEER (Bill), Neil, Gerald (Gale), Cathy (deceased in 1980), Michael (Vickie) and Patti DENNISON (Gary.▼) He was the proud grandfather of fifteen grandchildren Katie, Maureen, Darcy, Nathan, Deirdre, Peter, Travis, Joshua, Brendan, Michelle, Matthew, Justin, Stefan, Nicholas and Emily and great-grand_son Austin. Following Mary's death, Ray married Margaret HARKINS, now deceased, and they enjoyed ten happy years together. Ray was an enthusiastic and accomplished golfer throughout his life. He like to tell his many Friends and colleagues that he only golfed on days that end with the letter "y". On Tuesday evening, July 11th, Myrtle passed away at Christie Gardens in the company of her son Robert. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Gilbert; her brother Orrie TRUEMAN and her sisters Ola and Ethel. Myrtle is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law Bob and Ellen; her adored grandchildren Jennifer, Rebecca, Coulter and Joey, her great-grandchildren (G.G.'s Angels) Riley BOWIE, Rachel DENNY, Lila WRIGHT, Jacob BOWIE and Cate DENNY; her extended family Christopher DENNY, David BOWIE, Adrienne KIRSH and Jenny WHITELEY. She is also survived by her 98 year old sister Doris STANLEY, her aunt Ruth COULTER, her cousin Aubrey ELLA and many nieces and nephews. A long time employee of Canadian Kodak, Myrtle was an avid sportswoman, playing organized ice hockey and baseball in the 1920's and was a life member of Islington Golf Club, scoring a "hole in one" when she was 77. She was a long time member of the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire Resting at Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd., Weston. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Of Saint Thomas, on Monday, April 24, 2006, with courage and dignity, and never a single complaint, died peacefully surrounded by the ones he loved best, in his 65th year. He was a gentle and kind spirit, beloved husband of Jeanette (BEGIN) PADDON and much loved father of Michele and Lisa PADDON, both of London. Devoted son of Helen PADDON and the late Russell PADDON and dear brother of Dean PADDON and his wife Barbara of Saint Thomas and their children Pam and Susan. He will also sadly be missed by Pauline MOSS and Grant DENT. Loved and remembered by many close lifelong Friends and known fondly as "the Big Guy". John was an avid golfer, fisherman and dart player. Retired professor of the University of Toronto (November 17, 1925), passed away in his home in Guelph surrounded by his loving family on April 6, 2006. Beloved husband of Gloria (née THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON,) dearest dad of Kathleen SINCLAIR (Robert) of Kenya, Christine KALLVING (Anders) of Sweden, Kevin (Theresa ROBITAILLE) of Gabriola Is., British Columbia, Michael of Toronto, Elizabeth (Carlo ADAMO) of Guelph and the late Stephen Christopher. A wonderful grandfather to Quentin and Christine SINCLAIR, Roland Riviere DENT, Kevin and Carina KALLVING, Cassielle and Janeva DENT, Owen and Stephen DUSOME, and dear brother of Dianne GEORGE of California. Ralph started his teaching career in the Psychology Department at Acadia University (1953 to 1959). He continued at the Agricultural College in Guelph where, with Norman High, he founded a Department of Communications. After two years at La Molina University in Lima, Peru (1966-1968), he was appointed to the National Parole Board (1968-1969) but he returned to teaching at the Faculty of Education, University of Toronto, as Professor of Educational Psychology. Born 1905, Kendal, Westmoreland to Sarah Anne FLETCHER and Alfred THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, dearly loved mother of Lloyd Frederick GOWER (Linda,) Cambridge, Marilyn Anne CARR (David) Montreal, Diane Gower DENT (Peter) Hamilton, grandmother/Nana to 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Geoffrey CARR (Judy) Lucas, Adam; John CARR (Madeleine) - David, Gabrielle, Jonathan; Andrew CARR (Pamela) - Allysha, Scott, Averly Anne, Benjamin Frederick; Diane Adèle LOUALI (Farid) - Anissa, Miriam; Michele GOWER (Michael HART), Michael; Melanie PERRIMAN (Les) Meaghan, Jessica and Jennifer (David) HADDON - Benjamin Peter, Timothy; Ashley DENT; Rebecca DENT (Greg JAKUBOWSKI). Marjorie, second of four children, is survived by her youngest brother, Lister THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON. At Marjorie's 100th birthday celebration, Bishop Ralph SPENCE praised Marjorie as a woman of faith, a spirited lady of integrity and joy for whom family was her life. Marjorie was involved in volunteer activities, Toronto: Women's Auxiliary St. Clement's Anglican Church, Big Sisters; Hill Circle and the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire. Sincere thanks to all who made life more comfortable for Marjorie during her last years. A private family service of committal for cremation was held. Memorial service and burial in the family plot at Saint_John's Norway, Toronto will take place in the spring. Marjorie would have asked that you do a good deed in her memory. Peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto on Saturday, April 1, 2006, in her 82nd year. Cherished mother of Irene COOPER, Eugene and his wife Darlene, Libby and her husband Glen PALMER, Sandy and her husband Rob DENT. Devoted grandmother of 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her many close Friends. The family will receive Friends at the Doney Funeral Home, 318 Main St. E., Shelburne on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall, Hwy. 10 N., Shelburne on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 2: 00 p.m. Cremation. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or charity of choice would be appreciated.
