Passed away peacefully on November 23, 2006 at Saint Michael's Hospice at the age of 88. Ray was born in the Philippines and had a distinguished career as a musician in Hong Kong. His gift of music was precious to all who knew him. He will be remembered with love by all his children, grandchildren and relatives in Vancouver, the United States, Hong Kong and the Philippines. After many years of hard work he and his wife opened their own business in 1961 that ran for 16 years. After retiring he loved to vacation in Florida and spend time surrounded by his large family. Dear husband of Marilyn (McGUIGAN) of Chatham and the son of the late Anna (SPIZ) and Umberto ROMAN. Carlo was born in Cittanova, Italy and arrived in Halifax in June of 1957 with his family settling in Chatham. He worked at Navistar International for 33 years, retiring in 1999. He was a proud member of Lega Istriana of Southwestern Ontario. He will be sadly missed by: his 4 sons; Terry and his wife Tracy of London; Robbie and his wife Elizabeth of Blenheim; Marc of Brantford; and Christopher of London. His 3 grandchildren: Paige, Matthew and Ella. His brothers: Bruno and his wife Mariella of Niagara Falls, and Sergio ROMAN and Mary DELAEY of Chatham. Helen Marie TWIDDY (née DELANEY) passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, Friday, March 24, 2006. After relocating to North Bay from Huntsville in 1997, she continued her unrelenting commitment to and passion for volunteerism. Helen was recognized across the province for her many contributions. Voluteer Coordinator Chelsea Gardens, London, Ontario. Founder Volunteer Association, Parkhill Nursing Home, Parkhill, Ontario. Founder, Past President and Volunteer Coordinator Fairvern Nursing Home, Huntsville, Ontario. President and Founder of the Ontario Nursing Home Volunteer Association. Ontario Mental Health Board (member) Toronto. Board Member and President London Middlesex Mental Health Board. Regional Representative and Provincial Director of the Ontario Volunteer Hospital Association. President St. Joseph's Hospital Volunteer Association, London, Ontario. In 1992 she was recognized for her Volunteer Achievement by the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Up until the time of her death she was an active volunteer at the North Bay General Hospital. Helen was the beloved wife of 'Bert' TWIDDY who predeceased her in 2003. BLACK professed vows as a Basilian Father in 1947 in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He devoted his life to Catholic education, both in schools and parishes throughout Ontario. After graduating from the University of St. Michael's College and the Ontario College of Education, he studied theology at St. Basil's Seminary in Toronto and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1956 at St. Basil's Church in Toronto. A career in teaching followed at St. Michael's College School (Toronto), St. Charles College (Sudbury) and Michael Power High School (Toronto.) Fr. BLACK then served in the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie and became parish priest of Our Lady of Lourdes in Manitouwadge, Ontario before moving to Anglin House. WALNECK, The Honourable Raymond Joseph
Passed away in Thunder Bay on May 30, 2006 after a brief illness. Remembered with love and dearly missed by his wife of 47 years Maureen (BLACK,) his two daughters Susan and Sandra, their husbands Mark HARTVIKSEN and David KERR, and grandchildren Owen, Cameron, Kaitlin, Megan and Vanessa. Also remembered lovingly by his sister Joyce and her husband Raymond LAINE, Ann (BLACK) and John MORAN, Barbara (BLACK) and Tom DELANEY, Bob and Marilyn BLACK, his nieces and nephews, and so many dear Friends. He was predeceased by his parents Caroline (NAVROT) and Joseph WALNECK. After receiving his Honours Bachelor of Business from the University of Western Ontario in June 1954 he went on to study law at Osgoode Hall, University of Toronto and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1958. He returned to Thunder Bay and married Maureen on March 30, 1959. Ray practiced law until April 28, 1981 when he was sworn in as a Judge of the Provincial Court of Ontario. He also served as Regional Senior Judge for the Northwest region of Ontario from 1990 to 1998. He presided in court as a Judge until his retirement on September 7, 2005. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for Funeral Mass at 10: 00 a.m., celebrated by Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. Interment followed in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Cemetery. Visitation was held on Friday in the Sargent Family Reception Centre 21N. Court Street.
