Passed away January 10, 2006 after a short illness. Born March 13, 1925 in Chipman, New Brunswick to parents James DALTON and Alice POWER. He was an ideal son, husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend. The World War 2 Veteran fought in both France and Germany and served in the Canadian Air Force for 25 years including Postings abroad for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and a Peace Keeping Tour in the Middle East. After retiring from Military Service, he worked for the City of Brampton for 16 years. Albert was incredibly caring, kind, generous and always filled with unconditional love. He was a quiet man but spoke volumes through his actions and expressions. He had a beautiful spirit and personality which was still apparent in his final weeks. Those who loved him know that he was a person that many should aspire to be. He will be greatly missed by all. Surviving are his wife Mary DALTON, children Cathy and James, grand_son Hayden James, brother Russell and family, and several nieces and nephews. The Memorial Service will be held at the Andrews Community Funeral Centre, 8190 Dixie Road, Brampton (north of Steeles Avenue), 905-456-8190 on Friday, January 13, 2006 at 6: 30 p.m. with visitation one hour prior from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A reception to follow the service at the funeral home. Brother-in-law of Bert HAZLITT and Doug ROBERTSON (Angie.) Ted will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews and their families. Ted served in the army (Tank Corps) from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club for 55 years and a Senator at Sunningdale Golf Club. He loved tennis, golf and curling and let's not forget the Thursday afternoon nickel and dime poker group at Sunningdale. At Ted's request cremation has taken place. HEARN, Sister Agnes, S.O.S.
Died peacefully at LaSalle Manor, Scarborough, Ontario, April 22, 2006, having served 78 years as a Sister of Service. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, she was one of the ten children born to Thomas J. HEARN and Mary Ann BENCH. Predeceased by her sisters Margaret BUSSELL, Eva JONES, Theresa HEARN, Catherine BLAKELY, her brothers Joseph, Francis, Ambrose, Leo and Thomas, she would have celebrated her 100th Birthday on May 5, 2006. A pioneer member of the Sisters of Service, she entered the Community in 1928, six years after its foundation. Her first assignment was Secretary to Fr. George DALY, CssR, Co-founder of the Sisters of Service. Serving in the S.O.S. Immigration ministry in Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg and Edmonton, meeting immigrant boats and trains she provided reception services, accommodation care and support for newly arrived women immigrants. With the advent of World War 2 and immigration at a standstill, her talents were directed to the S.O.S. Catechetical Ministry delivered from Centers in Edmonton and Regina. Embracing the Vatican II approach to Catechetics, she studied theology and new techniques and methods and continued to serve in this ministry as a Parish Catechetical Coordinator in Winnipeg and Co-founder of the Catechetical Education Program in Clarenville, Newfoundland. Agnes will be remembered for her fervent zeal, her zest for life, her boundless enthusiasm and energy and her complete faith and trust in God. With her passing the Sisters of Service have lost a Community icon and a reservoir of our early history. The Sisters of Service extend their sympathy to her nieces and nephews and her many dear Friends across Canada. May she rest in peace. Passed to glory quietly early Sunday morning, January 22, 2006 at Highview Residences London, Ontario in his 93rd year. Art was born in Dixie, Ontario, May 17, 1913, and moved to Brampton in 1936 where he raised his family and was an active member of the community for 65 years. He was an Ontario Land Surveyor whose name appears officially on thousands of Peel County property surveys. He was also a successful land developer who was part of the transition of a small rural community to a vibrant city. Art was a pillar of personal strength, always leading the way and showing determination and a strong will to live. Art leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Lois Helen (née STEWARD/STEWART/STUART.) Much loved father of (Dr) Barry and his wife Susan (BROWN,) Jamie and his wife Joy (Price,) Nancy and her husband Tom LAURIE, and Bette and her husband Dave DALZELL. At Baycrest Hospital, Toronto, Ontario, on January 1, 2006, after a lengthy, courageous battle against cancer. Adored wife of fifty-nine years of William (Bill) of Toronto; beloved mother of Jan MORRIS (David) of Burlington, Ontario, and John (Celia) of Claremont, Ontario. Loving grandmother of Kristy and Alex MORRIS and Jennifer FRECHETTE of Bradford, Ontario. Predeceased by brothers Kenneth (Jean) of Toronto and Gordon of Bath, England, sister of Stuart of Calver, Sheffield, England. Born in London, England, daughter of Colonel Albert and Elsie DALZIEL, she was educated in Winnipeg, Vancouver and Toronto. She endured the London Blitz of World War 2, working at the Canadian Bank of Commerce and Canadian Military Headquarters before joining the Canadian Army Auxiliary Services in Stratford-upon-Avon where she ended overseas service, returning to Canada in 1946. A volunteer worker with the Canadian Diabetes Association, she became an expert in dealing with the dietary complexities of her husband's combination of diabetes and celiac disease. She was a long time active member of the Anglican Church of Saint Timothy North Toronto (100 Old Orchard Grove) where a funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock on Thursday, January 5th, 2006.
