Arthur Raymond MacNEIL, M.D., M.Sc., (F.R.C.P.C,) C.F.F.P., passed away peacefully at home on April 6, 2006. He was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Doctor John Roderick and Agnes Mary (McNEIL) MacNEIL. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Patricia WALSH, Robyn WALSH, Kelly, Lee, and Abigail ROBINSON, his faithful canine companion Oliver, as well as his sister, Delores DALEY, and her family, Denise Daley NORMAN, Thomas NORMAN, Mary NORMAN, Peter NORMAN, Krista DALEY, and Alicia DALEY. Doctor MacNEIL was educated at Saint Anne's School (Glace Bay), Saint Mary's University, Dalhousie University, and the University of Alberta. He was a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and the American College of Chest Physicians. He had a distinguished career as an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Dalhousie Medical School and served as the Director of the Intensive Care Unit at the Victoria General Hospital and the Medical Director of the hospital's Respiratory Technology Unit. He was a passionate yachtsman, never happier than when he was behind the wheel of Dies Irae or Battle Hymn with Patricia by his side. Dies Irae raced her first Marblehead to Halifax race in 1977. In 1993, he skippered Battle Hymn for the first of four subsequent Marblehead races, the final being in 2001. Doctor MacNEIL was always ready to participate in ensuring fairness in his chosen sport and served, for many years, as a Canadian Yachting Association Certified Judge. He was a Past Rear Commodore of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron and a Past Commodore of the Armdale Yacht Club. He was also a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. After his passing, he was able to ensure the gift of life and the gift of sight to others through tissue donation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone sign their organ donor cards. Memorial donations in Arthur's memory may be made to Sail Able, c/o Shearwater Yacht Club, P.O. Box 280, Shearwater, Nova Scotia B0J 3A0. Sister Anna Gertrude entered into her eternal rest at Mount Saint_Joseph, Peterborough, Ontario on November 15th 2006, in her 73rd year of religious life. She was the daughter of the late Martin Sylvester GRACE of Arnprior, Ontario and his wife Theresa Jane McCAFFERY of Perth, Ontario. Besides the members of her religious community Sister Anna Gertrude leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews and cousins in the Ottawa region, Niagara Falls and Scotland. She is predeceased by her brother Harold and her sisters Ursula (Mrs. H. KEHOE,) Helen (Mrs. P.A. BUTTERWORTH) and Kathryn (Mrs. T.J. DALEY.) Sister Anna Gertrude received her education in Ottawa. She taught music, choir and organ in Cobourg, Wainwright, Lindsay, Ottawa, Almonte and Mount Saint_Joseph in Peterborough. Sister served as Superior in Cobourg before returning to Mount Saint_Joseph in 1993 where she continued in her music ministry for several years. Visitation in the chapel of Mount Saint_Joseph, Peterborough will be held on Friday, November 17th from 7-9 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mount Saint_Joseph, Peterborough on Saturday, November 18th at 10: 30 a.m. Interment at Saint Peter's Cemetery. Peacefully, at home, Norman Ralph ANDERSON, at the age of 84, Loving husband and dear friend of Valerie (TAILOR/TAYLOR) SMITH. Norm was blessed with three marriages throughout his life. His first marriage was to Patricia (SMITH) ANDERSON of London, England, whom he met while stationed in Surrey during the war. Loved father of their twin daughters Norma and her husband Jim SMITH of Ireland and Dierdre LLOYD of Manchester, along with son Sean and his wife Rasaline ANDERSON, London, United Kingdom and their mother Patricia. Norm was then married to Gloria HALLIWELL for over thirty years until her death in 1990, and was much loved and respected by their son David and his wife Sara ANDERSON of Camlachie. Step-father to Gloria's children Linda and husband Lee McQUIRTER of Sarnia and Len and his wife Maureen GLANFIELD of British Columbia. Norm also enjoyed becoming step-father to Val's children, Shelly and her husband Laurence LOVEGROVE, Petrolia, Terry SMITH, Strathroy, and Julie and her husband Dale KELLY of Forest. Much loved grandfather of 12 grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by wife Gloria (1990) and granddaughter Lauren Gloria ANDERSON (2000.) Norm was born on July 17th, 1921 at Ochre River, Manitoba, to Ralph Waldo ANDERSON (1955) and Margaret YOUNG, who died when Norm was 5 years old. His grandmother Eliza YOUNG (1973), whom Norm highly respected and loved dearly, stepped in to raise him and his siblings, George (1991), Ross (1972), Marguerite and Malcolm (1987) MacDONALD of Sarnia, and William and his wife Ida, also of Sarnia. Norm's father re-married Jessie DALGHIESH (1985) and had two sons, Norm's half brothers James (1984) and Gerald and his wife Gladys of Trenton. At the age of 16, Norm went to Malartic, Quebec to work in the gold mines with his father. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1941 in Noranda, Quebec and went overseas in September. He was on Active Service in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, including the D-Day landings on Juno Beach. He returned to Canada in '45 and worked in the mines until coming to Sarnia in '50 to work in the insulation business, mainly building the plants in the Chemical Valley, eventually purchasing Commercial and Industrial Insulation in '76 and selling it in '82. He owned and developed Forest Golf and Country Hotel from '58 til '89. Not liking retirement, together with his son David, he purchased and developed Bonnie Doon Golf and Country Club. Norm loved sports. He played hockey when he was young and of course enjoyed golf. He was a great curler and a Lifetime Member of the Forest Curling Club. In later years he was a great spectator, especially whenever Dale and Julie played. Norm lived a very full life. Beneath the often gruff exterior lay a heart of gold, one to which is much-loved grandchildren and step-grandchildren can attest. He had many Friends and was a good husband and father. He did a lot of good in the community that no one ever new about. Resting at the Ronn E. Dodge Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 9 James Street South at Watt (Forest) Lambton Shores. Visitation Sunday 2-4 and 7-9. Legion Parade Sunday evening at 6: 45 p.m. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 20, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. at Forest United Church with Reverend Cathy LARMOND officiating. Canadian Sports Hall of Fame Broadcaster, died peacefully surrounded by his family, on Thursday, April 27th, 2006 at the age of 69 years. November 8th, 1936 was a day Mary Kathleen McGOVERN- MARSDEN would never forget. This was the day she would give birth to a happy, healthy, bright-eyed, bouncing baby boy, whom she would name Patrick, after her beloved father. As the years passed, Patrick held true the hope that every mother wishes for her child, to become a good and decent individual in society and someone who would by their example inspire others. Indeed, Patrick Frank MARSDEN will be remembered for his extraordinary ability in the world of broadcasting. He is recognized in the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame and the Football Reporters of Canada Hall of Fame for his outstanding contribution to the many sports arenas in which the sound of his voice, still echos the play by play. He loved sports, all sports. He played every kind of sport as a child in his home town of Ottawa, Ontario. He often regaled Friends and family with great stories, all filled with laughter and fun about his early years growing up in Woodroffe, or his days at St. Pat's High School, where he would meet lifelong Friends. Pat would never hesitate to tell you what a wonderful childhood he and his brother Bill experienced. Remembered by all who knew him, to be a straight shooter, he would always, "Tell it like it was", you always knew where he stood on the issues. He was never afraid to take the unpopular stand, as a sports broadcast journalist or as an individual; Pat MARSDEN never sacrificed his integrity. Above all else though, "Rosy", "Rolly", "Pinky", just a few of the nick-names his buddies had for him, Pat will always be remembered for his incredible, contagious and often irreverent sense of humor, his bright intellect and sparkling wit!! Even if you were really angry or upset with him, somehow that humour would take you over and you couldn't help thinking, this rosy-cheeked Irishman had indeed kissed the Blarney Stone and that he was truly funny and very smart!! Humor was his gift to the world, more than any other facet of his personality or his countless broadcasting accomplishments. His legacy to his children and his grandchildren is that wit and amazing sense of humor; forever genetically linked, meet any of them and you will instantly recognize that the "Marsden Wit" lives on!! Mary Kathleen or "Rose", as Pat so affectionately referred to his mother all her life and his, would be very proud of her boy. In the final and very short months of his life following his diagnosis of inoperable cancer, he was an example to all who knew and loved him. He never lost that unstoppable sense of humor nor did he for a moment feel sorry for himself or his lot in life, if anything, he was more concerned for the well being of those who stopped by for a visit. The outpouring of affection generated from the many Friends he collected over a lifetime was heartwarming to his family, as friend after friend appeared at his hospital door. They came from all over the country and south of the border just to say hello and tell him what was in their hearts. He expressed his satisfaction with a life well lived and a profound joy in the family and Friends that loved and surrounded him all the days of his life. His only wish was to be able to watch one more Grey Cup game, "Some Sunday in November", somehow you have to know he will find a way to do just that. Pat MARSDEN is survived by his wife Terryanne, his daughter Taylor and son Connor. Also survived by, Barbara MARSDEN and their children, Patti-lee INACIO, Michael MARSDEN, and Ruthmary DALLMAN; son-in-law, Carl INACIO; daughter-in-law Antoinette MARSDEN; cherished "Poppy" to grandchildren; Christopher and Bradley MEHLENBACHER; Matthew and Patrick MARSDEN; Derek and Nicholas DALLMAN; brother Bill MARSDEN of Ottawa. Beloved wife of Bob passed away in Calgary on Tuesday, December 20th, 2005 at the age of 59 years, after a brief struggle with cancer. Besides her loving husband, Joanne is survived by sons, Adam and his partner Kyla McGILLIS and Michael all of Calgary, and daughter, Shannon of Toronto. Surviving also are brothers, Michael and Frieda MALONE of Port Franks, Tom and Eileen MALONE of Seaforth and Pat MALONE of Wingham. Dear sister-in-law of Betty and Bob BEUTTENMILLER of Seaforth, Don and Eileen MUEGGE of Walkerton, Richard and JoAnne MUEGGE of Windsor, Judy and Doug DALRYMPLE of Exeter, Linda and Bill SOLDAN of Exeter, Len and Jane MUEGGE of Clinton, Lois and Bill BROWN of London, Yvonne and Rick HULLEY of London and Patti and Dave SPENCE of Exeter. Joanne will be remembered as a caring and generous friend who loved to smile and laugh and was full of fun. Her home had an open door -- where her children's Friends were always welcome. Her boundless generosity and spirit touched hundreds of lives while she worked with the homeless at the Mustard Seed Street Ministry in Calgary. Dear mother of Pearl KIRK, Marion PLUNKETT and Grace and Bill GILFILLAN all of Exeter, George and Agnes McLEOD of Goderich, Barb and Rick ELLIOT/ELLIOTT of Hensall, Donna and Bob LAVERY of Banff and Dianne and Wayne MORE of Cambridge. Dear grandmother of 30 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Alma LOSTELL of London and Nettie TINNEY of Exeter.
