Local 593, retiring from Comstock in 1991. Jerry was the founding
president of the Ian M. Garden Jr. Tent 174 of the Circus Fans
of America and traveled extensively to see as many performances
as possible in Canada and U.S. He joined Tents and Tops in Michigan
to Florida and actively participated in the meetings and conventions.
His love of the Circus Model building, and his Circus poster
collection which covers the basement walls. Memorial donations

Gently and gracefully at Parkwood Hospital on May 23, 2006, in
her 68th year, following a long struggle bravely borne. Survived
and sadly missed by her husband Bill, sons Anders (Anjanette)
and Edward and their father Neil, brothers Bo (Christina) and
Ulf (Margarita) and grandchildren Liam, Lars and Annika. Predeceased
by father Gösta and mother Julia. Anette was born and brought
up in Northern Sweden and moved with her family to Uppsala, where
she trained and worked as a laboratory technician and nursing
assistant. She worked in this capacity in Sweden, then Scotland,
and for some years after coming to Canada in 1974. She will be
remembered for her capacity for Friendship, her love of nature
and her energetic and optimistic spirit. Anette's loyalty to
Friends and unconditional love of her family will be greatly
missed. The family greatly appreciates the care received from
the staff at the London Regional Cancer Centre, Doctor Ingrid

country with pride and distinction beginning with the 3 Div.
Petrol Coy, R.C.A.S.C.. In 1943 he crossed the Atlantic back
to Canada and trained as an officer with the Westminster Regiment.
he received his commission on the 10th day of October 1943. Upon
returning to Europe he took part in the liberation of Holland.
Returning to Canada with the Westminster Regiment in 1945. Following
the war he continued to serve his country in the Royal Canadian
Army Service Corp. including a one year peacekeeping deployment
with the United Nations Emergency Force Gaza in 1957, until he
retired in 1968. Following his military retirement he worked
for the Hudson's Bay Company for 15 years. It is his wish that
there be no service. Cremation with his ashes spread on the ocean
near a cherished childhood retreat. At the going down of the

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Jyri Erkki
PALOHEIMO on March 29th, 2006. After a long struggle with cancer,
he passed away peacefully surrounded by family and Friends at
his home. Doctor
PALOHEIMO was born in Kuhmo, Finland on June 7,
1932 to Sirkka and Major Erik
PALOHEIMO.
After completing his
undergraduate degree in Abstract Mathematics at the University
of Helsinki in 1953, he immigrated to Canada. He undertook post-graduate
work at Columbia University, New York, and completed his doctorate
at the University of Toronto while working as a Mathematical
Statistician for the Fisheries Research Board in St. Andrews,
New Brunswick and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Upon completion of
his PhD dissertation, on the Theory of Search, he was immediately
appointed Assistant Professor in both the Mathematics and Zoology
departments of the University of Toronto, and later in the Institute
of Applied Statistics there. In 1975 he became a member of the
Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Toronto. He
was promoted to Full Professor in 1976 in the Department of Zoology
and the Department of Statistics. A world expert on search theory,
he published over 70 academic papers, including some Citation
Classics, and of the textbook, Models in Ecology, as well as
contributing to other books in the field. He became an Emeritus
Professor in 1997. A very quiet and unassuming person, Doctor
PALOHEIMO
had a lifelong interest in the inner life of man. His work on
himself was felt by those he came in contact with. His attainments
in this regard, as well as his genuine warmth and wry humour
made him a guide and mentor for many people. He left behind former

Peacefully on November 7, 2006 at the age of ninety-five. Born
in Germantown, Pennsylvania. She co-founded the Center School,
for dyslexic children, in Newton, Massachusetts. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Lovering
HATHAWAY and her children Elizabeth,
Horatio, Robert and Thomas. She will be sadly missed by her daughters

The family thanks all the staff at Lawton Park Retirement Residence
for their extraordinary warmth and support in her final years,
and the staff at the Toronto Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit
for their kind and conscientious care. A memorial service will
be held at a later date. Donations in Elizabeth's memory may

at 11: 00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to St. Anthony's

Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave.), Weston, with a gathering from 10 to
