Passed away peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Thursday, September 21, 2006 in his 79th year. Harold was the beloved husband of the late Jean CRANE (née McTAVISH.) He was the loving father of Kenneth and his wife Barbara (WORTHINGTON) and David and his wife Patricia (BEAULIEU,) brother of John, Margaret CREWSON, Ottalyn WATSON and Evelyn CAREY, dear grandfather of William, Julia, Sarah and Bradley. Harold retired from the Ontario Provincial Police, Pembroke Detachment in 1986 and moved back to the area in 1994. Friends are invited to call at the Currie Funeral Home in Chatsworth for visitation on Saturday afternoon and evening 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., where the funeral service will be conducted on Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. Rev. Beloved husband and best friend of Shirley for 50 years. Loving father of Randy NICHOLLS (Carol), Rick NICHOLLS (Rebecca), of London. Predeceased by his youngest son Glenn Robert NICHOLLS (1990). Devoted son of Olive DENNIS and brother of Donna NICHOLLS of London. Gently and gracefully at Parkwood Hospital on May 23, 2006, in her 68th year, following a long struggle bravely borne. Survived and sadly missed by her husband Bill, sons Anders (Anjanette) and Edward and their father Neil, brothers Bo (Christina) and Ulf (Margarita) and grandchildren Liam, Lars and Annika. Predeceased by father Gösta and mother Julia. Anette was born and brought up in Northern Sweden and moved with her family to Uppsala, where she trained and worked as a laboratory technician and nursing assistant. She worked in this capacity in Sweden, then Scotland, and for some years after coming to Canada in 1974. She will be remembered for her capacity for Friendship, her love of nature and her energetic and optimistic spirit. Anette's loyalty to Friends and unconditional love of her family will be greatly missed. The family greatly appreciates the care received from the staff at the London Regional Cancer Centre, Doctor Ingrid HARLE, Dr. Mark CAREY, and the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Hospital. Soldier, Husband, Companion, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend. Born June 1, 1920 in Victoria, British Columbia. suddenly passed away at his home on July 2, 2006 in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Predeceased by his loving wife Mabel and his brother Peter. Fondly remembered by his sister Joan TURNER, sister-in-law Doreen MITCHELL and his loving companion of many years Millie DUNK. His two sons David (Darlene) and Ted (Georgina), his nephews Michael and Douglas ADLEM and Hugh and Steven CAREY, his nieces Cathy GIBSON and Wendy LAUT of Perth, Ontario. Grandchildren Geordie, Kristie, Brooke and Sarah. Great grandchildren Kaeley, Aidan and Dallas and many Friends. During the Second World War David served his country with pride and distinction beginning with the 3 Div. Petrol Coy, R.C.A.S.C.. In 1943 he crossed the Atlantic back to Canada and trained as an officer with the Westminster Regiment. he received his commission on the 10th day of October 1943. Upon returning to Europe he took part in the liberation of Holland. Returning to Canada with the Westminster Regiment in 1945. Following the war he continued to serve his country in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corp. including a one year peacekeeping deployment with the United Nations Emergency Force Gaza in 1957, until he retired in 1968. Following his military retirement he worked for the Hudson's Bay Company for 15 years. It is his wish that there be no service. Cremation with his ashes spread on the ocean near a cherished childhood retreat. At the going down of the sun and in the morning he will be remembered. She was a resident of Canada for almost 60 years. An employee of Bell Canada for over 30 years, and was a member of Holy Family Parish. Survived by her sister Margaret DOYLE, brothers-in-law Major Donald A. CAMPBELL and Hugh DOYLE. Eileen was predeceased by her brother William SWAN, sisters Nan BULPITT and Anna CAMPBELL. Fondly remembered by nephews Russell, John, Colin, Donald, J.B., Ian and Colin and nieces Margaret Mary, Anne-Marie, Eileen, Lorna and Anna. Also remembered by many great nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her parents Earl and Lily HARRIS, and three brothers Harold, Donald and Murray. Dorothy and George met at London Bible College in 1947 and were married in London in August 1950. She was involved in children's Bible ministry for many years and was a volunteer at the Canadian Blood Services. Dorothy was a member of People's Church. It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Jyri Erkki PALOHEIMO on March 29th, 2006. After a long struggle with cancer, he passed away peacefully surrounded by family and Friends at his home. Doctor PALOHEIMO was born in Kuhmo, Finland on June 7, 1932 to Sirkka and Major Erik PALOHEIMO. After completing his undergraduate degree in Abstract Mathematics at the University of Helsinki in 1953, he immigrated to Canada. He undertook post-graduate work at Columbia University, New York, and completed his doctorate at the University of Toronto while working as a Mathematical Statistician for the Fisheries Research Board in St. Andrews, New Brunswick and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Upon completion of his PhD dissertation, on the Theory of Search, he was immediately appointed Assistant Professor in both the Mathematics and Zoology departments of the University of Toronto, and later in the Institute of Applied Statistics there. In 1975 he became a member of the Institute of Environmental Studies, University of Toronto. He was promoted to Full Professor in 1976 in the Department of Zoology and the Department of Statistics. A world expert on search theory, he published over 70 academic papers, including some Citation Classics, and of the textbook, Models in Ecology, as well as contributing to other books in the field. He became an Emeritus Professor in 1997. A very quiet and unassuming person, Doctor PALOHEIMO had a lifelong interest in the inner life of man. His work on himself was felt by those he came in contact with. His attainments in this regard, as well as his genuine warmth and wry humour made him a guide and mentor for many people. He left behind former wife Linda PALOHEIMO, their children Roland WATT, Lisa HUGHES (Jan HUGHES,) Sven-Eric PALOHEIMO, Thomas PALOHEIMO and Jasmine PALOHEIMO, as well as former wife Anna CARLING, who provided vital nursing care in his final months, and their children Rolf PALOHEIMO (Diana POTTS) and Martti PALOHEIMO. He will be missed by his grand children, Jan-Christopher, Ceilidh, Reese and Keelan HUGHES; Shane (late,) Erik, Alison, and Leslie PALOHEIMO; Sean Eric MELVIN, and Martina, Kayla and Luke PALOHEIMO; and by great grandchild Serenity May MELVIN. In Finland, he leaves behind brothers Matti and Juhani (Jussi) PALOHEIMO and their families. Passed away suddenly yet peacefully on Tuesday October 10, 2006 at the General and Marine Hospital, Collingwood in his 83rd year. Doug of Stayner, formerly of Aurora, loving husband of the late Jean CARLISLE (1990) and Dorethy HURMAN. Dear father of Wayne and his wife Lesley of Barrie. Cherished step-father of Mary-Ellen HURMAN and her husband James McLAREN. Dearly missed by grandchildren Gillian and Andrew McLAREN. Survived by his brother Ted of Bradford. A veteran of D-Day, Doug's passion was music. He played in an orchestra band, regimental band and a big band while serving abroad. He played many instruments but was at home behind his drum kit. Doug was a life member of Northern Light and Rising Sun Masonic Lodges. CAMERON was a D-Day veteran and proud of his time with South Alberta Regiment
Well-known Stayner resident Douglas George CAMERON passed away at Collingwood General and Marine Hospital on October 10.
He was 82.
Born in Aurora, Ontario, CAMERON was the son of Will and Bertha CAMERON.
He had one brother, Ted, who now lives in Bradford.
During the Second World War, CAMERON served with the South Alberta Regiment. He was also a D-Day veteran.
Married to Jean CARLISLE for 44 years, the couple had one son, Wayne, who now lives in Barrie.
Jean CARLISLE died in 1990 and in May 1991 CAMERON married Dorothy HURMAN of Stayner.
A talented musician, CAMERON played the drums in several bands. He was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Stayner and the Manito Shrine Club and the Northern Light Masonic Lodge.
A funeral service for CAMERON was held October 17 at Centennial United Church in Stayner. The service was officiated by Rev. Keith LOCKHART.
The Carruthers and Davidson Funeral Home of Stayner handled the service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lovering HATHAWAY and her children Elizabeth, Horatio, Robert and Thomas. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Emily CARLISLE, Margaret HATHAWAY and daughter-in-law Victoria HATHAWAY. She leaves her grandchildren, Jan VYKYDAL, Ann HAYASHI, Jennifer HASAE, Iain and Gillian HATHAWAY and Celina YARKIN. Also her great-grandchildren Adri, Ella and Madeline YARKIN. The family thanks all the staff at Lawton Park Retirement Residence for their extraordinary warmth and support in her final years, and the staff at the Toronto Grace Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their kind and conscientious care. Peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at the age of 82 years. Charlie BURNIE of Sutton, formerly of Virginia, Ontario, beloved husband of Annie BURNIE (née RABEY,) formerly of Rosebridge, Gaspé, Quebec. They celebrated their golden anniversary on December 3, 2005. Loving father of Wayne BURNIE, Donna BURNIE, Brenda PALMER and Judy FEDORKO and her husband John. Dear grandfather of Jamie FEDORKO and Andrew PALMER. Dear brother of Thomas BURNIE and Theresa ANDERSON (Bruce.) Predeceased by his sisters Winnifred COMER and Margaret CARLISLE. Resting at the Taylor Funeral Home, 20846 Dalton Road, Sutton from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Anthony's Mission Catholic Church, 28118 Hwy. 48, Virginia, Ontario, Friday at 11: 00 a.m. Cremation to follow. Memorial donations to St. Anthony's Mission Catholic Church would be appreciated by the family.

Peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 17, 2006 at Baycrest Centre in her 73rd year. Beloved wife of Noel. Loving mother of Karen CARLISLE, Pauline (Stuart) GOURLEY and Ronnie (Helen). Dear Granny of Kristy, Billy, Trevor, Mitchell, Liam, and Ryan. Shirley will be deeply missed and forever loved by her brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, here in Canada and in Northern Ireland. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the Ward Funeral Home, 2035 Weston Rd. (north of Lawrence Ave.), Weston, with a gathering from 10 to 11 a.m. If desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
