Nancy left us on Saturday afternoon, May 13, 2006, after an epic 3 year fight with ovarian cancer and all its complications. She was one tough lady and there was no quit in her. Nancy was the beloved wife and best friend of Hector, the Mother of Linda, Colin (Vanessa), Anne, Brian and Jane (Shawn CARTER). She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Devon and Keith SUTHERLAND Lindsay and Jenna CARTER. Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held later in the week. A memorial "foundation" in Nancy's name is being established and contributions can be sent to: Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Queen's University, Kingston K7L 3N6 c/o Dr. John F. JEFFREY, Associate Dean, Clinical. All donations will be acknowledged and follow-up reports will be sent. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, brother, in-law, uncle and friend, Harold FORBES, age 75, on Thursday, September 14th, 2006. Harold will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Florence whom after meeting as teenage sweethearts, shared 55 years of marriage. Dad will be equally missed and remembered by his children Brenda BUTCHER (Brad,) Leonard FORBES (Sanja,) Cindy FAVREAU (Len,) Janette MITCHELL (Greg,) grandchildren Shannon WALLACE (Will), Edward KULIK (Shelley), Nicole FORBES (Ash), Emily BUTCHER, Cara MITCHELL, Pauline FAVREAU, great-granddaughter Skylar KULIK and brothers Ronald (Mavis) and Bill (Maureen) FORBES. Uncle Harold will be deeply missed by his 15 brothers and sisters-in-law and 32 nieces and nephews, and the entire English clan including Marilyn, Tony, and Ed, who in addition to Mavis and Ron FORBES, came to help. Harold was born and raised in Toronto. He served for 33 years with the Canadian Armed Forces Militia Unit, the Governor General's Horse Guards retiring as Commanding Officer in 1973. He then went on to become a member of the Board of Trustees. Harold was also Past President of BCAA - University of Toronto, Past President of Securities Industry Association North America, Staff Commander of the Canadian Power Squadron, Past President of the Chandos Lake Property Owners Association, Past President of the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps., and knighted by the 'Order of Saint_John's' and 'Order of St. Lazarus.' In addition, Harold worked with Canada Wire and Cable, Wire Rope Industries, Anthes Equipment, Umacs, and Aluma Systems. For the past 16 years, Harold taught boating safety to over 631 adults and children on his beloved Chandos Lake. We share so many happy memories of Dad, one of which includes our winter backyard skating rinks made with the help of his good friend Doug Young, during our early years spent in Richmond Hill and later at our family cottage on Chandos Lake. Dad has been a constant role model of fairness, integrity and optimism, and his sense of calm and humour will be extremely missed by all of us, but, will live on in those most privileged to have shared his life with him. The family of Margaret SINCLAIR would like to express our heartfelt appreciation for all the support we have received since the death of our beloved mother. In her last few weeks we were overwhelmed by the wonderful care given by the Parameds, the Victorian Order of Nurses nurses and the tender assistance provided by Peggy Luxton's staff of Caring Hands. We will always be grateful to Dr. CHAN for the medical services he continued to provide for our mother. The floral tributes, donations, cards, gifts of food and other expressions of sympathy have been very comforting to us throughout this difficult time. We were deeply touched by the provision of a catered meal in our home courtesy of the culinary talents of Ruth BUTLER, May HOWES, Tina WATSON and Ben WILTON. Thank you to Rob Fawcett and his excellent team for their attention to every detail. We could not have asked for more consideration on our behalf. A special thank you to the staff at Hair Fair for styling mom's hair exactly as she would have liked, complete with the little net. Mother always wished her service to be conducted from Gentle Shepherd Church and her wish was granted with special gifts of beauty. We thank Pastor Ann GILLIES for her thoughtful message and her kind words of comfort, her son, Matthew, for his mastery of the sound system and the lovely harmony of Dianne CARLSON, Judy MacNEILL and Irene LITTLE, skillfully accompanied by Heather WIGHT. Krista BULLOCK's piano solo was a special tribute to her great-grandmother. We extend sincere appreciation to the Gentle Shepherd Women, under the capable coordination of Joan McGEE, for providing such a delicious lunch. Reverend PRINCE's visit to our home on Christmas Eve day will always be a treasured memory. Perhaps the best way we can thank this community in its entirety, is through Mom's own words which we recently discovered in a written message to her family, "God bless you all".

AKINS, Sadie Gwendolyn (née WARD)
Sadie Gwendolyn AKINS passed away on November 11, 2006 in her 95th year at the Village Seniors Community Hanover.
Sadie was born on December 29, 1911 at Thornbury, the daughter of Hazzard and Elizabeth (HARVEY) WARD. She attended school in Kimberley completing the equivalent of Grade 10.
On February 27, 1932 she married Harry AKINS who predeceased her. Most of her married life she lived at Flesherton and later at Markdale and Hanover.
During her working career Sadie worked in a jewellery store, grocery store, footwear at Markdale and when she retired she was working at Bob Avis Drugs. She had many hobbies -knitting, sewing and made many quilts which her family and Friends will enjoy for many years to come. She was a member of the Seniors Drop-In at Flesherton as well as a member and attendee of Flesherton United Church.
Sadie is survived by three children Joan (Bob) STODDART of Eugenia, George (Gloria) AKINS of Buckhorn and Robert (Dale) AKINS of Hanover as well as grandchildren Micheal (Jennifer) STODDART, Lori (Darcy) CORCORAN, Brad (Gail) AKINS, Tanya (Jamie) DUPUI, Kevin (Connie) AKINS, Daryl (Katherine) AKINS and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sisters Lottie HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON, Villa FAWCETT and Blanche RISK, also by one grand_son Gregory AKINS.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 14 with Rev. Donna MANN officiating. Taking part in the service were Tanya AKINS (prayer,) Jennifer and Micheal STODDART (eulogy) with music being provided by Bill DIAMOND, David FRIES and Ian LEITH.
Pallbearers were grandchildren Brad AKINS, Tanya AKINS, Lori CORCORAN, Micheal STODDART, Daryl and Kevin AKINS. Honorary pallbearers were Bob BUTLER and Bill HUTCHINSON/HUTCHISON. Flowerbearers were great-grandchildren Kyle CORCORAN, Alyssa CORCORAN, Connor AKINS, and Keenan McHUGH.
Interment was at Flesherton Cemetery.

Passed away, peacefully at Lisaard House on March 16th, 2006 at the age of 76 years. Loving mother of Stephen, Kim and Catherine. Proud grandmother of Nicole, Jacob and Laura HALLIDAY and Melissa, Kristina and James BUTLER. Sadly▲ missed by Rosanne HALLIDAY and Suzanne HARDCASTLE. Predeceased by her husband Gordon Earl HALLIDAY (1990,) her parents Harold and Lilian COOPER, of the Bruce Penninsula and many brothers and sisters. Wilda loved the wilds of Georgian Bay where the family enjoyed many summers together fishing, boating and exploring. Picking berries and leeks, which found their way to the dinner table, was a favorite pastime spent with her Friends and family. Of Thedford died peacefully surrounded by his family at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, February 4, 2006 in his 81st year. Born in Kingsville in 1925, he is survived by his beloved wife Harriet (née WILSON) BRUNER. Loving father to Gary, John and Lori, Terry and Nadia BRUNER, and Holly and Rob SCOTT. Cherished grandfather of Christy, Ryan, Steven, Wayne, Ashley, Kelly, Ben, Sam, and great-grandfather to Tayah. Predeceased by parents Rosie and Glen and brother Edsel BRUNER of Kingsville. He will be sadly missed by sister Madeline and Ralph BUTLER, brothers and sisters-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, and Friends. His presence will be missed by his faithful friend Boots. Bud joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1950 and was stationed in London, Forest, and Toronto General Headquarters. He had and exemplary career including Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governors, Honorable William Ross MacDONALD, Pauline M. McGIBBON and John B. AIRD. He retired from the Ontario Provincial Police in 1982 with the rank of Inspector. His engaging presence will be missed by those whose hearts he touched. In her 80th year, peacefully at Parkwood Hospital, London, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease, on June 15, 2006. Beloved wife of F. Donald Rail and loving mother of Robert Rail and his partner Janice BUTLER of Prince George, British Columbia, and Beth MENCEL and her husband John of London. Shirley will be greatly missed by her grand_sons Rob and James MENCEL. Born in Goderich, Ontario, Shirley was raised in Windsor where she met and married Don in 1948. In 1960, they were transferred to Australia and spent many years in various countries before moving to the U.S. in 1973. Their retirement years were spent at Canadian Lakes (Mescosta) Michigan where she enjoyed her community involvement, the Garden Club, bridge, hand spinning and weaving. Shirley also had a passion for playing golf throughout her travels. Her faith gave her great comfort into her final days. Cremation has taken place. The family of the late Pat MAILLOUX, wish to thank everyone who were so supportive during Pat's many years of illness and following her recent death. We wish to thank you for your numerous visits at home and in hospital, for the beautiful flowers, the food sent to our homes, the help we received at our homes, the cards received, the courtesies shown to us and in particular the memorial donations made in Pat's memory to our Oil Heritage District Community Centre and our C.E.E. Hospital Foundation. We are so fortunate to live in such a wonderful and supportive community. Special thanks to Pat's liver specialist, Doctor Cameron GHENT and her transplant surgeon, Doctor Bill WALL at University Hospital, who gave Pat an extra 10 years of good living following her many years of liver disease and transplant and Doctor Ian CHIN- YEE and the many other caregivers in the Chemo and Radiation department at the London Regional Cancer Centre and Victoria Hospital and the Sarnia-Lambton Community Care Access Centre who helped us at home along with V.H.A. Nursing and Victorian Order of Nurses Home Care for their excellent care over the last five months of Pat's life. Also, Dr. John BUTLER and Doctor Enoch DANIEL and the wonderful staff at Bluewater Health -- C.E.E. Site, your concern and care for Pat was beyond expectation and greatly appreciated. Also, many thanks to Father Stephen SAVEL, for his care of Pat, to Fr. Dan VERE and Fr. Paul DUPLESSIE, for con-celebrating Pat's funeral mass, and the many other clergy who visited and prayed with us. It is with profound sadness we announce the sudden passing of Linda BUTLER on June 15, 2006. Taken from us far too soon, Linda was the loving wife and best friend of Rob, and extraordinary mother to Robbie, Ryan and Brooke. Devoted daughter of Joan and the late Robert RAIT, will be deeply missed by sisters, Brenda and husband Kerry, and Judy and Frank. Loving daughter-in-law of Robert and Jean BUTLER, dear sister-in-law of Don and Patty, Jennifer and Debbie. She will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Linda will be sadly missed by her company's loyal staff and her many business associates around the world. Remembered for her kindness and generosity, Linda's positive and outgoing attitude was an inspiration to all who knew her. GLASSER, Penelope Jane
Died June 9, 2006 at her home in Toronto, Ontario. Born on May 6, 1943 in Kitchener, Ontario to Frederick and Dorothy (née THORNE) GLASSER, Pen graduated from Eastwood Collegiate in Kitchener and the University of Waterloo, and later obtained her Master's degree from York University. She married Douglas L. MacPHERSON of Kitchener in 1965. In her early years, Pen was an accomplished singer/performer with leading roles in Gilbert and Sullivan productions throughout high school and university. Following a brief career as a secondary school teacher, Pen expressed her exceptional gifts through her art. She also wrote about the arts, and worked on film and video productions. Throughout much of her career, Pen was intensely interested in Native Canadian spirituality and art and studied with several shamans. She is survived by Doug MacPHERSON, Doug's sister Barbara BUTLER and her family, and Doug's brother Bruce MacPHERSON and his family. 75, Halifax, Died Wednesday, October 25, 2006; peacefully at home. Born in Halifax, he was the youngest son of the late John P. MOORE and Annie Isabel MOORE (ROBSON.) John enjoyed his Friends and family, and was especially proud of his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He was an avid sports fan. He loved to sail and to swim. His swimming buddies at Northcliff Pool were very important to John. Away in Ontario for 40 years, John returned for his love of Nova Scotia in 1989 for his retirement years. He will be remembered for his good humour and expansive repertoire of jokes. He is survived by his children, Penny (Don STEWARD/STEWART/STUART) in Dartmouth and Joan (Murray MALONEY,) Debbie, Bradley and John Jr. in Ontario, as well as his, grandchildren Keith and Leanne STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and Andrea, Christopher and Brendan MALONEY, and great-grandchild Ava Grace FISCHER. Sisters Ina MONDOUX in Halifax and Helen BUTLER in Ontario survive him also. He was predeceased by his wife Betty (JAMES,) his brother Carl MOORE, and his sister Dentzel ERNST. Passed away peacefully at Cairnsmore Place on Wednesday, February 15, 2006. Born in Ireland on September 25, 1928. Lovingly remembered by his family, wife Jen; children Katy (John) EHRLICH, Sarah Lyon and Charlie (Sybille); grandchildren Raewyn, Coral, Marley, Peter, Maxwell, Guy, Fynn and Maya; sisters Eve WHITE/WHYTE and Judy BUTLER. Tom immigrated to Ontario from County Leix, Ireland in 1957 after the marriage to Jennifer, his devoted wife for 48 years. Thomas WEBB was a true Irishman at heart. Song filled his soul, even up to the last days of his blessed life. He loved the land, the trees and the flowers. He farmed the land in Ireland and Ontario and developed Ard Crein (Tall Trees) Farm, Wincrest Farm Florida Division and Ontario Division, and Eaton Hall Farm. He made his mark on the thoroughbred horse breeding industry across North America, as a renowned racetrack engineer and top breeder of thoroughbred racehorses. He was known as "Webb across America." He was a devoted father, teaching his children the ways of the world. His perseverance, kindness, compassion, love, faith, and hope were passed on through him to his children. He believed that the most important task in life was to "make the world a better place." Husband, Father, Athlete and PoetBorn in Aston, Birmingham, England, May 16, 1913 to Thomas and Charlotte SHARPE (née BUTLER.) Ernie died peacefully at Kemptville Hospital on January 31, 2006 in Kemptville, Ontario. Predeceased by his loving wives Violet (nee SMITH) and Doris Jean (née LEAM.) Survived by his daughters Carol (Bruce) and Lynda (Marcel) and their children James Keith (Cherie), Kevin John, William Edward, great-grand_son Colin and Ernie's step-daughter Brenda (Ian) and step-sons David and Donald. Ernie was the recipient of many awards including the Ontario Champion Certificate for Track and Field and the International Achievement Award presented by the Province of Ontario in recognition of distinguished performance in the field of amateur sport. Ernie's poetry was published in the Toronto Transit Commission Coupler magazine and the Ontario Track Monthly. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Bayfield Manor seniors residence in Kemptville and the Kemptville Hospital for their care and kindness. At Ernie's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Following cremation, a private graveside memorial service will be held. At St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, on Tuesday, February 7th, 2006. Dearly loved husband of Marg for 50 years. Devoted and honoured father of Bob (Ruth), John (Lucy) and Marianne (Paul BUTLER.) Will be remembered by his cherished grandchildren, Caitlin, R.J., Jason, James, Mary Margaret and Clare. Dearest brother of Ronayne O'CONNOR and the late Avila HOLLAND. Bob was born in Detroit on May 26th, 1930, to James W. and Josephine (POTTS) ARMSTRONG. He was raised in the Etobicoke neighbourhood of the Old Mill. Graduated from De La Salle College "Oaklands" High School in 1948, St. Michael's College, University of Toronto in 1951, and Osgoode Hall Law School in 1955. Law partner at Manley, Grant and Armstrong until 1970; retired partner of Cassels, Brock and Blackwell, Toronto. Member, Knights of Columbus, Kingsway Council, and Knights of Malta, Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem. 40-year member of Lambton Golf & Country Club. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the devoted doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit of St. Michael's Hospital for their care and concern for us all. Born in Middlesborough, England in 1937 and after a stay in Australia she came to Canada to raise her family. She spent many years in social services helping those in need. It is with great sadness that the Butler family announce the passing of Gail on March 3, 2006. Gail will be deeply missed by her son Morgan, daughter-in-law Laura, grand_sons Troy and Gabriel, and by many, many dear Friends. Over the past years Gail had been involved as a tenant rep at her previous residence at 4301 Kingston Rd. and in advocating for disability rights.
