GARLAND of Huntsville. Predeceased by her sister Betty, and brother Gerald N. GARLAND. Dearest " Nana" to Tanja Anne DJURDJEVIC (Moscow) and Emily Sarah VESS (Cincinatti.) Fondly remembered by her niece Dr. Mary Garland KRUYS (Rob) and her nephews Nicholas GARLAND and G. David GARLAND (Kathleen.) Jean was a graduate of Havergal College, a camper at Glen Bernard Camp in Sundridge, Ontario, a life member of the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto, and served in the Red Cross Transport Corps. in Toronto during World War 2. Peacefully, in the company of her children, at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital on October 2, 2006 in her 88th year, after a lengthy illness following surgery in 2004. Mary was born in Kingston, Ontario, to Doctor Stanley and Beatrice GRAHAM and continued the family tradition of attending Queen's University. She was blessed in her marriages, first to Lt. Col. George Michael (Jim) BILLINGS who passed away in 1966, and then to Col. Richard (Dick) ROSS, who also predeceased her. She is survived by her devoted children, Rosemary, Jane (Ronald THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON) and Michael BILLINGS (Karen PHILLIPS,) her stepson Ken ROSS (Eileen,) stepdaughter Wendy EVES (Frank) and her sister, Barbara MUNRO. Her brother, Dr. Eric GRAHAM, predeceased her. She doted on her grandchildren, Robin BRENT (John), Alison BOOTH, Alexandra and Graham BILLINGS and Erin and Ian ROSS. Persuaded by her husband, Mary reluctantly became a high school teacher in 1961, teaching in Almonte, Germany, Sir Wilfrid Laurier in Ottawa and, lastly, Lisgar Collegiate, where she was an awesome Math teacher until she retired in 1978. She was the adored backbone of our family and will be deeply missed. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church, 125 MacKay Street, Ottawa, at 1: 00 p.m. on Friday, October 6th. Interment at Cataraqui Cemetery, Kingston, at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry. No visitation. Cherished grandfather of Mark CATANIA, Courtney CATANIA, and Paget CATANIA (Tim CASEY) and great-grandfather to Hannah, Ethan, Samantha, Margaret, and Nate. Gusti came to Canada from Switzerland in 1929 and settled in the Beach. He began a long and rewarding career as the head chef at several different hotels namely The Old Mill and The Royal York. He took great joy from his family, his long walks and all sports especially horse racing. Gusti had a wonderful sense of humour and an amazing spirit throughout his life and we will miss him dearly. Devoted mother of Jim BEAL and his wife Cathy and her dear daughter Sandra SIBBLEY. Before God took her home, we all had the chance to enjoy a delightful afternoon in the hospital café together, along with a few close Friends-a memory we will all hold dear in our hearts. Suddenly at University Hospital, London on Monday, March 20, 2006, Jack Ernest BRESETT, age 67 of Lake Valley Grove, Lambton Shores passed away surrounded by his loving family. Best friend and loving husband of Shirley (BUCHSER.) Dearly loved father of Brenda and Lanny HULL, Victor and Kathy BRESETT and Gerald BRESETT. Devoted grandfather of Adam and Amy HULL, Victoria, Josh and Mason BRESETT. Cherished uncle of several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Ross, and sisters Mary and Alison. Jack was born in Sarnia on September 24, 1938. Jack was the Business Manager for Local 23 Bricklayer and a 50 year life member of Brick and Allied Craft Union. Jack was recognized as a gifted mason in the bricklayer trade. Jack was a proud grandfather who provided support and encouragement to all of his grandchildren. At Jack's request cremation has taken place and a private service will be held for family. Age 96 of Wallaceburg was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday May 18, 2006. She was born in Dawn Township daughter of the late Charles and Frances (STEELE) PENGELLY. Agnes was a member of North Dresden Baptist Church, the Ladies Aid and Mission Circle. Surviving is her daughter Lois (HORNICK) and her husband Leonard SALISBURY; two grandchildren: Katherine and her husband George ALLMAN of R.R.#3 Dresden, Brian HORNICK and his wife Nancy DILL of London; two great-grandchildren: Marnie and husband Dan CUMMING, Trevor ALLMAN; one great-great-grandchild Connor CUMMING; three step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She is predeceased by her first husband William BRESETT and her second husband Gordon McNAUGHTON, son-in-law Lee HORNICK, three sisters, five brothers and an infant brother. A wonderfully full and long life came peacefully to an end after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 12, 2006, Mary Helen BRESETTE of Sarnia died peacefully at Bluewater Health Mitton Street Site, surrounded by her family. Mary was born in Sarnia in January 1911 and had lived in her family home her entire life. She worked in the Prestolite, starting on the line and moving to the office where she worked until her retirement in 1977. Aunt Mary enjoyed her life filling it with travels, bridge club, her gardens, feeding the birds and spending time with her family. Mary was a member of Trinity Anglican Church. She was a fiercely independent lady and this enabled her to stay in her own home until now. Survived by her dear sister Orpha SITTER. Very special aunt to Melody and Frank VANPRAET, Laurene and Don SMITH, Arnie and Chris BRESETTE, Brenda and Jerome LESNY and their families. Dear aunt of Pat and Carol SITTER, Marjorie and Bill FYDELL, Jim and Helen PAULLEY, Jack and Janice PAULLEY. Suddenly at Port Huron on Wednesday, July 19, 2006, Leonard (Haney) BRESSETTE of Kettle Point, age 53. Beloved son of Fernie and the late Joseph Sr. (1998). Cherished father of John Wolfe. Dear brother of Joe Jr. of Minnesota, Sam Sr., Bruce and Vanessa, Albert and Georgina all of Kettle Point and Teleford Sr. and Catherine of Alabama. Predeceased by one brother Carlyle (Mink) (2000). Missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle and Friends. Resting at the Kettle Point Community Centre for visitation on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon and evening.
