It is with great sadness that the family of Randy BAKER announces his passing on Friday, June 30th, 2006 at Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe in his 64th year, after a brief battle with cancer. He is the beloved husband of 33 years of Alice (O'NEIL) BAKER; loving and proud father of Tara BINT (Troy,) Kitchener, and Tiffanie, Exeter. Dear Opa to Zachary, Ryan and Marissa BINT. He will also be sadly missed by brothers Henry (Nelly), Bayfield, Simon, Drayton, and sister-in-law Sandra GRACEY (George,) Listowel. Predeceased by parents Jacob and Jane (BRAAD) BAKER (1998 and 1994) Saint Mary, brother John (1989), Embro, sisters-in-law Ena (2001), Embro and Janet (2005), Stratford, and father and mother-in-law Lyle and Glorena (BURDON) O'NEIL (1998) Guelph. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins. Also, greatly missing "the Acting Mayor of Lutesville" are his close Friends Gary and Sharlene ARMSTRONG, Bill and Theresa DUNKLEY and Gray and Barb STEWARDSON, all fellow members for many years of the "Waterford Breakfast Club", and travel companions, Archie and Maria DEMEULENAERE. Randy was born in the Netherlands and emigrated to Canada with his family in 1948, eventually settling in the Stratford area. After graduating from the University of Guelph, Randy worked in Horticultural Research in Guelph and Simcoe for almost 30 years, retiring in 1997. As well, he owned and operated Baker Greenhouses for 26 years. Over the years, Randy has been associated with many groups and organizations but since his retirement he has concentrated his time and energy to the Long Point Branch of the Ontario Institute of Agrologists and to the Waterford Lions Club where he is the Past President. Cremation has taken place but family and Friends are invited to a visitation at the Thompson-Mott Funeral Home, Waterford on Friday, July 7th, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. Lions Service to take place at 6: 30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 8th, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Waterford United Church, Main St. S. MOSHER, Murray Clarence
It is with profound sadness that the family of Murray Clarence MOSHER announces his passing on March 10th 2006. Murray was born in Bristol, Prince Edward Island on August 1, 1919, son of the late Dwight and Minnie MOSHER. Preceding him, brothers Herman, Steward, and Harold MOSHER, and sisters Pearl JACKSON, Ellen HORBIN and Edna FORD. Sisters-in-law Gertrude MOSHER, Martha JOHNSON and Viva FLETCHER. Brothers-in-law George JACKSON, Ernie FORD, Gordon BRACKENBURY and Clifford FLETCHER. Surviving is his much loved sister Clara JAMES, brothers-in-law Earl JAMES, Reg HORBIN, sisters-in-law Beulah BRACKENBURY and Hazel MOSHER. He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife and caregiver of 62 years (April 6th, 1944) Leliah MOSHER (TERRY,) his only child and daughter, Deborah Mosher JAREMCHUK, his precious grandchildren, "Hazie Boy", Hayden MARKS and "papa's girl" Jessica JAREMCHUK. Also mourning his loss is his friend, companion and caregiver, son-in-law Tim MARKS, and his parents Gloria and Fred MARKS. Uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews throughout the Maritimes and Ontario. God-father to Anne FLHIVE. Murray as an adult married and built his first home in Turo, Nova Scotia and with his wife moved to Ontario in 1950. He worked at McCormick's Ltd. until his retirement in 1982. He returned every summer to his beloved Prince Edward Island until failing health in 2002 prevented his yearly pilgrimage "down home". Aside from his beloved birthplace Murray had a passion for horse racing and hockey, a true Maple Leaf fan his entire life. As a husband he was thoughtful and considerate, as a father he was loving and patient, as a papa he was proud and beyond overjoyed, as a friend he was dependable and kind hearted, and as a human being he was sweet and good natured. Murray was not a distinguished or refined man by birth, profession or status. Yet he was and is held in the highest regard by all who knew him, as a person who valued his family, valued doing the right things and would lend a helping hand quietly and unassumingly when needed. A thank you to Comcare for their wonderful devotion and visits over the past two years. A special thank you to Della. Also the family would like to acknowledge Western Area Youth Services/C.H.L. and staff for their compassion as an agency in giving the time needed by the family to be with Murray. Adrienne emigrated to Canada in 1952, and was the daughter of the late Rene and Marie DESMET of Belgium. MEZON, Thomas William " Tom"
Died suddenly while vacationing in Paris, France, on Wednesday, September 13, 2006. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Faye MEZON, and his devoted canine companion, Wilson. Also surviving him are his mother, Mrs. Olga MEZON, brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Bernard and Mrs. Terry-Ann MEZON, all of London, Ontario, his sister, Marilyn BRACKLOW of Prince George, British Columbia. In addition, all of his in-laws, nieces and nephews greatly mourn his sudden and untimely passing. Thomas was a Professional Engineer and also held degrees from the University of Manitoba and University of Toronto. Tom was also an avid golfer, reader, music lover and amateur historian. He had been the general manager of several Canadian companies in the automotive component parts industry as well as an entrepreneur for the finish of his career. During his retirement, Tom spent most of his energy providing the loving support and environment for his wife to pursue her career, always being there whenever she needed assistance. Indeed, while Tom was imminently successful in his other roles, his role as husband and helpmate surpassed all others and was the accomplishment of which he was most proud. Tom will be greatly missed by all those who knew and love him. Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane subway, on Tuesday, September 26, from 5-9 p.m. The Celebration of his Life will be held in the Chapel on Wednesday, September 27, at 3: 30 p.m. with reception to follow. BRETT, Slade Egerton (1920-2006)
The family announces with sadness that Slade Egerton BRETT died peacefully in his sleep on March 16th at Grace Hospital in Toronto at the age of 85 years. With his loving wife Sonia ZAHARA at his side, Slade slipped away after suffering for several months from cancer, an illness he dealt with in his graceful and dignified way. Slade was predeceased by his parents Dorothy and Ronald BRETT and his brother William. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Rosina and Jeremy BOOTH of Fakenham, England and his brothers-in-law, Ted ZAHARA (Deborra LEM) of Collingwood, Ontario and Donald ZAHARA of China. He was the proud and loving uncle of Owen ZAHARA, Suzanne PRATLEY and Leslie ZAHARA, and caring godfather of Nicola BRADBURY and Jessica CAMPBELL. Born in Duncan, British Columbia on July 21st, 1920, as a young boy Slade moved to England. In 1937 he enrolled in the University of London and entered the University Officer Cadet Corps, from which he joined the Queens Own Regiment in 1940 and was later commissioned into the Middlesex Regiment. During World War 2 Slade served in England until 1943 and in North Africa, Italy, and Greece until 1946, attaining the rank of Captain. Upon his return to the United Kingdom he enrolled in Imperial College. Slade returned to Canada in 1955 where he later graduated in Geological Studies from Queen's University in Kingston and University of Toronto, Ontario. For many years Slade worked in the geological field throughout Canada. He eventually became a high school teacher with the North York Board of Education as the head of Chemistry at C.W. Jefferys S.S. Slade was a sensitive lover of nature and the environment, of music and books, and especially of travel. He and Sonia enjoyed many wonderful trips and adventures together and he was busy planning another to Turkey when he became ill. His colleagues and students will remember him as a gifted teacher, a conscientious administrator and a superb mentor. Slade's many Friends will remember with affection and admiration his wide-ranging interests, his genuine concern for others, his gentlemanly nature and his indomitable spirit. His spirit soars with the eagles. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. He graduated from Oakwood Collegiate, Trinity College, University of Toronto (45/49). Joined the Queen's York Rangers in 1937 and Canadian Army 1943-46 serving overseas with Can. Intelligence Corp. Priested in 1950-Curacy at St. Stephen's, Calgary, Alberta. Became Priest-in-Charge 1951-74 Fort Chimo, Québec (Kuujjuaq), Administrator Diocese of The Arctic 1974-1984. Consecrated Bishop Suffragan of The Arctic 1979-1986. Appointed Bishop Ordinary of the Canadian Forces 1986-91. Chapline to the Regimental Council of Queen's York Rangers and to Central Ontario MacLeod Society. Born in Briely Hill, England on September 21, 1914 to her cherished late parents Job and Maud (BRADBURY) GREEN. Entered into rest at Faith Manor, Brampton, Ontario on Tuesday, January 3, 2006. Clara, beloved wife of the late Robert MILLS. Devoted mother of the late Robert J. MILLS. Dear mother-in-law of Pat MILLS. Loved grandmother of Stacie Davey and great-grandmother of Todd, Matthew and Stephanie. Predeceased by her brother Wesley Green, survived by her sister-in-law Annie Green. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Complete services and committal prayers will be held at the graveside in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery (Garden of the Good Shepherd), 33 Memory Gardens Lane, Don Mills, Ontario on Friday, January 6, 2006 at two o'clock. Of Cherry Valley, formerly of Toronto, at the age of 69, at his home, on Saturday, January 14th, 2006. Beloved husband of Mable "Mae". Loving father of Lorraine and her husband Clinton of Toronto, Leann and her husband Stephen of Brampton, Lincoln of Barrie and the late Lionel and Lance.
