It is with deep sadness we announce the death of Wilfred A.J. ROY, in his 80th year on January 25, 2006, as a result of an auto collision in Florida while on holiday. Survived by his beloved wife, Marcelle (née BERTRAND.) Father of Lorraine and Janusz WROBEL (Dundas,) Claire and Tim WEBER (Stratford) and Julie and Paul STEINBERG (Boston, Massachusetts.) Loving grandfather of Amelia and Sophie WEBER, and uncle to many beloved nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Eugene and Delphine ROY (Pain-Court,) brothers Ernest and Norman, and sister Alice BECHARD. Survived by sisters Annette STRONG, Evelyn PARENT and Jeannette COFFEY. After obtaining his degree in Civil Engineering, Mr ROY enjoyed an active and successful farming career in Pain-Court and area. He was a key member of countless agricultural boards, earning him an honoured place in the Kent County Agricultural Hall of Fame. The family announces with sorrow of his death on July 10th, 2006, Mr. Alphonse BLAIN of London, formerly of Timmins at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his wife Jacqueline BLAIN. Loving father of Charlotte (David) McLEAN and Jerome BLAIN. Proud grandfather of Catherine and Paul McLEAN. Dear brother of Janet CHAPMAN. Predeceased by his parents Rose-de-Lima BLAIN (BÉRUBÉ) (1916) and Sigefroy BLAIN (1942) and his sisters, Thérèse DENIS and Rose-de-Lima DESNOYERS. He is fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. Mr. BLAIN was a veteran of World War 2 as a Corporal in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He has been a continuing member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 88) in Timmins. Earlier in his life, he had a successful career in sales. For 22 years he worked as comptroller for CFCL Radio and Television and was co-owner of Eddy Office Supply for several years in Timmins. He then returned to sales until his retirement at the young age of 78. Visitation will be held at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, (2 blocks north of Oxford), on Friday from 2: 00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7: 30 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Communauté Sainte-Marguerite-d'Youville, 920 Huron Street, London, on Saturday at 1: 00 p.m. Interment will follow at a later date. BERZINS, Janis
Born April 17, 1917, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2006 at the age of 89. He is survived by Ina, his loving wife of 64 years, daughter Inara, granddaughters Linda and Kristina SOUTAR. Janis was born in Skulte, Latvia. He and his family fled at the end of World War 2 to Sweden, where they lived for seven years before coming to Canada in 1951. Janis' business life in Canada was spent in the design and manufacture of Christmas trees and ornaments - he was referred to as "Mr. Christmas" by Friends and associates. He loved spending time at his family cottage on Lake Simcoe. Janis' legendary hospitality, love of dancing and his "tippy-toppy" nature will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
