Priest born in Ottawa in 1922.
Raised in Ottawa, he attended elementary school and high school in Ottawa. He was ordained in 1946 and served as an assistant priest in Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Our Lady of Fatima parishes a pastor of St. Isidore's and St. Elizabeth's parishes; and a rector of St. Patrick's parish. He also attended Angelicum University in Rome, where he received a doctorate in canon law in 1952. He was appointed vicar-general for the English Sector of the archdiocese in 1969 and was ordained as auxiliary bishop of Ottawa in 1977. He was appointed senior vicar-general of the Ottawa archdiocese in 1987 with responsibility for the chancery, the treasury and other administrative matters.

Devoted mother of Jim BEAL and his wife Cathy and her dear daughter Sandra SIBBLEY. Before God took her home, we all had the chance to enjoy a delightful afternoon in the hospital café together, along with a few close Friends-a memory we will all hold dear in our hearts. Jo-Anne was born in London on April 20, 1947, the daughter of the late Hector and Betty GILBERT and step-daughter of Rossine GILBERT of Saint Thomas. Good friend of Linda PARKINS and Robert PAYNE, both of Orillia. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Saint Thomas Psychiatric Hospital. She enjoyed bingo, shopping and her Friends. Much missed by her sons Serge Liros (Blue Hill, Maine) and friend Kathy BEAL, Alex LIROS (Toronto) and George LIROS (Easton, Pennsylvania.) Lovingly remembered by her four grand-daughters: Nicole SIMMS and husband Jonathan and their two children Dylan and Hannah (Schenectady, New York), Christina LIROS and Joe RICHARDS (Greenville, Maine), Sara VEGA- LIROS and Janice and their family (Turner's Falls, Massachusetts), and Alexandra LIROS (Greenville, Maine.) Captain Nichola Kathleen Sarah GODDARD was killed in action, Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in the Panjway district, Kandahar, Afghanistan. Nichola was born on May 2, 1980, in Madang, Papua New Guinea. Nichola is mourned by her husband, Jason BEAM, of Shilo, Manitoba her parents Tim and Sally GODDARD; and sisters Victoria and Kate, of Calgary, Alberta; grandparents Betty GODDARD and the late Anthony GODDARD (Llangwnnadl, North Wales) and Michael and Kathleen WEST (Sault Ste Marie, Ontario). On her father's side, uncles Simon (Heather) GODDARD, Aberdaron, North Wales; Paul (Janet, Rachel, Jack), Rainham, Kent; Patrick, Colwyn Bay, North Wales and Michael (Corinne, Sebastian), Croydon, Surrey.
