Katharina came to Canada in 1953 from Austria. Together with her husband Martin they operated the Elm Motel and Service Station in Aylmer for 21 years. Predeceased by 3 sisters Margaret MacINTYRE, Edna OWLES and Grace CUMMINGS and a brother Bruce HAMBLETON. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Charles was born in Saint Thomas on January 5, 1923. He served overseas during World War 2 in Sicily, Italy and Europe. He was a member of the Legion. Caring friend and former husband of Dorothy. Fun loving grandfather of eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Stan will also be missed by his brothers and sisters: Harold (Gladys) of Windsor, Bruce of London, Herb (Carole) of Windsor, Cathy DURLEY (John) of Saint Marys and Ernie (Barbara) of Brampton, as well as his many nieces, nephews and Friends. Loved brother-in-law of Ernie NEMETH (Betty) of Brampton. Predeceased by sisters Florence BARR and Evelyn ROSSITER and his brother Jack. Stan had a zest for life and a sharp wit his entire life. Born to parents from the Isle of Man and Scotland, Stan was deeply loyal to his family and had a strong appreciation for his roots. He enjoyed living abroad during his many years as an executive for the Ford Motor Company. Stan was a talented artist, a keen car enthusiast and a supporter of Habitat for Humanity, with strong interests in current events. He was passionately interested in his family and Friends and always had an encouraging word for each one. Andrew Jonathan PRINCE died on June 22, 2006 in hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina after a heroic battle with a lengthy illness. Andrew is survived by his parents Teri (STROSBERG) PRINCE and Gus (PRISTUPA) PRINCE, his brother Stephen Alexander PRINCE, his grandmother Sylvia STROSBERG, his aunts and uncles, Susan EANSOR (New York and Charlotte), Harvey and Cathy STROSBERG (Windsor) and Marg and John STEWARD/STEWART/STUART (Toronto,) and his cousins, Elaine STROSBERG, Sharon STROSBERG, Jay STROSBERG, David STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, Heather STEWARD/STEWART/STUART, Marni LYONS, Franklin LYONS, Howard BARR, David ROBINS, Jordana STROSBERG and Josh HALIBURTON. He was predeceased by his grandparents Gus and Mary PRISTUPA, and his grandfather Philip STROSBERG. Andrew was loved and admired throughout his very short life. Andrew was born in Toronto on June 4, 1983. He attended the York School until moving to North Carolina in 1996. A 2001 graduate of Union Pines High School, Andrew majored in mathematics at the University of North Carolina. He was awarded numerous scholarships and honors including the Discover Card Gold Tribute Award. Andrew spent the last two years of his life courageously enduring his illness while still pursuing his special interests in music, cinema, science, aviation and travel. He was the ultimate Renaissance man. We will miss him forever. Betty GRAY/GREY died at the Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, Ontario on Thursday, September 15, 2006 after a brief illness. She was the eldest of three daughters of Ruth Denovan GRAY/GREY and Victor Evan GRAY/GREY, K.C., M.A., LL.B. of Toronto. Her sister Joan GRAY/GREY died in 2001 in Toronto and Ruth Gray SCHATZ lives with her husband Doctor Stanley SCHATZ in Oakville. Betty is survived by her nephew, Douglas Evan SCHATZ, his wife Meryl HALLS and their children in London, England; and by her three nieces, Deberah Jean GRIFFITHS, her husband Doctor Fred GRIFFITHS and their children in Ottawa; Doctor Jennifer Ruth SCHATZ, her husband Doctor Vernon STRINGER and their children in Ottawa; Julia Elizabeth SCHATZ, her husband John BARRACK and their children in Toronto. She was proud of her 10 grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Raised in Toronto, she graduated from Moulton College and Victoria College, University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Social-Work. In World War Two, Betty enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Womens' Division, becoming an officer in Operations at Patricia Bay Air Station on Vancouver Island, a base for coastal patrol aircraft and fighter squadrons particularly important in the defence of America after Pearl Harbour. Taking advantage of her benefits as a veteran, she went to the University of Chicago for her Masters degree in Psychiatric Social-Work. She joined the professional staff of Social Service, Neuro-psychiatric Division, at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. In 1960 she moved to Kingston to be Director of Social Services at the Kingston General Hospital and held that position until her retirement in 1983. In her retirement, she took classes in English at Queen's University and received a Bachelor of Arts degree at age 80. Betty had a life long interest in the arts. She was very active in the University Alumnae Dramatic Club, now the Alumnae Theatre, in Toronto, holding executive positions, joining in stage crews, and, especially, creating memorable period costumes for productions destined for Dominion Drama Festivals. She continued to share her expertise and enthusiasm with the Domino Theatre during her years in Kingston. With Frances HALPENNY of Toronto, her good friend from Alumnae Theatre days, Betty enjoyed many years attending performances at the Stratford and Shaw Festival Theatres. She was a constant patron of the Canadian Opera Company, the National Ballet of Canada, and the Kingston Symphony and a member of the Kingston Opera Guild. She played the drums as a member of the LaSalle Adult Concert Band. She was a longtime active member of the Kingston Field Naturalists. Throughout her life she was blessed with a wonderful circle of dear Friends. Her family is sincerely grateful for their help and support in the last difficult months. Betty's Friends are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday, September 30th at 2: 00 p.m. at The Outdoor Centre at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area., located just north of Highway 401 and Division Street in Kingston.
