Beloved wife of John Hopper. Passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer, her family by her side at Mississauga Trillium Health Centre on Friday, February 24, 2006. Loving mother of Laurie LETOURNEAU and mother-in-law of Frank DE FILIPPIS of Oakville. Cherished grandma to Kieran and Carter. Loved by sisters Sheila, Daphne, and Jackie and their families. Sadly missed by mother Louise BUCKLEY of St. Catharines. Longtime dear friend to Nancy and Bill PIERCE and Doug and Mary WOOLLEY. The devotion shown by many Friends and the respect of dedicated caregivers kept Patricia's spirits soaring even in difficult times. Special thank you to the wonderful and caring nurses at St. Elizabeth and in the Oncology Clinic and unit 4B at Trillium Health Centre, as well as to Dr. Michael KING and Dr. Don COLLINS- WILLIAMS. With God's blessing, we celebrate the memory of Wladyslaw "Walter" CHWIECKO who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, April 13, 2006 in his 78th year after a brave and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Poland on August 28, 1928, Wladyslaw arrived in Canada in 1949 to start a new life. Wladyslaw will forever be remembered by his wife of 53 years, Anastazja (ANDRONOWICZ.) He is also survived by his children and their families including Richard (son) and Lorraine and grandchildren Aleksy, Andrzej and Alyssa; Henry (son) and Michelle; Barbara (daughter) and Arthur Warchol and grandchildren Adam, Brandon, Brittany and Brianna. Brother of Helen KLUKA of Poland, Bronislawa HULANICKI (Ted) and Chester CHWIECKO (Krystyna) of London. Brother-in-law of Wladyslaw ANDRONOWICZ. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sister Lucy ALASZKIEWICZ. Wladyslaw will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for all the benevolent work he did, by his dedication to the S.P.K. Polish Combatants Association, his church, the Polish school and community and the many lives he touched. The family will receive visitors on Monday from 2: 00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St. (South of King). The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church (419 Hill St.) on Tuesday at 10: 00 a.m. Interment in Saint Peter's Cemetery. Prayers Monday at 7: 00 p.m.

Born to August and Mary (SCHMIDT) MANTO on March 13, 1912, passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Durham on Monday, April 24, 2006, in her 95th year. Survived by her brother Harold and Margaret MANTO. Beloved aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Vincent and son Paul, sisters Marie BRISTOW, Clara STEUERNOL, Lillian ANDROSS, Ruth BARRENS and Eilleen (infant) and her brother Herman MANTO. Gertrude resided in London for many years before moving to Rockwood Terrace Retirement Home, Durham in 2005. She had a love of reading, music and a great passion for knitting and creating many beautiful projects. She will be sadly missed by her new Friends at Rockwood Terrace. Visitors will be received at the John T. Donohue Funeral Home, 362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London on Wednesday morning from 11: 30 until 12:30 o'clock. 78, died peacefully at home after an exhausting battle with cancer on Thursday, March 9, 2006. He was surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary KOZIOL (née ANDRUCH,) and his six daughters Carol KOZIOL of London, Jane ARNOTT and her husband Ken of London, Natasha KOZIOL of London, Valerie KOZIOL of Barrie, Ann Marie SIMONE and her husband Ron of Niagara-on-the-Lake, and Andrea KOZIOL and her husband Thomas NEUSPIEL of Toronto. "Dedo" will be missed by grandchildren Luke, Brock, Ben, Calvin, Erika, Kurtis, Kyra, Teri, Sacha and Isabella. Also survived by niece Doris. Predeceased by parents, Gregor and Natalia, by brother Fred, and by nephew John. John was born in Porichya, Belarus (Poland) in 1927 and emigrated to Canada in 1939. He taught at Beal Secondary School, retiring in 1986. He was a gifted musician and loved the solace of nature. His presence will be missed. At John's request, there will no visitation or funeral service. A private family funeral will be held. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada. On Monday May 29, 2006 at Royal Victoria Hospital in his 83rd year. Dearly loved husband of Muriel (née PEARSALL,) daughter of the late George and Harriet PEARSALL. Also survived by his sisters Olga and her husband Joseph TURCHENEK of Regina, Myrtle KOWALCHUK of Regina, Sue and her husband Al MOSHER of Saskatoon, and brother Bob and his wife Elsie of Saskatoon. Brother-in-law of Lloyd PEARSALL and his wife Kay of Calgary, Joyce SMITH and her husband Dean of Santa Ana, California, and Thelma COCKBURN of Barrie. A World War 2 veteran with service in Italy and north- west Europe with the Loyal Edmonton regiment. He remained in the Canadian Armed Forces on return to Canada in 1945 and served in various training, staff, and command appointments until retirement from the Regular Forces in December 1975 after 34 years of continuous service. His major appointments included command of the 2nd Battalion of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada 1964-1966, senior Training Advisor to the Commander of the Tanzanian Peoples Defence Forces 1966-1967, Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of Ontario Region 1969-1971, and Canadian Forces Attache in Warsaw, Poland 1972-1974. On transfer to Supplementary Reserve in 1976, he served as Deputy Commander and the Commander of the Central Militia Area 1976-1980. On retirement from the Regular Forces, he was appointed President and General Manager of the Ontario Safety League serving in that post until reaching retirement age in 1988. Genia born on February 5, 1909 at Telega, Romania, passed away on April 14, 2006 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Travelled alone across occupied Europe to wed Thomas Carlyon Purser ANDRUS, (deceased April 1982) at Scapa Floe, Orkney Islands, March 12, 1940 by Reverend SCARFE, Naval chaplain aboard His Majesty's Battleship, Hood. Genia was fluent in Romanian, German, French, and English. She lived in Scotland, England, Portugal, and South Wales, before emigrating to Canada in 1954. Lived in Toronto, and Wooler, Ontario. Montreal, and Charlottetown. Survived by her only son Donald ANDRUS and his wife Eun-Mee YANG of Flat River Prince Edward Island. Genia wished to be remembered by those who knew her as a woman known for her loyalty, fearless spirit, and great good humour. According to her wishes there will be no services held.
