With God's blessing, we celebrate the memory of Wladyslaw "Walter"
CHWIECKO who passed away peacefully surrounded by his family
on Thursday, April 13, 2006 in his 78th year after a brave and
courageous battle with cancer. Born in Poland on August 28, 1928,
Wladyslaw arrived in Canada in 1949 to start a new life. Wladyslaw
will forever be remembered by his wife of 53 years, Anastazja
(ANDRONOWICZ.) He is also survived by his children and their
families including Richard (son) and Lorraine and grandchildren
Aleksy, Andrzej and Alyssa; Henry (son) and Michelle; Barbara
(daughter) and Arthur Warchol and grandchildren Adam, Brandon,
Brittany and Brianna. Brother of Helen

will be sadly missed and fondly remembered for all the benevolent
work he did, by his dedication to the S.P.K. Polish Combatants
Association, his church, the Polish school and community and
the many lives he touched. The family will receive visitors on
Monday from 2: 00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the O'Neil Funeral
Home, 350 William St. (South of King). The Funeral Mass will
be celebrated in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church (419 Hill St.)

362 Waterloo Street at King Street, London on Wednesday morning
from 11: 30 until 12:30 o'clock. Funeral Mass at Saint_Joseph's

"Dedo" will be missed by grandchildren Luke, Brock, Ben, Calvin,
Erika, Kurtis, Kyra, Teri, Sacha and Isabella. Also survived
by niece Doris. Predeceased by parents, Gregor and Natalia, by
brother Fred, and by nephew John. John was born in Porichya,
Belarus (Poland) in 1927 and emigrated to Canada in 1939. He
taught at Beal Secondary School, retiring in 1986. He was a gifted
musician and loved the solace of nature. His presence will be
missed. At John's request, there will no visitation or funeral
service. A private family funeral will be held. Interment Woodland
Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Brain
Tumor Foundation of Canada. Heartfelt thanks to the St. Elizabeth
Health Care Community Care Access Centre Team and the St. Joseph's

of Barrie. A World War 2 veteran with service in Italy and north-
west Europe with the Loyal Edmonton regiment. He remained in
the Canadian Armed Forces on return to Canada in 1945 and served
in various training, staff, and command appointments until retirement
from the Regular Forces in December 1975 after 34 years of continuous
service. His major appointments included command of the 2nd Battalion
of The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada 1964-1966, senior Training
Advisor to the Commander of the Tanzanian Peoples Defence Forces
1966-1967, Chief of Staff and Deputy Commander of Ontario Region
1969-1971, and Canadian Forces Attache in Warsaw, Poland 1972-1974.
On transfer to Supplementary Reserve in 1976, he served as Deputy
Commander and the Commander of the Central Militia Area 1976-1980.
On retirement from the Regular Forces, he was appointed President
and General Manager of the Ontario Safety League serving in that
post until reaching retirement age in 1988. Friends may call
at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home (Clapperton and Worsley
Streets) Barrie from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral Service
in the Chapel on Saturday June 3, 2006 at 11: 00 a.m. Cremation.
