Passed away April 29, 2005. He was born in Clydebank, Scotland
on August 21, 1921. Survived by his loving wife, Betty
McOUAT.
Jack served in both World War 2 and the Korean conflict in the
Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regiment. There will be a private

Nesbitt
81, formerly of Toronto, died peacefully on Saturday, April 30,
2005 in Hartford, Connecticut. Born to Arthur Douglas and Helen
Nesbitt FARQUHAR in Sandy Spring, Maryland, a small Quaker community
north of Washington, he spent his childhood on the family farm
and graduated from Episcopal High School of Virginia. After serving
in the U.S. Army from 1943-46, he completed his B.A. at Yale
University in 1948. In 1954 he obtained an L.L.B. from the University
of Connecticut. Gordon's distinguished professional career began
at Aetna Life and Casualty in Hartford, where he worked from 1948-1974
until his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Aetna Canada,
a Toronto-based group of insurance companies including The Excelsior
Life Insurance Company and Aetna Casualty Company of Canada.
He held this position until retirement in 1989, at which time
he returned to the U.S. to settle near the ocean in Rhode Island.
Family and Friends were central to Gordon's life. His survivors
include his wife of 53 years, Virginia "Ginger"

FORBUSH predeceased him. He especially treasured the many Friendships
established during his years in Canada. Gordon extended his capable
leadership and generous spirit to a number of volunteer organizations
including the Toronto Symphony, Toronto Redevelopment Advisory
Council, Clarke Institute of Psychiatry, United Way of Greater
Toronto, and Hartford Symphony Orchestra. Favorite pursuits included
travel, tennis, golf, cross-country skiing, gardening, splitting
wood, baking cakes, and hosting family and Friends at "Strawberry
Hill", their house in the Mulmur Hills. A memorial service is
planned for May 29 in Westerly, Rhode Island. In lieu of flowers,
the family suggests contributions to the Hartford Symphony Orchestra,
228 Farmington Avenue, Hartford, Connecticut 06105. For online
