It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of "Our Sweetie" Kathleen Beryl MEENDERING; née WAKE. " Oms" died peacefully in her home surrounded by family and Friends on Tuesday, June 7th, 2005. Born in Reading, England, in 1917, Beryl immigrated to Canada as a young child with her parents John and Ivy WAKE. She met and married Jan MEENDERING in Stratford where he was stationed with the Netherlands Army. Beryl was predeceased by her husband Jan and brother Austin WAKE. Mother to Jennifer and Tom BRIGGS of Bramalea, Jill MEENDERING- SMITH and Kevin SMITH, Saint Thomas. Laurel and Peter PUTNAM, Saint Thomas and Austin MEENDERING, London. Oma to Tara (Joshua), Krist in (Brad), Joe (Nicole), Jac, Sarah and Jess. Beloved sister to Bud, Helen and Velma. Also loved by all her nieces and nephews as well as family in the Netherlands and England. Treasured friend of Lily WOLTERBEEK. Beryl resided in Stratford, Bala and Saint Thomas. She was an active member of Saint John's Anglican and Knox Presbyterian Church. Most of all Beryl has left us with an admiration and wonderment of her love for all and her joy of life. At her request family and Friends are invited to visit with the family at Beryl's home, 59 Rosebery Place, Saint Thomas, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Friday at 2: 00 p.m. to celebrate Beryl's life. Born in Blackwater, Hants, England, July 29th, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Edith Mary (OBORNE- PIGGOTT) and Sidney James GODDARD. Kitty immigrated with her family to Cobalt, Ontario, in May 1907, later moving to the Toronto Area. Kitty was predeceased by husbands James Foston BLENKIN and Harold Cameron HEMENWAY, daughter Frances MADIGAN (Basil,) and sisters Dorothy WAKEFIELD, Ruby WILKES and Nancy WESTON, all of Toronto. She will be sadly missed by her surviving children, Marie BROUGHTON (George) of Bracebridge, Ontario, Steve HEMENWAY (Carole) of Kingston, Nova Scotia and Kerry MATERI of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
