Lateral Sclerosis surrounded by his loving family, his books,
and his art. He leaves behind his beloved wife and loyal companion

Canada, Rome, Barcelona, Brussels and Luxembourg. Predeceased
by his parents and his brother. Friend to many, gentleman to
all, medievalist, nature lover, world traveler, passionate art
and book collector. Enthusiastic fundraiser for numerous charities
and cultural institutions. Dedicated volunteer to many community
projects and worthwhile causes. Born in Scutari he was raised
and educated in Vienna, Paris and Pisa. He joined the Italian
Resistance in 1943 with a Christian-Democratic group and after
the war was awarded a gold medal for actions in support of U.S.
General Mark W. Clark's 5th Army in Tuscany, 1944. After two
and a half years with a United Nations agency in Milan helping
refugees from Eastern Europe he left Italy and came to Canada
in 1951. He immediately started volunteer work with immigrant
and community associations. In 1954 he co-founded Corriere Canadese
and in 1955 Corriere del'Quebec. In 1956 he joined the Sorbara
Group and began his insurance career with Adriatic Insurance.
In 1965 he became associated with Manulife Financial and enjoyed
a brilliant career which lasted 40 years. He continued to meet
the insurance needs of his Friends and clients until a few months
before his death. A proud and zealous member of Rotary since
1959 he was most grateful for the opportunity it gave him to
ser ve the local and international community. Rotary always played
a very important part in his life. Early supporter and fundraiser
for Villa Colombo (1971), Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees
of the McMichael Gallery (Kleinberg) 1982-1988, co-founder of
the Mississauga Art Gallery (1987). In 1989 he raised the funds
and helped bring to completion the first Public Art Partnership
Sculpture Program for the Mississauga Art Gallery. This monumental
sculpture was later dismantled and temporarily displayed in Atlanta
commemorating Canada's participation in the 1996 Olympic Games.
Promoter of the fundraising development committee at the Pontifical
Institute of Mediaeval Studies. A substantial financial contribution
in his honour was made by Manulife Financial towards the purchase
of the Rotary Health Care Bus which serves underprivileged and
homeless people in downtown Toronto. Lately, Gaspar was also
instrumental in having Manulife finance the construction of five
buildings for Habitat for Humanity. O Divine Master, grant that

as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving
that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And

in Pickering. Wife of the late John W.
BONNELL for over 50 years,
loving mother of sons Bob and Brian, cherished grandmother to
Christopher, Timothy and Phillip. Ruth survived her five dear
Thurston brothers, Roy, Ken, Art, Gord and Bruce, all formerly
from Montreal West, and is fondly remembered by all her nieces
and nephews on both sides of her family. Ruth was church secretary
at Trinity Anglican Church in Saint John, New Brunswick for many
years and was active in the church choir as well as the Alter
Guild. She was also an avid curler in her younger years and loved
the outdoors. Ruth and John both were active volunteers with
the Canadian Red Cross, "Meals on Wheels" and with the Literacy
Council of New Brunswick. Special thanks to the nursing staff
at Lafontaine Lodge for their kindness and the wonderful care
afforded to Ruth in her final years. As interment will be in
Saint John, New Brunswick in August, there will be no visitation
but a private memorial service will be held in Pickering at a
time to be announced. The family requests that donations be made

The family announces her death on June 23, 2005 in Barrie, Ontario
at the age of 94. She is survived by her sons Phil (Nancy) in
Sudbury, Jon (Gloria) in Toronto, and Stephen (Diane) in Mississauga,
four grandchildren, and one great-grand_son as well as her sister
Betty SUGGITT in St. Albert, Alberta. She was predeceased by
her husband Erwin Cole
THURSTON (1983) and her brother Russell.
She was born and raised in Montreal and, as a young woman, became
an employee of the Girl Guides of Canada in Toronto. Upon her
marriage during World War 2, she moved to Cap de la Madeleine,
Quebec, followed over the years by moves to Montreal, Gloucester
City, New Jersey, Stratford, Ontario, Waterloo, Ontario and Barrie,
Ontario. She lived a full, adventurous life raising her family
of three active boys, all interested in the outdoors. She took
a keen interest in the education of her children as they progressed
to university. Her involvement with the Girl Guides was an important
part of her life, spanning over 50 years, with involvement at
the Guide company to the Provincial and National levels. So,
for a mother with three sons, she also mentored many girls and
young women through Guiding. A memorial service will be held
at Knox Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, Ontario, at 2 p.m. on
Monday, July 18.

California. Tom was born in the village of Grange, Co. Sligo,
Ireland and immigrated to Canada in the early 1950's, he was
a proud Canadian but never lost his love for his place of birth.
In keeping with Tom's wishes, his body has been donated to the
School of Anatomy, Queen's University and his eyes to the eye
bank. A Memorial Mass and a celebration of Tom's life will be
held at a later date yet to be arranged. As expressions of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to Cancer Research Foundation
or your favourite charity. His family wishes to thank the Saint
Elizabeth Health Care for the wonderful care provided to Tom,
particular thanks to Vicky, Ruth, Elizabeth and Gennaro. Thanks
