Born in Weston, Ontario on December 21, 1917; died at Westmount,
Quebec on February 1, 2005. The youngest daughter of Elsie
TOMPKINS
and Harvey
SCYTHES.
She attended Oakwood Collegiate, Victoria
College (3T9) and the Institute of Child Study of the University
of Toronto. In 1944 she married George
STODDART.
She taught kindergarten
in the Toronto Public School System and retired from Niagara
Street Public School in 1982. Her many interests included birdwatching
and music and she was a longtime chorister at St. Paul's Anglican
Church in Toronto. Upon retirement, she was a volunteer for the
Grange, the Sick Children's Hospital and the Architectural Conservancy
Society. In 1990, she moved to Montreal to live with her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband, her sons Peter and Paul and
her sister Eleanor
McKINNON.
She leaves behind her daughter Jennifer
(Clement DEMERS,) her grand_sons Nicolas and Patrick, her sister
Joyce GOODBRAND, her nieces Gerda
HALLIDAY,
Marlene
GOODBRAND,
Christine DALZIEL, her nephews Kenneth
GOODBRAND and Stephen
McKINNON and many grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a hospital for children.
A funeral will be held at noon on Friday, February 4, at St.
Matthias Anglican Church; 131 Cote St. Antoine, Westmount (933-4295).
A reception at 120A Arlington will follow.

at the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St. South, Newmarket
on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at
Saint John Chrysostom Church, Newmarket on Saturday, July 23 at
11 a.m., followed by interment at Saint John's Cemetery. Memorial
donations to to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
