Peacefully passed away at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, on Sunday, December 11, 2005, in his 73rd year. Beloved brother and brother-in-law of Josip BALEN and his wife Ana, Ika RUPCIC and her husband Petar and cousin of Josip VIDAKOVIC and his family in Canada, along with three sisters, Marinka, Kajica and Danica and their families in Croatia. Dear uncle of Marinka BALEN- LITTLE, Marko BALEN, Monika VUCIC, Zrinjka REEVES and Danny RUPCIC and their families. As the cornerstone of the BALEN family and his community, George will be fondly remembered by many relatives and Friends. Friends and family will be received at the Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville (one block east of Kerr Street, 905-844-2600) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10: 00 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2005 at Holy Trinity Croatian Catholic Church, 2110 Trafalgar Road, Oakville. Interment to follow at Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Catholic Parish in Sv. Rok, Croatia would be appreciated by the family. Dear mother of Jack and Margo, Gerry and Helen, Peter and Gerrie, David and Nancy, Linda and Pete, Joyce, Chris and Bev, Steve and Pauline. Loving grandma to 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Cherished sister to Nell VERKAIK (late Peter,) Chris and Katie, Sierk and Hilda. Catherine is predeceased by her son Bill and grand_son Justin. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her six brothers and three sisters. Tante Dien will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews both here and in Holland. On April 19, 2005. Beloved husband of Margot. Cherished father Cynthia (Toronto), Janine (Toronto), Craig and daughter-in-law Cheryl (Chestermere, Alberta), Jay and daughter-in-law Jenn (Jasper, Alberta). Loving Grandpa to Alexandria, Harrison, Mitchell, Bentley and week-old twins, Dexter and Donovan. Dear brother of Ron, brother-in-law of Barbara FAWCETT (Toronto) and Nancy RUPNIK (Deux Montagnes, Québec), and uncle of four nieces and two nephews. Sadly missed by his stepmother, Leola FAWCETT (Collingwood.) Predeceased by his loving parents, Evelyn and Herb FAWCETT. Honesty and integrity were the values that guided Jim's life. He was committed to maintaining the high standards of the profession of dentistry through his involvement with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, the licensing body for Ontario dentists, and every day in his 40 years as a practising dentist. He enthusiastically participated for many years as a member of Lindsay Town Council, Lindsay Board of Parks Management, Lindsay Police Services Board, and many other volunteer activities. Fondly remembered by his former colleagues, patients and staff. He was also known for his great meals and warm hospitality, and leaves many Friends who shared his passions for skiing, tennis, cottage life, and lively discussions. Special thanks to our supportive Friends and the caring healthcare providers in Toronto, Dr. Carol SWALLOW, Dr. Lois LANGLOIS and the staff on 14th Floor North, Mount Sinai Hospital, Dr. David HEDLEY and Dr. B. CUMMINGS at Princess Margaret Hospital, Dr. HO, Nephrology Department, Toronto General Hospital, and in Lindsay at the Ross Memorial Hospital and Dr. Mervyn STONE, who collectively enabled him to enjoy a fulfilling quality of life during his last eight years as a cancer patient. Visitation from 11-12 and 1-3 on Saturday, April 23rd at Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay K9V 3L9 (705-328-2721). At his request, there will be a private Celebration of his Life. A family interment of his ashes at Riverside Cemetery, Lindsay, will follow later in the year. The family of Susan "Lynn" ALLEN, R.N. of London sadly announces her passing on Saturday, May 7, 2005. Very special wife and best friend of Arthur ALLEN. Loving mother to Denise ALLEN and partner Glen MARTINS and Julie and husband Mike BLAIR. Dear sister of Debbie and Bill BARRETT. Loving daughter of John and the late Inez WILLIAMS. Special daughter-in-law to Dot and Glen ALLAN. Also missed by her sister-inlaw Gwen RUPP and family, by her extended family and many Friends. Lynn was a proud member of the health care team at Children's Hospital of London. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2: 00-4:00 and 7: 00-9:00 p.m. at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, where the memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, May 12th, 2005 at 11 a.m. The family will gratefully acknowledge donations made to the Lynn Allen Memorial Nursing Scholarship (additional information to be given in Tuesday edition). Predeceased by her eldest sister, Irene HOLMES (1987) and her youngest son, James Robert PEAL (1969.) She's walkin' again now! It is with deep sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, cherished father, and dear grandfather, Walter, on September 11th, 2005, in his 77th year. Beloved husband of Margot, for over 50 years. Much loved father of Wolfgang and his wife Fiona, Roy and his wife Rose, Stewart and his wife Sharine. Predeceased by his parents, Julie and Erhard, of Germany. Beloved brother of Sophie, Eric, Renate and Guenter. Cherished grandfather of Elizabeth, Mercedes and Brock; Ryan, Troy and Chloe; Brittany, Savannah, Xavier and India. Walter and Margot emigrated from Germany in 1956 to start and build a new life in Canada. A successful building contractor, Walter was involved in the construction of hundreds of schools, churches, factories and buildings throughout the Greater Toronto Area and beyond. It is not possible to travel in this city, without viewing a building structure formed by this great man. He will be sadly missed by many... his beloved family, his loyal Friends, his employees and business associates, as well as the many whom were given the opportunity to meet and work with him over his lifetime. Friends may call at Turner and Porter "Peel" Chapel 2180 Hurontario St. (Hwy. #10 North of Queen Elizabeth Way) on Thursday, September 15 at 3 o'clock for a Service of Remembrance with visitation one hour prior to service time.
