Robert died suddenly in his home on Sunday, June 26th, 2005. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Audrey Evelyn (née RIPLEY) and children Rebecca, Susan (Hugh) and Robert; grandchildren Charles and Harison. Predeceased by his parents and a brother, Jack, and sister, Lora. NISBET, Ronald Nicol
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Ronald (Nick) NISBET in his 79th year on Thursday February 17th, 2005.
Dearly beloved husband for 54 years of Vera (née MARTIN.) Cherished father of Vivian (John) EMERY and Gary (Maureen) NISBET all of London. He was much loved and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Jeff (Rhonda), Heather (Kris), Jenny, Connor and Spencer. Ronnie is survived by his brother George (Audrey) NISBET of Burlington and many nieces and nephews.
Ron retired from Bell Canada in 1983 after 37 years of service. He spent many years volunteering with the Children's Miracle Network Telethon where he was fondly known as “Mr. Wear Your Bear.” Many thanks from his family for the wonderful medical care he received during his long illness. Special thanks to all the staff at the Cancer Clinic, Victorian Order of Nurses and Community Care Access Centre. A very special thanks to Victorian Order of Nurses Barb CONRAD, Ron's faithful friend.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Metropolitan United Church, 468 Wellington Street, London on Saturday, February 26, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. with Reverend Bob RIPLEY officiating. She was predeceased by her two brothers Graydon and Warren GROOMBRIDGE. She was the dear sister-in-law of JoAn GROOMBRIDGE of Sarnia. Cremation has taken place. Dear mother of Franklin and Augustine MORRISH of Tyrconnell, Helen and Robert BELCHER of London. Grandmother of Vicky, Stanley and Aleck SWAIN, Christopher and Timothy BELCHER. Great grandmother Alice to 10. Alice was the last member of Inglis and Lillie Ripley's family. Alice and Aleck were proprietors of Eagle General Store for twenty seven years and they enjoyed playing music for local dances. The family is thankful for the loving care Alice received during her eight years at Bobier Villa. Bryan SMITH passed away peacefully with his family by his side at University Hospital in London, Ontario, on Tuesday, October 18, 2005 after a short illness. Bryan was born on April 12, 1939 in Toronto, and was the eldest son of the late Murray and Muriel SMITH of Leaside. He leaves behind his adoring wife and best friend of 43 years, Deanna (DORKIN) and his three children, Bradley and his wife Keri and their two children Ryan and Trent of London, Jeffrey and his wife Dr. Kathryn Coups SMITH, and their two children Rebecca and Pierce of London, Andrea Smith JOLLIFFE and her husband Kevin JOLLIFFE and their two children Hunter and Hayden of Stouffville. Bryan is survived by his brother Douglas Murray SMITH and family of King City, Ontario, his brothers-in-law Ken and his wife Marnie DORKIN of Salmon Arm, British Columbia, Al DORKIN of Toronto and sister-in-law Sandra HOWLAND of Stouffville. Predeceased by his brother Paul, and in-laws George (Bert) and Vera DORKIN all of Toronto. Bryan attended Leaside High School in Toronto where he met the love of his life and was the school goalie. He attended the University of Toronto where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1963 and his Diploma in Orthodontics in 1968. Bryan started his private practice in orthodontics in 1968 on Oxford St. He later moved his practice to Richmond Street where he practiced until he retired in 2002. He was adored by his patients, staff and fellow practitioners. He was honoured to have his family- Andrea, Keri, Jeff and Deanna work with him on the business side of the practice. Kathryn was his only partner and practiced with him since 1997. Bryan taught Graduate Orthodontics at the U.W.O., worked with the Thames Valley Children's Centre cleft lip and palate clinic and was involved with local dental and provincial orthodontic politics. Along with his wife, he enjoyed contributing to his community through many volunteer efforts. Bryan had a true zest for life. He loved his golf at the Hunt Club and in Florida at Quail Ridge, boating in Muskoka, skiing in Colorado, traveling, reading, painting, story-telling and talking. He will be greatly missed by numerous Friends and loved ones. Bryan was the life of the party and his personality was infectious. Friends may call on Friday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond, London. Predeceased by his brother Paul, and in-laws George (Bert) and Vera DORKIN all of Toronto. Bryan attended Leaside High School in Toronto where he met the love of his life and was the school goalie. He attended the University of Toronto where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1963 and his Diploma in Orthodontics in 1968. Bryan started his private practice in orthodontics in 1968 on Oxford St. He later moved his practice to Richmond Street where he practiced until he retired in 2002. He was adored by his patients, staff and fellow practitioners. He was honoured to have his family - Andrea, Keri, Jeff and Deanna - work with him on the business side of the practice. Kathryn was his only partner and practiced with him since 1997. Bryan taught Graduate Orthodontics at the U.W.O., worked with the Thames Valley Children's Centre cleft lip and palate clinic and was involved with local dental and provincial orthodontic politics. Along with his wife, he enjoyed contributing to his community through many volunteer efforts. Bryan had a true zest for life. He loved his golf at the Hunt Club and in Florida at Quail Ridge, boating in Muskoka, skiing in Colorado, travelling, reading, painting, story-telling and talking. He will be greatly missed by numerous Friends and loved ones. Bryan was the life of the party and his personality was infectious. Friends may call on Friday from 1-3 and 7-9 p.m. at the James A. Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James Street at Richmond Street, London. A Celebration of Bryan's Life will be conducted at Metropolitan United Church, 468 Wellington Street at Dufferin Avenue, London, on Saturday, October 22 at 11: 00 a.m. by Reverend Robert C. RIPLEY. Flowers are most welcome as Bryan had a flare for colour and beauty. Mary (Mae) RIPPER passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 4th, 2005 at Versa Care Centre in her 83rd year. Devoted wife of Harvey for 53 years and loving mother of Peter, Kevin (Cathy), Tim (Bertha) and Rosemary. Grandmother of Jesse and Nikki. Also survived by her 2 sisters Elizabeth MacDONALD and Irene GRUMETT. Predeceased by her brother Toby HISHON and her sisters Frances BURTCH and Theresa SKEOCH. Mary was a 50 year member of the C.W.L. most recently at St. Alfred's and a volunteer with St. Vincent de Paul for almost 30 years. Daughter of the late Bill and Helen SHAY/SHEA. Sister of Barbara SHAY/SHEA and sister-in-law of Doris SHELLEY. Pat was born in Toronto and raised in Stratford. After her marriage she resided in Toronto before retiring in Southampton where she had spent many summers.
