STITT, Walter Robert
Walter STITT passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, April 17th, 2005 in Cambridge. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Aileen Dorothy (née GORDON) who passed away on June 17th, 2002. He was the devoted father of Joyce (Len) NEAL, Susan (Frank) SLANEY, Michael, Paul (Karen,) Walter Robert (Pirjo;) beloved grampa to Tammy and Kent CATTO, Sean SLANEY and Melissa KITCHENER, Mellissa and Karim RIAD, Darryl SLANEY and Kirstie, Lindsay NEAL, Ryan and Laura, Derrick, Darryl and Amanda ACHESON and Barry SMUG, Kyle STITT, and Samantha and Spencer STITT. Dear great-grampa to Jessica SLANEY, Julia and Megan KITCHENER, Meghan and Evan CATTO, and Sierra RIAD survived by his brother Dr. Jack and Joyce STITT. He was best buddy to Edith GODDARD. Predeceased by his brothers Herbert and Norman STITT and his sister Eleanor HART. Walter was a veteran of World War 2 and a member of the Governor-General's Horse Guard from 1939. He will be sadly missed and forever remembered by his entire family and many Friends. Walter's family will receive Friends at the Dale Lounsbury Funeral Home, 1766 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge on Wednesday from 2: 00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning at 11: 00 a.m.. As an expression of sympathy, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in memory of Walter. Passed away on November 14, 2005, in Madrid, Spain, at the age of 41.
Loving father to Ines, Nicolas, and Elena. Loving husband to Isabel RIAÑO. Devoted son to John and Marie-Aline WOOD and son-in-law to Maria PILAR and Antonio RIAÑO. Brother and brother-in-law to Alexander and Maggie, Catherine and William, Marta, Javier and Patricia. Uncle to Eleanor, Jane, and Morgan.
Chris's life - although tragically shortened by pancreatic cancer - was a full and active one. He leaves behind, in addition to family, many Friends around the world who will remember his generous nature and open heart.
A funeral service will be held for Chris at Notre-Dame Basilica in Ottawa on Saturday, November 26th at noon. Those wishing to honour Chris's life can make donations to the Canadian or Spanish Cancer Societies.
