LITWILLER, Norma (née TURNER) (1919-2005)
Passed away peacefully at the Kitchener-Waterloo Health Centre of the Grand River Hospital on Sunday, February 27, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Norma was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon LITWILLER on August 12, 1998. Dear mother of Mary Jane HURST and her husband Don of Fonthill, Brenda REBBECK and her husband Jim of Port Rowan, Don and his friend Bev of Kitchener and John and his friend Arthur of Brampton. Sadly missed by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also survived by her twin sister Adell GUTHRIE and her brother Tommy TURNER and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one grand_son Brian MITCHELL, and by her brothers Murray and Gerald TURNER. Norma was a Charter Member of First Baptist Church in Waterloo. Friends are invited to share their memories of Norma with her family at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King Street South in Waterloo on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Norma's life and faith will be held in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, March 3, 2005 at 3 p.m. with Pastor Robert SNELL officiating. Immediately following the service, Friends are invited to join the family in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room for a time of fellowship and refreshments. It is with great sadness the family of Anthony D'Silva, formerly of Nairobi, Kenya, announce his sudden death on November 1, 2005, All Saints Day, in London, England. Beloved brother of Cecelia VAZ (the late Danny,) Josephine REBELLO (Alex,) Cajetan (Hilda,) Rosalind and Maria. Anthony was predeceased by his parents, niece Sylvie and sisters Catherine, Miranda and Agnes DE MELLO. Anthony was an avid soccer fan and in his younger days was Captain of the Nairobi Heroes. At St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre on Monday, June 27, 2005. Memories of Gerry will be shared by Christina, his adored wife for more than 60 years and their children, Catherine FORBES and her daughter, Margot; Ian and his daughters Christine, Jennifer, and Katie Margot and David NEILL and their children Paige (Gavin,) Stacy (Manuel), Jon (Jennifer), David, and Andrew; Graeme and Kim and their children Ali MARCELLA, Cale, and Paris. Gerry will be missed by his sister Doris GOOD, his brother Lyle (Patti;) sisters-in-law Catherine CHOWN, and Betty WHITE/WHYTE (Jim,) and brother-in-law Leonard OLIVER (Lois.) He was the loved Papa of five great-grandchildren and the respected uncle of many nieces and nephews; predeceased by his sister-in-law Kay OLIVER, and brothers-in-law Bill GOOD, Gordon CHOWN, and Ted BARTON. Gerry will also be greatly missed by his special Friends Jack BRAGG (and the late Marion,) Don LUDLOW, and Maria REBELO. Born in Brandon and raised in Regina, Gerry came to Brantford as an Royal Canadian Air Force Flying Instructor during the war and adopted Brantford as his home. A respected business leader, Gerry was the founding President of G.C. McDonald Supply. Gerry provided leadership to a number of volunteer and charitable organizations, some of which include, Chairman of the Brantford Airport Commission, President of the Brantford Flying Club, and President of the Royal Canadian Flying Clubs Association, Clerk-of-Session and Trustee of Zion (St. Andrew's) United Church, President of the Rotary Club of Brantford (a Paul Harris Fellow), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brantford General Hospital, and a member of the Loon Lake Hunting Club. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Beckett-Glaves Family Funeral Centre, 519-752-4331. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at St. Andrew's United Church on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew's United Church, Brantford or the Brantford General Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. Peacefully at the Exeter Villa, on Sunday, February 13, 2005, Gladys (DEW) SIMS, formerly of Hurondale, in her 100th year. Dear wife of the late William (Bill) SIMS (1959.) Beloved mother of Audrey BENTLEY, and Evan and Edna SIMS, all of Exeter. Predeceased by a daughter Labelle SCHMETZER (2004) of Kitchener. Dearly loved by her grandchildren, Katherine BENTLEY of Exeter; Lori SIMS and her husband, Paul D'AUVERGNE of Oakville, Jane SIMS and her husband, Chris HARVEY of London and Bob SIMS of Exeter and his girlfriend, Brenda SIEMON of Dublin. Also survived by ten great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Glad was also predeceased by her sister, Myra (1996) and her husband, Clarence HEYWOOD (1976;) her sons-in-law, Mervin SCHMETZER (1995) and Walter BENTLEY (2001;) her grandchildren, John SCHMETZER (1994,) Marion (BENTLEY) CARTER (2002,) and Steven SIMS (2002;) and great granddaughter, Tina REBELOS (1999.)
Born Gladsy Alice DEW in Usborne Township, on September 4, 1905, Glad lived for almost a century, always in the Exeter area. She loved gardening, quilt making, sewing and above everything else, her family. She was a long time member of the Hurondale Women's Institute and a faithful member of Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church. She remained strongly independent well into her 90s. Friends may call at the Hopper Hockey Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 west of Main, Exeter on Monday evening 7-9 p.m. where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 15th at 2 p.m. with The Reverend Father Bill WARD officiating. MacLEAN, Arbutus Georgina
Mrs. Arbutus Georgina MacLEAN, age 79, of Kingsway Lodge, St. Marys and formerly of Stratford passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness at her residence on Tuesday January 18, 2005. Arbutus was born in McKillop Township, daughter of the late Joseph SMITH and the former Roma DIEGEL. In 1951 she married D. Ross MacLEAN and the couple lived in this area except from 1964 until 1971 when they lived in California. Ross predeceased her October 5, 2000. She was a former employee of Smith-Wagner Stationery and was a childcare worker for a number of years.
Arbutus was devoted to her children and grandchildren. Beloved mother of Brenda HOFF and fiancé Randy FISHER, Leamington, Brad MacLEAN and wife Kathy, London, Bonnie HUDSON and husband Bob, London, Bevin MacLEAN and wife Lisa BRANT, Stratford, Beverley MacLEAN, Arizona. Loving grandmother of Jennifer HOFF, Melissa HOFF, Steven MacLEAN, Morgan MacLEAN. Dear sister of Donna Mae HINZ, Grand Bend, Leona OLDFIELD and husband John, Seaforth. Born in North Easthope Township, she was a daughter of Henry and Lydia (SOEDER) SCHMIDT. She had been an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stratford, the Evangelical Lutheran Women, Zippy Zioners and had taught Sunday School for several years. Beloved wife of Guilford (Jim) YUNDT, whom she married at the church Parsonage on June 15, 1940. Dear mother of Wayne YUNDT and wife Dianne of Stratford and Jean GOMEZ and husband John of Ottawa. Dear grandmother of Jennifer REES and husband Rob of Stratford, Candice McARTHUR and husband Andrew of Stratford, Christina GOMEZ and fiancé Mark MacDONALD of Smiths Falls, Julia GOMEZ and friend Simon LEE of Ottawa, Andrew, Lindsay, Laura and Mark BRENNAN all of Stratford. Lovingly remembered by his nieces Aija REBOKS (Gunnars) of St. Catharines, Dagnija STRAUTNIEKS (John) of Fairview Park, Ohio and Jana KONRADS (Malcolm HEINS) of Oakville and their families. Dearly missed by Sigurds ANDERSONS (Daila) and family of Ottawa as well as many Friends and relatives. The family will receive Friends at the Hulse and English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines 905-684-6346 on Friday, September 2, 2005 from 10-11 a.m., with funeral to follow in the chapel at 11 a.m. Interment in Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
