Died peacefully December 2, 2005 in her 91st year in Halifax.
Elaine was a pioneering broadcaster and was well known as television
Nurse, a program which was seen regularly for 10 years in the
1960's and 1970's by thousands of viewers in Eastern Maine, most
of New Brunswick, western and northern Nova Scotia. She had for
several years been a member of the World Health Organization,
an arm of the United Nations. She was a graduate of Pictou Academy,
the Children's Hospital School of Nursing (Halifax) and McGill
University. Elaine, beautiful, gracious, determined, brave and
fun. Daughter of the former Henry and Ella
MacARTHUR of Pictou.

and nephews. Predeceased by her first husband Dr. Frank
HAZEN
of Saint John New Brunswick, brother Edward, sisters Joyce and
Constance. Acknowledgement and special thanks to the staff of
the Scotia Nursing Home, Beaverbank, for their excellent and
compassionate care. Also thanks to Dr. Chris McKnight for his
guidance and assistance. Finally, the family could not have managed
Mom's illness without the unyielding help of Friends Donna and
Ernie Bellefontaine of Sackville. Visitation will be held on
Tuesday, December 6 from 2-4 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m., at J.A.
Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. The funeral
will take place on Wednesday, December 7 at 1: 00 p.m. at the
Cathedral Church of All Saints, in Halifax, with the Very Reverend
Glen R. Burgomaster officiating. The service will be followed
by a reception in Worrell Hall. Interment will take place at
a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that
donations be made in Elaine's name to the 'Save the Children
Fund'.
