CIFALDI, Maria (née PIRONAGGI)
Surrounded by her loving family, Maria CIFALDI passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, in her 59th year. Beloved wife of Rocco for 41 years. Dearly loved mother of Lina and her husband Nick D'ORIA, Jane and her husband Simon FARRUGIA, Nancy and her husband Dominic MAZZA. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren John, Rocco, Sarah, Selena and Matteo. Predeceased by her parents Giuseppe PIRONAGGI and Maria DEFAZIO of Italy, In-laws Domenico CIFALDI and Nicolina CERICOLA. Also survived by brothers and sister Domenico and wife Assunta PIRONAGGI, Giovannina and husband Amos SGROMO, Antonio PIRONAGGI and wife Angelina TROPEA of Italy. Predeceased by sister Angelina PIRONAGGI and husband Francesco GIGLIOTTI of Italy.
Maria was a remarkable woman. She devoted her entire life to her husband, children, grandchildren, family members and Friends. She was about laughter, good times, cooking, vacations, watching her husband play and coach soccer and more recently - taking up the game of golf - it was her determination to learn the game, even though she had to put up with the "private lessons" given by her husband Rocco. Those lessons paid off however, as she achieved a hole-in-one in 2000 and has won numerous championship flights at Westhaven Golf and County Club. Maria never put anything she wanted to do aside and that is why she has achieved so much. She has achieved satisfaction by taking the time to enjoy what life had to offer her. Even though we are losing her at a relatively young age, she had no regrets in life - and we definitely gained by having such a loving, joyful and strong woman in our lives. Family and Friends will be received at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, on Saturday from 7: 00-9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2: 00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church, 345 Lyle Street, on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. with Father Joseph DABROWSKI officiating and Father Pio D'ORIA assisting. Entombment at St. Peter's Cemetery. At our mother's request, in lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation are asked to consider the Run for Ovarian Cancer, c/o 810 Maitland St, Unit #5, London, Ontario, N5Y 5K3. The family wishes to thank Dr. CAREY, Dr. HARLE and his team as well as all the nurses at London Health Sciences Centre and Parkwood Hospital Palliative Care, who wholeheartedly assisted with her care. Her two Friends from Chatham, she had many, many Friends, I can't begin to name everyone of you, but you know who you are, thank you for your phone calls and visits, all of you made her day. Mother was the kind of Mom where her children came first. She was always there for us, no matter what. She was a hard working woman, she fostered many kids, boarded girls and she treated them all like her own. She will be deeply missed and there is no other like my mother. She always wanted to go home, well mom, you are now, and God, you have her with you. Put your arms around her and give her all the T.L.C. she so well deserves. Thank you mom for everything you have ever done for me always with love. We will always miss you. They say out of sight, out of mind, not true, you will always be loved and never forgotten. Now that you are home rest in peace and love you always. Daughter Ursula.
