With sorrow, the family of Herb CUNNINGHAM announce his peaceful passing on Thursday, August 11, 2005, in his 72nd year, after a courageous battle with cancer, he will be deeply missed. Beloved husband of Denise (née HATCH,) and their four daughters and sons-in-law: Yvonne and Ross PARKER, Sharon and Brett CASHMAN, Marilyn and Peter MUEHLEGG and Lynda CUNNINGHAM and Dean RUSHLOW. Fondly remembered by his ten grandchildren: Sharilyn, Christopher, Scott, Tricia, Kyle, Mitchell, Danielle, Sarah, Taylor and Cole. Herb's lifelong interest in flying lead to his involvement in countless aspects of aviation, most currently as Chairman of the Board for Canadian Owners and Pilots Association and past President of Experimental Aircraft Association of Canada. Herb also enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with family and his many Friends. Schools mourn 'hero' teacher

Two rural communities struggled yesterday to cope with grief after an elementary school teacher collapsed while reading to his class and died.
Mark MUELLEJANS, 33, collapsed in his rocking chair while teaching his Grade 2 class at North Meadows public school in Strathroy Tuesday.
The Glencoe native was in his fifth year of teaching, and was known in both communities as an upbeat, committed and inspiring teacher.
"He had a great spirit. He never gave up," MUELLEJANS's mother, Colene, said yesterday.
MUELLEJANS, who had an enlarged heart, was well-known in Glencoe after surviving a fatal form of cancer during his teenage years.
"He was 17 when he was diagnosed and the doctors didn't think he would make it," said his father, Peter.
"We almost lost him then."
Through complications with lymphoma, MUELLEJANS continued to inspire others, attending his prom in a wheelchair wearing a fedora to cover his bald head.
"He was quite a legend in this community because of his fight and his survival," said Jane BOWLEY, a physical education teacher at Glencoe District high school, which MUELLEJANS attended. "He had such a great sense of humour. One of the only ways I know how to describe him is 'carpe diem.' He's a hero. He lived his life to the fullest."
MUELLEJANS was devoted to his nine-year-old son. He shared custody of the boy with his wife, from whom he was separated.
He was a Terry Fox Run representative at Ekcoe Central public school.
MUELLEJANS attended Ekcoe Central public school as a child and later taught there.
He spoke about his battle with cancer at the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life in Glencoe and walked the Survivor's Walk for the last two years. Last year, he ran the entire 12 hours of the relay.
An athlete, MUELLEJANS also ran marathons, played basketball and volleyball and swam.
His death this week, doctors told his parents, was next to impossible to predict.
"They said that his heart was one-and-a-half times the size of a normal heart and it's amazing he was able to do all the things he did," Peter said.
MUELLEJANS's first teaching job, five years ago, was at Ekcoe Central.
Teachers and those he taught were in shock yesterday.
"The impact that he had on the staff and students, it's impossible to measure," said principal Sue BANDEEN. "He was the heart of the community. He was a Glencoe boy through and through."
MUELLEJANS's classrooms were "animated but disciplined," BANDEEN said. "He was a very positive teacher. You walked into his class and he was telling a joke or a story. He just lit up a room."
MUELLEJANS coached sports and volunteered at after-school activities. He became a role model for healthy life choices while on the healthy schools committee at Ekcoe Central, BANDEEN said.
This school year would have been MUELLEJANS's second at North Meadows in Strathroy.
Yesterday, the Thames Valley District school board's trauma team was at both elementary schools helping people cope. Some teachers took the day off to collect themselves.
Some schools will pause during tomorrow's Terry Fox run for a moment of silence.
Others will give special tributes to the passionate teacher later this month.
MUELLEJANS' funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 11 a.m. at Van Heck Funeral Home in Glencoe.

Our profound thanks and gratitude goes out to the community at large who gave us their tremendous support in the form of cards, flowers, food, donations and encouragement. Our thanks also go to the many visitors who not only shared in our loss and sorrow but also provided us with many stories and memories of their experiences with Mark. It was a much appreciated tribute to Mark. Our special thanks go out to the teachers at North Meadows School, Paramedics and the E.R. staff at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital for their dedicated efforts during Mark's time of need. Glenn Frederick WILLIAMS passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2005 in the South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Kincardine in his 75th year. Fred was born in Eugenia, June 23, 1930, twin son of Albert WILLIAMS and Marguerite Pedlar SMITH. Fred spent his younger life in Eugenia on the 8th Line of Osprey Township, where his father and mother farmed.
Fred married Donna OSBORNE in 1952 and lived in Niagara Falls, where their two sons Wayne and Barton were born. They lived in different places where Fred worked with Ontario Hydro for 40 years and five days. He retired October 1, 1986 and made his home in Tiverton, Ontario. Fred belonged to the Bruce Masonic Lodge #341.
He was predeceased by his twin brother, Jack, Lois and step-brother Murray. He was the beloved husband of Donna (née OSBORNE,) dear father of Wayne (Carol) and Barton (Nancy) all of Kincardine, loving grandfather of Lindsay and Kyle WILLIAMS, Alissa (Ross) BIGELOW and Luke WILLIAMS and cherished great-grandfather of Cale BIGELOW.
The funeral service was held at Dovey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine on Friday, June 30 with Wendy LAMPMAN officiating.
Flowerbearers were Lindsay and Joan WILLIAMS, Alissa BIGELOW, Lynda MUELLER and Brenda ACHESON. Pallbearers were Kyle, Luke, Arthur and Doug WILLIAMS, Doug and Stephen OSBORNE.
Honourary pallbearers were Dugald MacKENZIE, Gordon BROWN, John TAILOR/TAYLOR and Tom SCOTT.

Paul Chute, 69, of Aylmer, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 14, 2005 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Shirley, and his four children, Jeff and wife Margaret▼ of Whitehorse; Denise MUELLER and husband Rick of London; Shaun of London, and Susan BRUNELLE and husband Paul of Aylmer. He also leaves his grandchildren, Julie, Lance and Shaun BRACKENBURY, Sara, Alyssia and Ryan MUELLER and Scott, Trent and Joshua BRUNELLE. Paul is survived by his sister, Dorothy WILSON of Tillsonburg; Betty SCHERER of Tennessee; Barbara CLARKE of Burlington; Mary and Keith DANBROOK of Tillsonburg; Lois and George TAILOR/TAYLOR of Ottawa; Gloria and Paul GIBSON of Hamilton Diana ANDERSON and Bernie HOLDEN of Vienna and Irene BRACKENBURY and Bill VANDENEEKHOUT of Tillsonburg. Paul BRACKENBURY was a long-time educator in Elgin County. He began his career as a teacher at McGregor Public School in 1956, teaching at Straffordville, Port Burwell and Davenport for many years. During this time he also became a vice-principal. After his retirement in 1990 he spent his time playing baseball, poker and guitar, as well as gardening and woodworking. Paul was an active member of the Kinsmen and K-40 Clubs in Alymer. He had a keen interest in local history, and was active in the Bayham Historical Society. He enjoyed contributing articles to the Aylmer Express. He was a great wealth of Knowledge about the Port Burwell, Vienna, Lakeview and Aylmer areas. Most of his stories concerned his beloved Lakeview. His family and Friends are fortunate that Paul compiled detailed family history books for both the BRACKENBURY and Peters families, including many photographs and information that date back to the early 1800's. Suddenly on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at her residence at Providence Centre, Toronto, at the age of 84. Predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1978. Survived by her dear son Eric and his wife Sylvia of Ottawa. Also survived by her sister Martha and her husband Helmut MUELLER of Toronto, her brother Henry MISCHE and his wife Betty of New York, and also by her grandchildren Kathy and Christopher and their spouses. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. Sophie was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Parish, McCaul Street, and the Legion of Mary. A Private Family Service followed by cremation was held at the Turner and Porter Yorke Chapel, Toronto. A Memorial Mass and reception will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2005 at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 141 McCaul Street, Toronto. MUENCH, Wilhelm " Willi" (May 23, 1921-October 13, 2005)
Wilhelm "Willi" MUENCH, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, October 13th, 2005 in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Willi was one of three children who grew up in Germany after the first Great War and fought in the Second World War on the eastern front. He met his wife of 40 years, Paula, after the war and together they sought a better future in Canada, where four of his five children were born. He is survived by Paula, children Thomas, Barbara, Hans, Rolf, Gottfried and 8 grandchildren in both Canada and Germany. A highly intelligent, religious man, Willi provided a home in which his family flourished. He was a gifted athlete and musician who pursued all endeavours with a passion. He encouraged sports and educational pursuits for his children and proudly witnessed the success of his sons and daughter in scholastic and athletic endeavours. Relatives in Germany remember him as a happy go lucky person always willing to help family, Friends and strangers alike. Willi leaves a legacy of children who will remember him for many special moments. He will be missed and remembered. For memorial services, the funeral will be held in Toronto at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 21st at the Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Willowdale, following a private family memorial in Vancouver on Friday, October 14th. There will be no public service in Vancouver. The family thanks all for their support and kind comments and, in lieu of flowers, they suggest donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or similar organization.
