Retired Revenue Canada employee. Peacefully at the Toronto East General Hospital on Sunday August 7th 2005 at the age of 82. Loving wife of the late James DAVIDSON. Devoted mother of Shirley and husband Tom, James and wife Sheila and John and wife Stephanie. Loving grandmother of Tracey, Jimmy, Neil, Geoff and Heather. Caring great grandmother of Cheyenne, Tianah and Kim. Sister of Jack and Babs BANFIELD, Adelaide MILLS, Bobbie and Paul MARTIN and the late Maureen WRIGGLESWORTH. Friends may call at the Giffen-Mack "Danforth" Funeral Home and Cremation Centre 2570 Danforth Ave. (at Main St. subway) on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. A private family service will be held at a later date. SHIFF, Vernamay (née HUGHSON) (July 28, 1945-July 28, 2005)
Daughter of the late Alma Woodworth HUGHSON, devoted and loving wife to her late husband Nathan (Ned) SHIFF, appreciated and loved daughter-in-law of the late Morris and Rachel SHIFF. Dearly loved by her aunts Sadie DONOVAN and Doris WOODWORTH, cousins Frank DOWNIE, Jimmy DONOVAN, Debbie AMOS and Alden DONOVAN all of New Brunswick. Greatly missed by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Allan and Helaine SHIFF and Ron and Lucy ROY, and nephews Lorne SHIFF, Mathew ROY and Louis KAPLAN and nieces, Melissa SHIFF and Minette ROY. Verna will be fondly remembered by grand-nieces, Talia, Rachel and grand-nephew, Benjamin. A dear friend to Wendy HOBSON, Adrian CHARLES, Wayne KING, Angie NICHOLS and so many others far and wide. With thanks to Doctors AXLER and MEHARCHAND of the Toronto East General Hospital and Dr. J. SINGH, and the team from Mt. Sinai's Temmy Latner Palliative Care Unit and to all those who provided the kind and caring support for Verna in her last illness. Verna was a champion against injustice and gave support for change. Her favourite projects included Spectrum Mental Health Clinic, 658 Danforth Ave., Ste. 402, Toronto, M4J 5B9; Ve'ahavta, 365 Bloor St. East, Ste. 1705, Toronto, M4W 3L4. A Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2005 from 6: 30 p.m. to 7: 30 p.m. at Verna's home.

Dear father of Richard and his wife Mandy, and James and his fiancé Cheri DEWAN. Loved grandfather of Tucker. Loving son of Joyce and the late Lorne ARMITAGE (2000) and son-in-law of Dwight and Dorothy HENDERSON. Brother of Frances and her husband Leonard MEHARG and Barbara and her husband Don GLASSFORD. Predeceased by brother Richard (1958). Also survived by many other beloved family members. Friends will be received at the Logan Funeral Home, 371 Dundas St. (between Colborne and Waterloo St.), on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be conducted in the chapel on Wednesday February 9, 2005, at 2: 00 p.m. with The Reverend Canon Beverly WHEELER, of Saint John The Divine Anglican Church, Arva, officiating. Passed away peacefully on November 30, 2005 in his 78th year at Providence Healthcare, Toronto. Very dear and long time friend of Claire SHAW. Loving father of his sons Brian (Jo-Ann, deceased) and Jeffrey (Louise) and his daughter Elizabeth SHEPPARD (Paul.) Grandfather of Samuel, Chad, Liam and Ryan. Also remembered by Miriam (Bennett) QUICK. Brother to Joan GIROUX (George, deceased) of Pointe Claire, Quebec. Uncle to David GIROUX (Cory) and Carolyn MEHDI (Abol.) Predeceased by his sister Evelyn LYNE. Charles was born in Montreal, graduated from Montreal High and Sir George Williams (Concordia) University. He retired from Shell Canada, having worked in Montreal and Toronto. Charles will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him, especially those whose lives were enriched by his many volunteer activities, in Canada and overseas - church organizations, Diakonio, Distress Centre, World Vision, Opportunity International, Help the Aged, Evangelical Medical Eye Missions.

After a valiant battle with breast cancer, Joanne passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on December 31st, 2004. She was the dearly loved daughter of Geraldine and the late Jack MEHLENBACHER. She will be forever loved and adored by her children Scott, Ashley, Brett, Sara, and Maggie (her darling German Shepherd). She was the lovingly cherished sister of Jack MEHLENBACHER (Diane), Jerry MEHLENBACHER (Sue) and Jane MEHLENBACHER (David TOWNLEY.) Joanne will also be deeply missed by her extended family and close Friends to whom she was a great source of guidance and inspiration. We would like to thank Richard COOK for showering her with love and affection at such a needed time. Passed away peacefully at her home on September 20, 2005. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Sheena MURPHY (Geoff BOVETT) and Deirdre MURPHY (Ron MEHMEL.) Left to cherish her memory are her brother Lewis MacDONALD (Agnes,) sisters Jeri WINDSOR, Mairi CHALMERS (Bill) and her nieces and nephews. We would like to express our heart felt thanks to the MURPHY and MacDONALD families, and to all of Mum's Friends who have touched her life and have provided compassion and support to all of us, recently and over the years. Special thanks to the Scarborough Palliative Interdisciplinary Network team and all those involved in her care. Cremation has taken place and at Mum's request there will be no formal service. A gathering in celebration of her life will be held at the house on Sunday, September 25th, 2-7 p.m. Flowers are graciously declined.
