JOHNSTONE,
Anne
E.
Died peacefully at St. Michael's Hospital on September 4, 2005
after a long and courageous battle with cardiovascular disease.
Anne was the loving and devoted mother of Steven
JOHNSTONE and
the proud mother-in-law of his wife, Dana
(WOODS.)
She was the
beloved daughter of William and Anne
MARTIN of Bristol, England,
both pre-deceased and the older sister to Ian
MARTIN.
Anne always had a special affection for children and took great
pride in watching them grow to adulthood. She was a loving Aunt
to Ian's daughters, Kendra and Alison and was pleased to be in
touch with Kendra through her wedding preparations over the past
year. Anne will be dearly missed by all the Kane children to
whom she was an honourary mom and grand-mom.
Anne was a gracious and eloquent person who measured her worth
by her ability to do things for others. Over the years she was
involved in many volunteer and community activities. She was
especially proud of the time she spent as President of the Board
of Directors at 270 Timberbank Boulevard in Agincourt, where
she was a firm steward and a caring neighbour.
Despite the seriousness of her illness, Anne maintained a large
circle of Friends and spent many hours on the phone listening
to the events of people's lives and providing her inimitable
brand of practical advice. She will be dearly missed by those
Friends who have known and loved her for many years and she deeply
appreciated the kindness of her new Friends at Deer Park United
Church, who provided care and comfort through the past year.
Anne's family would like to provide special thanks to the many
skilled people at St. Michael's Hospital who were involved with
her care. They are indebted to Dr. Allan
LOSSING and his talented
team who provided Anne with eight additional years of life. They
also appreciate the dedicated care provided by the emergency
room and 14th floor step-up unit during the summer.
Anne's funeral will be held in the chapel at the Morley Bedford
Funeral Home, 159 Eglinton Avenue West (2 stop lights west of
Yonge St.) on Friday, September 9 at 3.00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Deer Park United
