Peacefully at home in Cornwall, Ontario on January 30, 2005. Born on April 14, 1909 in Toronto, Ontario, she was the daughter of James LOGAN and Jane CALDWELL. Dearly loved mother of Sondra BREWIN (Ken) of Lochinvar Rd. Dalkeith, Ontario and Carole LIBBEY (Wes) of Cornwall. Treasured Nana to grandchildren Ian BREWIN (Jennifer) of Beaconsfield, Quebec, Michael BREWIN (Susan) of Barrie, Ontario, Andrew LIBBEY (Karen) and James LIBBEY (Johanna) of Cornwall, and Heather LIBBEY of Toronto. Special G.G. Nana to Holly BREWIN, Lauren and Ethan BREWIN, Leon and Maya LIBBEY. Predeceased by her husband Capt. John Alexander THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON, C Pro C (1976) and by her brothers John (1904) and Edward (Ted) LOGAN (1962) and her sister Margaret SHAW (1990.) A private Memorial service will be held with Reverend Ruth DRAFFIN, Saint John's Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Toronto, Ontario. The family of the late Doris THOMPSON/THOMSON/TOMPSON/TOMSON will receive Friends at their home, 1714 Jane St. Cornwall, Ontario on Sunday, February 6th from 3-6 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Madeline DEMERS a resident of Wallaceburg passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance "Sydenham Campus", in Wallaceburg at the age of 73 years. She was born in Wallaceburg and was a daughter of the late Xavier and Adele (DAMPHOUSE) BECHARD. Beloved wife of the late Arsene DEMERS. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Kim and Gerry LIBBRECHT of Chatham, Stephen and Nicky DEMERS of Port Lambton and Paul DEMERS and his fiancee Tammy PILON of Tilbury and Sandy DEMERS of Wallaceburg. Dear grandmother of Jennifer, Michael, Daniel, Bobby, Taylor, Jessica, Chris, Jeffery and Leigh-Anne and three great grandchildren. Kind sister and sister-in-law of Dorene CARON of Wallaceburg, Eileen MASSEY of Sarnia and Jerry and Doug BROWN of Stayner. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a son David DEMERS and a sister Irene BOGAERT. At Madeline's request a private family service will be held at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home, 639 Elgin Street, Wallaceburg. Interment in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home. As a living memorial a tree will be planted in Nicholls Memorial Forest in memory of Madeline DEMERS.

SMITH, Joan Ryan (née RYAN) (July 23, 1932 - January 21, 2005)
Peacefully at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Oshawa following a short battle with cancer. Joan, an accomplished Ballerina at a young age, devoted her life to teaching ballet for a number of years in Lynbrook, New York before moving to Toronto in 1966, where she founded the Joan Ryan Smith School of Ballet teaching until her retirement in 2002, at the age of seventy. Also an avid miniaturist, Joan ran a small business from her home for 25 years, creating and marketing miniature pots, plants and flowers. "Ryan's Miniatures" stemmed from her love of gardening. Joan was a caring and kind-hearted woman who will be greatly missed by her children, Margaret (Maggie) LYNN, Stephen SMITH (wife Deborah KOSKI), Eugene SMITH (wife Sonja LIBERATI), her grand-children Jessica LYNN (fiancé Brad DARONCO), Gayle SMITH, Nicholas SMITH, Daesha LYNN and Teresa LYNN, her ex-husband and the father of her children Wilburt (Skip) SMITH, her brothers Noël RYAN (wife Doreen,) Michael RYAN (wife Jill,) Fergus RYAN (wife Claire,) Allan RYAN (wife Lynn) and her nieces and nephews. Joan and her family are grateful for the cherished, life-long Friendship of Roberta (Bert) SOLOMON whom she met studying ballet in New York City as a young girl. Joan shared lots of laughs and good times with Bert and her family - husband Mac, sons Steven (Brooklyn, New York) and Scott Solomon (Austin, Texas). Until we meet again, rest peacefully dear Joan, mother, grand-mother, sister and friend. She will be cherished by her dear children Filomena (Arnaldo PARMIGIANO,) Rinaldo (Alberina), Giovanni (Rosanna), Addolorato (Luisa), Rosa (Onorio OROFIAMMA,) Bagnina (Enzo VERGATE,) and Carmina (Tonino ZULLO.) Proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She will be held dear in the hearts of her sister, brother, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many Friends. Family will receive Friends at the Fratelli Vescio Funeral Homes Ltd.
