of the late Martha and Ernest
MARTIN.
Julius came from a modest
family of Jewish decent and endured great hardship during his
childhood in wartime. His experiences, brilliance and intelligence
led him to pursue a career in helping others. He put himself
through medical school while raising a family and graduated top
in his class, earning first class honours and receiving a medal
for top standing in Medicine and Surgery. Julius entered the
Internal Medicine program and completed his fellowship. Following
this, he directly entered into the Dermatology Residency program
where he excelled. He was well read and published a number of
journal articles. Dr.
MARTIN worked hard and set-up clinics all
over Nova Scotia where he commuted long hours through the rain,
sleet, hail, blizzards and snowstorms on a daily basis. He saw
patients at all hours and on all days, accommodating anyone who
needed his help. Loving to talk to people, he always had a smile
and a kind word to say. Dr.
MARTIN loved his work and the people
he worked with. He devoted himself to his patients and colleagues
by sharing his knowledge, kindness, caring, laughter and compassion.
Dr. MARTIN provided top quality health care to the people of
Nova Scotia for over 20 years. Julius loved and adored his family.
He enjoyed the outdoors and could often be seen walking his two
beautiful cocker spaniels. Julius was an accomplished pianist,
junior chess champion, and won many tennis tournaments in his
time. Dr. MARTIN was a kind, gentle spirit who touched many lives.
He was much loved by his family and will be greatly missed, never
forgotten, forever in our hearts, minds and souls. Arrangements
have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street,
Dartmouth, where Julius' family will receive Friends from 7-8: 30
p.m. Wednesday and from where the funeral service will be held

in 1935. She was a caring, wife and mother who spent a seemingly
tireless lifetime devoted to her extended Gray and Hickey families
and many others, through local associations and the Trinity Anglican
Church. She was an ardent United Empire Loyalist, proud of her
roots at "Ingleside" the Hickey Homestead, east of Morrisburg
and now part of the historical Upper Canada Village. The family
wishes, most sincerely, to thank the staff of Sandfield Place
in Cornwall for the 11 years of wonderful support and thoughtful
considerations extended to Margie and her family. Following cremation
there will be a memorial service in Cornwall followed by burial,
in the family plot, Mount Pleasant cemetery Toronto, the timing

Had three loves: her family; her profession and spending time
in the great outdoors.
She was the daughter of Jack
MacARTHUR and Marguarite

she and her sister Leanne MacArthur
KUHNERT enjoyed a childhood
rich with grandparents, great-aunts and great-uncles. She started
her own family shortly after marrying Ernie
REIMER, and had 3
children, Beth
GALLUP,
Andrew
REIMER and Jennifer
REIMER. She
and Ernie took us camping almost as soon as we were born, and
all of us still love to be outside, winter and summer.
Marlene was passionate about the value of nursing, and had a
major impact on the profession through her teaching and research.
Highlights of her academic career included convocating with her
daughters (Jennifer, Bachelor's; Beth, Master's; Marlene, PhD.)
and meeting Yasser Arafat while teaching in the Gaza Strip. She
served as member and President of many national and international
committees. She was a professor emeritus of the University of
Calgary, and had just started a new position as Dean of the Faculty
of Nursing at the University of Manitoba.
The funeral will be in Calgary on Monday, November 7 at 1: 30
p.m. at the Heritage Funeral Home, 1708 16 Ave. N.W. There will
also be a memorial service in Winnipeg on Wednesday, November
9 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel @ Saint John's College, 92 Dysart Road,
Fort Garry Campus, The University of Manitoba.
