KOLOMYJEC,
Helen (née
DEBRIE)
peacefully and surrounded by love at home in Ottawa on 16 February
2005. She lived for many years in Sudbury where she raised her
family and was very active in the Ukrainian community. Helen
was extremely proud of her Ukrainian heritage; an accomplished
singer, she was a regular soloist in the Dnipro choir, recorded
Ukrainian folk songs and performed many concerts in the area.
Her love of music and life was passed on to her children and
grandchildren, many of whom have been attracted to the world
of the arts. Helen was predeceased by the love of her life, Mike,
and is survived by siblings Annie
MacLEAN of Sudbury and Alec
DEBRIE of Bracebridge. Helen leaves daughters Doreen, Mareka,
and Joanne and husband Fred, and her son Dennis and wife Lyn,
grandchildren Ivan, Mareka, Larissa, Andreka, Michael, Jason,
Steven and Lesia, great-grandchildren Adrian, Dorien, Andrea,
Jacob and Semara, and many nieces and nephews. Helen was beloved
by them all, and she will be very deeply missed. The family is
indebted to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Ottawa-Carleton chapter
and the Community Nursing Registry of Ottawa for their wonderfully
supportive home care, coupled with the warmth and obvious affection
they held for her, which contributed immeasurably to Helen's
comfort and well-being during the past several months. Special
and heartfelt thanks to Deane Ronayne, Charlane

GOLETS,
Nestor
Passed away in Toronto on Friday, March 11, 2005, after a long
and valiant struggle against numerous infirmities. Born January
1, 1927, Nes was the youngest of six children raised on a farm
near Oakburn, Manitoba and later another farm near Solsgirth
overlooking Birdtail Valley. After the family's move to Ontario,
Nes attended Central Tech in Toronto and Galt Collegiate. An
adventurer at heart, at 18 he joined the Canadian Merchant Marine
as a radio operator and sailed the world for several years. Back
on land, he married Jessie
KOLTOK in 1950 and they raised two
children, Karen
(GOLETS,
PANCER) and Nestor Jeffrey (aka Chap.)
Nes worked for more than 20 years for Petrofina and PetroCanada
before retiring to enjoy frequent fishing expeditions with his
buddies and long walks with his dog. Remembered for his wry sense
of humour, "Dido" will be sadly missed by his wife and children,
daughter-in-law Susan and his adoring grandchildren Jordie and
Matthew PANCER, and Sophie and Devin
GOLETS, all of whom were
by his side on his last day. Also survived by his sister Ollie.
Cremation private. A memorial service celebrating Nestor's life
will begin with a light lunch on Sunday, March 20, 1-5 p.m.,
at York Cemetery Reception Centre, 160 Beecroft Road, North York,
Toronto. As he wished, Dad's remains will be scattered by the
old iron bridge over Birdtail Creek where he swam and played
as a child. In lieu of flowers, and in honour of his fondness
for the dialysis support team at Toronto Western Hospital, please
make donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or a charity
of your choice. You're welcome a million, Dad.
