STASSE, Hendrik " Hank"
Hendrik "Hank" Stasse age 79, of Dresden passed away Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Sydenham Campus. He was born in France son of the late Bastian and Tina (BOEREN) STASSE. He served in the Dutch Allied Services - First Infantry 8R.E. in the Netherland's East Indies. He immigrated to Canada in 1953 and settled in Dresden. He was a member of the Canadian Legion Br. 113, Dresden. Hank is survived by his wife Johanna (KREMERS) STASSE; one daughter Henrietta and Gary WEBSTER; fours sons: John and Betty STASSE, Maurice STASSE, Geoffrey STASSE and Richard and Carol STASSE all of Dresden; six grandchildren two great grandchildren; two sisters and one brother living in Holland. He is predeceased by one son Henry and three sisters. Friends were received at the Thomas L. Deburger Funeral Home, 620 Cross Street, Dresden on Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The Canadian Legion Br. 113, Dresden held a memorial service Sunday at 7 p.m. The funeral service was conducted from the chapel of the funeral home on Monday, February 14, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Fr. John BETKOWSKI officiating. Interment was in Dresden Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made by cheque to Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Legion Br. 113 Dresden. Pallbearers were Jim HEDDEN, Bob WEBSTER, George SEGAERT, Rick CLARK, Eddie FRANCOEUR and Mike RUMBLE. Flower bearers were Sarah STASSE and Beth Anne STASSE.

Predeceased by her son George BURDETT, and by her sisters Olive LATTA, Evelyn POWELL and Ina Mae HOTSON. Also loved by her grandchildren Tim, Greg Lu-Ann, Rob, Kim, Gary, Susan, Bonnie, Nelson and her 17 great-grandchildren. Survived by many nieces and nephews, special neighbour and friend Marlene GALLOWAY. Mr. Walter ANDERSON a resident of Wallaceburg for many years, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2005 at Sydenham Residence in Wallaceburg, at the age of 89 years. Walter was born in Whitewood, Saskatchewan and was a son of the late Adolph and Dagny (GREGERSON) ANDERSON. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, in Wallaceburg, and was a past Chairman of the Deacons Board of the church. Walter had worked for Hillerich and Bradsby making hockey sticks for the pro's. Walter loved golf, cross country skiing, bowling and participating in, as well as a fan of many sports. Predeceased by his first wife Margaret (HURLBUT) ANDERSON (1977) and second wife Marnie (KELLETT) ANDERSON (2002.) Dear father and father-in-law of Lynn and Larry KNAZOOK of Wallaceburg and Brian and Eileen ANDERSON of Chatham. Sadly missed by his granddaughters, Beth, Heather, Erin and Tarah-Lynn. Since his retirement he has been active in the Cataraqui Optimists Society, the Heritage Tattoo Society and the board of directors of the Fort Henry Guard Club of Canada. HYNES, Donovan James
October 8, 1909 (Wiarton) - April 13, 2005 (Port Hope). Lieutenant-Colonel Donovan James HYNES, B.A, B.Pedagogy (U of T) enjoyed an outstanding life as a teacher, a public school inspector and superintendent, a soldier, family man and friend.
Don attended elementary and secondary schools in Walkerton, Ontario. In 1930 he joined the staff of Toronto Public Schools and was commissioned as an officer in the Canadian Army Reserve. In 1936 he and his best friend Harold HEDLEY traveled extensively in Europe including attending the Berlin Olympic Games. He later reminisced that the coming conflict was visible during this visit. On active service in World War 2 he served in Canada, England and Western Europe. Following the war, while resuming his career in Education, he commanded Central Command Personnel Selection Unit-Reserve until his retirement with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
From 1948 he served as Public School Inspector in Glengarry County, then in Galt/Preston/Hespeler and finally in 1954 in Peterborough/Peterborough County as Superintendent Public Schools and Superintendent of Instruction until his retirement in 1973.
His many interests included music, woodworking and a wide range of athletic activities including tennis, badminton curling, sailing, swimming, and golf where he scored his hole in One at Peterborough Golf and Country Club's 4th hole at the age of 85.
Some of the Community organizations in which he served include Young Men's Christian Association, Children's Aid Society, St. Andrew's United Church, Rotary Club, Buckhorn Wilderness Centre, Kawartha Lakes Music Camp, charter member of Scott's Plains Kiwanis Club, Peterborough Public Library Board, Red Cross Youth and various Provincial and local education organizations.
Having met while both were teachers at John Wanless School in North Toronto, Don married Dorothy Ada ROBINSON in 1938. He was a devoted family man to son Paul and daughter Judith COPELAND and her husband Kenneth, grandchildren Laura JANS (Maple Creek, Saskatchewan,) Catherine COPELAND (Amsterdam,) Sarah Copeland MILES (Ottawa,) and Craig COPELAND (Toronto) along with great grandchildren Riley, Nolan, Benjamin and Elizabeth who all mourn his passing and will miss his affectionate guidance.
Predeceased by his wife Dorothy (1991) he is survived by his sister Ulah HUNTSTEIN in Burlington and his dear friend Wilma BARNARD of Peterborough.
Don's Family gives thanks to the Princess Gardens in Peterborough and Extendicare/Port Hope for their assistance in making his final years healthy and happy.
Don was a well known and respected member of the Peterborough community for 50 years. Friends are invited to a Memorial Service and Reception following at 2: 30 p.m. Wednesday April 20 at St. Andrew's United Church, 441 Rubidge Street in Peterborough.

He was committed to maintaining the high standards of the profession of dentistry through his involvement with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons, the licensing body for Ontario dentists, and every day in his 40 years as a practising dentist. He enthusiastically participated for many years as a member of Lindsay Town Council, Lindsay Board of Parks Management, Lindsay Police Services Board, and many other volunteer activities. Fondly remembered by his former colleagues, patients and staff. He was also known for his great meals and warm hospitality, and leaves many Friends who shared his passions for skiing, tennis, cottage life, and lively discussions. Special thanks to our supportive Friends and the caring healthcare providers in Toronto, Dr. Carol SWALLOW, Dr. Lois LANGLOIS and the staff on 14th Floor North, Mount Sinai Hospital, Dr. David HEDLEY and Dr. B.
