Victor was born in Damborice, Czech Republic, on January 5th,
1922. He passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at the St.
Catharines General Hospital at 83 years of age. Beloved husband
of Alexandra, for 44 years. Loving father of Jana (Tim)
ZACHAREWSKI
and Victor
FIC. Cherished grandpa of Lara and Nicholas. Victor
will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family,
Friends and colleagues.
Before joining Brock University in 1971, he taught for 2 years
at the University of Yangun Myanmar, 8 years at Nanyang University,
Singapore and the University of Singapore. During his academic
career he published 19 books, the last one in December 2004,
numerous articles and book reviews. He published in academic
journals, read papers at conferences and wrote commissioned reports.
In 1999 Victor was decorated by President Havel of the Czech
Republic for his academic work and his work in human rights.
Victor was also a member of numerous professional organizations,
including President of Canadian Association of Asian Studies
1974- 1976, a member of the board of the Indo-Canadian Shastri
Institute 1972-1988 and the Edward Benes Institute, Prague 1998.
Victor will be sorely missed and forever remembered by those
who love him.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Victor's
life will be held in St. Julia Church, 251 Glenridge Ave. St.
Catharines on Monday February 7th, 2005 at 11: 00 a.m. Family
will receive Friends from 10: 30 a.m. For further information

(Kay), and Herbert (Olive). Dorie loved her family and worked
hard as they moved frequently with John's military career. She
had many different jobs and past times. She and John enjoyed
many trips together. Dorie loved baking, especially her renowned
pies, butter tarts and date squares. She enjoyed gardening, reading
and playing cards with Friends. The family wishes to thank the
nursing, medical and palliative care staff of the 4th and 6th
floors of University Hospital for their excellent care during
the past six weeks. A memorial service will be held at Forest
Lawn Memorial Chapel, 1997 Dundas St. E. (between Airport and
Clarke Rd). on Saturday, November 19th at 2 p.m. Inurnment will
take place followed by a reception. Those wishing to make a donation
in memory of Dorie are asked to consider the Canadian Diabetes
Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. McFarlane and Roberts
Funeral Home, entrusted with arrangements 652-2020.

Chapter No. 308 Nilestown will be held at the funeral home on
