FAAS, John C.
A resident of Ridgetown, John C. FAAS died at Four Counties Health Centre, Newbury on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at the age of 75. Born in Zeeland, The Netherlands, son of the late Cornelius and Lavina (VAN DE LUSTER) FAAS. John founded Faas Construction in 1950 and was the last Mayor of the Town of Ridgetown. He also was a Deputy Reeve of the former Kent County, a Past President of the Ridgetown Rotary Club and the Ridgetown Chamber of Commerce. John was an Elder and Teacher at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church and an avid golfer.
Beloved husband of Joan Marie (BURR) FAAS and the late Simone (WILLEMKENS) FAAS (1999.) Dear father of Dan and Elaine FAAS of Ridgetown, Wayne and Shirley FAAS of R.R.#3 Chatham and Tim and Ceri FAAS of Michigan. Step-father of Angela and Robert. Grandfather of Amy, Jenni fer, Matthew, Dawn, Marsi, Denise, Brady, Ben, Cory, David, Ariel and Eric. Greatgrandfather of Benton, Madison and Isabella. Brother of Maria BUIS of British Columbia and the late Willie VAN SONNEVELD. Family will received Friends at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown on Saturday from 2: 00-4:30 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 2: 00-4:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral Service from the Funeral Home at 1: 30 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2005 with Reverend Tom GODFREY officiating. Peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at Woodhaven Nursing Home, in her 87th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Laval CARON. Survived by her only daughter Marilynne and husband Gerry DWYER. Proud grandmother of Joy (Derek PETERS) and Sherry-Lyn (George FAAS.) Much loved great-grandmother of Emily and Danielle PETERS. Survived by sisters Terry CLEGG, Rita (Fred PARISELLI), Jeanne (Bruce WALKER) and brother Patrick SCICLUNA (Patricia.) Resting at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Ave., Markham (three lights north of Hwy. 7), 905-305-8508. Visitation on Sunday, January 9th, from 5-9 p.m. Funeral Mass on Monday, January 10th at 11: 00 a.m., at St. Justin Martyr Parish, 3898 Hwy. 7 East. Complete.
