EISAN,
Marion
In loving memory of a dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother,
Marion, who left us May 16, 1997.
So long ago since you've been gone,
You linger in our minds
Like a beautiful love song.
I know you're looking down,
I feel your spirit all around,
Watching the family grow
As we hang your picture on our walls,
So all the children know that you
Are forever remembered for how
You loved us so.
"Written by Amanda

Happy Birthday on May 29th.
Forever loved, your family.

HEPPNER,
Bill -- Dispatch
By Hailey EISEN,
Saturday,▼
January▼ 22, 2005 - Page M6
In his 75 years of life, Bill
HEPPNER went from riding a horse
and buggy in a small Mennonite village to driving stunt cars
in Sudbury to flying around the globe.
"He was a make-it-happen kind of man," says Frances
HEPPNER,
his widow. "He liked to take chances."
As a 22-year-old working as a carpenter and a miner in Sudbury,
he found excitement driving stunt cars. "He would do end-over-ends
and high ramp jumps," his wife explains, describing how newspaper
clippings from those days refer to him as "Wild Bill."
The sense of adventure that compelled him to perform stunts accompanied
Mr. HEPPNER his whole life. He flew planes, sailed and travelled
to every continent except Antarctica before his death.
His job as a human-resources manager with Dow Chemical in Brampton,
Ontario, took him to Fort Saskatchewan, Rotterdam, Saudi Arabia,
Sarnia and Toronto.
He met Mrs.
HEPPNER, who was his second wife, on an airplane.
Once when they were dating, Mrs.
HEPPNER says, "Bill was in Rotterdam
and flew to London to do some interviewing, then took the Concorde
to New York and flew into Sarnia to take me out on a date" --
all in one day.
Mr. HEPPNER had been working for a few years for Dow Chemical
before they met, and the couple lived in Mississauga for the
first few years of their marriage.
"We spent our honeymoon in Paris and London, and [on other occasions]
we visited Asia, China, Singapore... New Zealand and Australia."
Mr. HEPPNER died of cancer on December 14. Although he was very
ill in the last few months, his wife says he always maintained
his sense of humour.
"If you ever had to be on a desert island with someone," she
says, "he would be the perfect person."

Killers hurt in struggle, police say
By Hailey EISEN,
Tuesday,
January▲ 25, 2005 - Page A9
Police are looking for two injured assailants in connection with
a double homicide.
On Friday at about 9: 15 p.m., Justin
HODGE, 20 and Damian
MUIRHEAD,
22, of Toronto were shot inside Mr.
HODGE's third-floor apartment
at 180 Niagara St.
Two men, wearing bandana masks, had struggled with the victims
just inside the apartment door, Detective Sergeant Ken
TAILOR/TAYLOR
of the homicide squad said yesterday.
When it seemed like Mr.
HODGE and Mr.
MUIRHEAD were winning the
struggle, the masked men shot them, police said.
An autopsy conducted Sunday concluded the two victims were in
a fight, and police said that one of the dead had a broken knuckle.
Police recovered two bandanas in the rear laneway of the apartment
and are working to link these to the attackers. A watch, which
police said may belong to one of the men being sought, was also
recovered.
Police say there was no sign that the attackers forced their
way in.
They say that Mr.
MUIRHEAD had stopped by Mr.
HODGE's apartment
to pick up a cellphone and happened to be in the room when the
assailants arrived. He tried to help his friend when things started
to go wrong, police said.
One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. The other
died at St. Michael's Hospital as a result of gunshot wounds.
Three witnesses, all Friends of Mr.
HODGE, were on the balcony
when the assailants arrived, police said. Two have come forward
on their own and police are appealing to the third witness to
do the same.
Det. Sgt. TAILOR/TAYLOR said that Mr.
HODGE was known to be a drug dealer.
"I believe the suspects were trying to rob him of his drugs and
money," he said. Police found marijuana and ecstasy inside the
apartment.

Sarah HINDS -- Dispatch:
By Hailey EISEN,
Saturday,▲
February 5, 2005 - Page M6
Her given name was Sarah
HINDS, her colleagues at Imperial Oil
called her Sadie, and her extended family referred to her as
Aunt Sally, but to all who knew her, the lifelong resident of
Toronto is remembered as a huge fan of her hometown.
"She would not accept any criticism of her city," says nephew
Ron HAY of Ottawa. He recalls how his aunt would act as an unofficial
tour guide, sharing the city's culture, history and sporting
events with family and Friends.
She wanted everyone who visited to have a chance to ride the
subway, he recalls. "She made sure that visitors had proper directions
and usually had a supply of tokens ready just to make sure that
their experience was a positive one."
He fondly remembers trips with his aunt to St. Lawrence Market,
Honest Ed's, the C.N. Tower, the SkyDome and many museums.
"She knew what her guests would want to see and what each person
liked," he says. "She also decided what sites people should see
to broaden their minds."
She played tennis in her younger days and in later years she
was an avid television spectator of tennis, hockey and golf,
with a bit of time left over for Canadian football, especially
if the Argos were playing, Mr.
HAYs says. "She cheered for all
of the Toronto teams, and was always thrilled by Canadians' success,
especially if the individual called Toronto home."
While Mrs.
HINDS was well travelled -- Egypt, Jerusalem and Hawaii
were among her many destinations -- she always returned to her
apartment on Lawton Boulevard near Yonge and St. Clair in the
city she loved most.
She lived there independently until a few weeks before Christmas,
when she was admitted to hospital, and died on January 7 after
refusing treatment. "My aunt felt that she had led a good life,"
Mr. HAY says.
She was in her 90s, but insisted that her actual age not be revealed,
he says. "She hoped to remain as young as everyone wanted to
remember her."
