Passed away quietly in his sleep at Community Nursing Home, Pickering, on August 7, 2005 in his 87th year. Beloved husband of the late Doris for over 60 years. Cherished father of Peter and his wife Sandy, and Jo-Ann and her husband Mike DUDAR. Proud grandfather of Karrie, Kelly, Kathy; Jennifer and her husband Peter WILSON, Lesley DUDAR and her fiance Derek EDWARDS; and great-granddaughter Charlotte WILSON. Dear brother of Willard and his wife Eloise, Marg and her husband Norm, Betty and her husband Gene, Dorothy and her late husband George and brother-in-law of Violet and her husband Cec KING. Born in Zaliszczykij, Ukraine on March 9, 1927, passed away after a lengthy illness at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre on April 11, 2005. Forever loved and missed by her children, Andrew, Martha, Anna, son-in-law Mike, grandchild Lisa, brother Jura and family, sister-in-law Marie-Therese and family. Her devotion to and support of her family, her wisdom and gentle guidance, her love of beauty in art, literature and music will always be remembered. The family would like to thank the staff at both the St. Demetrius Residence and at the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre for their excellent care and support as Maria's health declined. After cremation, a memorial service was held in the U.C.C.C. Chapel on April 15. Special thanks to Rt. Reverend John TATARYN and Reverend Andrij FIGOL for officiating. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre, 60 Richview Rd., Etobicoke, Ontario M9A 5E4.

Jason was a courageous fighter who had an impact on everyone who knew him, and was taken far too soon. Jan GRIFFIOEN passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Meadow Park Nursing Home on June 27, 2005 at 89 years of age. Jan was born in Driebergen, the Netherlands and was the son of the late Johannes and Gerritje (VANDEN BROEK) GRIFFIOEN. Beloved husband of the late Jannetje (HAVENAAR) (2000.) Dear father of John and Rika of Chatham, Wilma and Jim VANDERLEEUW of Waterloo, Margaret and Jim BOOTSMA of Mississauga, Gerda and Lloyd DUDMAN of London, Dick and Lucy GRIFFIOEN of Chatham, Henry and Tonda GRIFFIOEN of Port Lambton. Dear grandfather of 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Brother of Frans, Gerard, Rijk, Trudy and the late Henny and Johan, all of the Netherlands. Friends called at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street (at Elgin) in Wallaceburg from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. The funeral service was conducted by Pastor Richard VANDER VAART on Thursday, June 30, 2005 at the Christian Reformed Church (on Bruinsma) at 2 p.m. Jan's grandchildren were pallbearers. The interment followed at Riverview Cemetery.
