PORTER, Kenneth Albert
Kenneth Albert PORTER of Saint Thomas, beloved husband of Dorothy (DAWDY) PORTER, passed away at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Friday, January 21, 2005, in his 83rd year. Dearly loved father of Carolyn JOVANOVICH and her husband Jerry of Fingal. Cherished grandfather of Susanne GALLANT and her husband Paul of West Lorne, John JOVANOVICH and his wife Lori of Woodstock and Deborah WALKER and her husband Jeff of Bath. He was the proud great-grandfather of Rick, Jordan, Samantha, Ashley, Mikaela, Jacob, Ryan and Justin. Dear brother of Bernice BURK/BURKE of Port Stanley and Helen DOAN and Joyce MOODIE, both of Saint Thomas. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Born in Yarmouth Township, September 13, 1922, the son of the late Albert and Jessie (SMUCK) PORTER. He was a former employee of Allen's Dry Cleaner's, Saint Thomas. Mr. PORTER was one of Jehovah's witnesses. At Mr. PORTER's request, there will be no public visitation. A public memorial service will be held at The Kingdom Hall, R.R.#7, Saint Thomas (Gore Road and Highway #3) on Saturday, January 29, 2005 at 2: 00 p.m. Private interment has taken place in Elmdale Memorial Park, Saint Thomas. Memorial donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association gratefully acknowledged. The Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, Saint Thomas entrusted with arrangements.

McMASTER, Gordon C.
Gordon C. a resident of Bothwell, passed away peacefully at Four Counties Health Services, Newbury on Friday, February 11, 2005 at the age of 84. Born in Saint Thomas, son of the late William and Isabel McMASTER. Beloved husband of Shirley (DOAN) McMASTER. Predeceased by a special friend Kaye EDWARDS and her son Jerry. Lovingly remembered by step-children Patricia FEDAK (Boris) of Scarborough, Cecilia EDWARDS of Essex, Marlain WOLFE (Larry) of Bothwell, Sandy AUBERTIN of Bothwell, Kathy BOERSEMA and Bob PAXTON of Chatham, Larry SAYLOR (Tammy) of Bothwell, Shirley REIMSMA of Milton, Lori MANDERS (Marc) of Bothwell, Donna BATEMAN of Chatham; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a sister Georgina, and brothers John, Sam, Walter, and Herbert. The McMASTER family will receive Friends at the Badder and Robinson Funeral Home and Reception Centre, 211 Elm Street, Bothwell on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Sunday, February 13, 2005 at 1: 00 p.m. with Reverend Steve FILYER of the Bothwell Baptist Church officiating. Interment Bothwell Cemetery. Donations may be made at the funeral home by cheque to Four Counties Health Services Foundation, the Bothwell Baptist Church, or the charity of ones choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Gordon McMASTER in the Badder and Robinson Memorial Forest, Mosa Twp.

Linda Maye of Saint Thomas, on Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at her late residence, in her 56th year. Dearly loved wife of Martin SPORE and loved mother of Shari PATERSON of Saint Thomas, Angie and her husband Rob BADGLEY of Saint Thomas, Joe PYATT and his wife Christie of Saint Thomas. Dear step-mother of Tammy and her husband Mike TALES of Aylmer and Julie and her husband Rob HUNT of Springfield. Dear sister of Shirley HUNTER of Saint Thomas, Laurene HARDY of Tillsonburg, Bernice and her husband Lew DOAN of Saint Thomas, Jim and his wife Meggan RICE of London, John and his wife Donna RICE of Saint Thomas, Larry and his wife Terri RICE of Brussells, Sue and her husband Gerry DENOMY of London and Rob RICE of Saint Thomas and loved daughter of the late Henry RICE and Marion BARNES. Sadly missed by seven grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Saturday at 4: 00 p.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. At Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital, on Thursday June 9th, 2005, Hugh Campbell BRODIE of Mt. Brydges, formerly of Delaware, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of Laurene (née NICHOLLS) and dear father of Ted and Diane BRODIE of Strathroy, Gary and JoAnne BRODIE of Delaware and Wayne BRODIE of London. Sadly missed by his 7 grandchildren Michael, Susan, Andrea, Heather, Evan, Sarah and Robbie. Also loved by his 4 greatgrandchildren Lauren, Steven, Spencer and Andrew. Dear brother of the late Mildred DOAN (1997) and the late Tom DOAN (1989,) Jean and Elmer DUFTON of London, the late Gordon BRODIE (2004) and Elizabeth (Bessie) BRODIE of Lambeth and Eva and the late Owen MARLATT (2003) of London. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Hugh farmed in the Delaware area for many years and started Brodie's Delaware Raceway (1952). Friends may call at the Elliott-Madill Funeral Home (Mt. Brydges) on Sunday, June 12th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Delaware Valley Masonic Service will be held at 6: 30 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service to follow from the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Don KEENLISIDE officiating. Interment Cooks Cemetery, Mt. Brydges. THORNTON) and cherished grandmother of Katie. Predeceased by sisters Vivien Linkert and Fern Marshall. Survived by sisters Mona DOAN, Shirley STEWARD/STEWART/STUART and brother Donald WILLIS. Four rebel prisoners, 1838 -- Died This Day

After the Battle of Windsor, in which a rebel force supported by American sympathizers crossed the Detroit River and laid siege to Windsor, a number of prisoners were taken. Four men who were captured still armed with guns were ordered shot by John PRINCE, a Colonel of the Essex militia who was also a lawyer and local landowner. Others, including Joshua DOAN of Sparta (a village near London), were later hanged.
