Our Lord took home our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother suddenly on Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton, in her 75th year. Beloved wife of John. Loving mother of Josie and her husband Al ARMSTRONG, Jeannette and her husband Mohan ASSI, Henriette and her husband Nick ITTERMAN and Gerry and his wife Joanne KLEINE DETERS. Also missed by 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Family and Friends will be received at Ward Funeral Home "Brampton Chapel," 52 Main Street South (Hwy. 10), Brampton, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Holland Christian Home Chapel, 7900 McLaughlin Rd. S., Brampton, on Wednesday March 2, 2005 at 10 a.m. Interment Brampton Memorial Gardens.

Passed away peacefully at London Health Sciences Centre on January 11th, 2005, Jacob Theodore DETZLER of Strathroy in his 57th year. Beloved husband of Linda DETZLER and dear father of Catherine HUNTER and Carolyn DETZLER. Loving grandfather of Alexander HUNTER. Brother of Michael and Maureen DETZLER, Joseph and Audrey DETLZER, Cecilia and Walter BECKER and Ileen GIBSON and her late husband George. Brother-in-law of Sharon and Don LEPPINGTON and Janice and Murray McGILL and families. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Clara DETZLER and his sister Mary FEAVER. Jacob owned Caradoc Home Hardware in Mt. Brydges. Visitation at the Denning Bros. Funeral Home, 32 Metcalfe Street West, Strathroy (519-245-1023) on Thursday, January 13th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 14th at 1: 30 p.m. with Pastor Doug WATSON officiating. Interment at Strathroy Cemetery. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Strathroy Bethel Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Jacob.

Composer born in Drummondsville, Ontario (now Niagara Falls) on October 11, 1882.
After having first played the piano at three, he was encouraged by his family to take up a career in music. When he was 11, his family to Niagara Falls, New York where he played piano at his local church. In 1901, he attended a music conservatory in Lockport, New York Later, after studying in Paris, he took the first of a series of teaching jobs until ending up at Bennett College, Greensboro, North Carolina in 1937. President of the U.S. National Association of Negro Musicians, he promoted the cause of black composers and himself wrote such works as The Chariot Jubilee, The Magnolia Suite, and Tropic Winter Suite.

Peacefully, on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Scarborough Centenary Hospital at the age of 79. Father of Karen DETTBARN. Uncle of Horst MERKLINGHAUS of Germany. Predeceased by his beloved mother Charlotte MERKLINGHAUS. Frederick will be sadly missed by all of his Friends and neighbours. Friends will be received at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1057 Brock Road, Pickering (south of 401), 905-686-5589, from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2005. HORST, Reverend Osiah W.
Died peacefully at home with family around him on July 4, 2005, at the age of 85. He will be remembered with love and gratitude by his wife, Fern (née DETTWILER,) daughter, Martha DROUILLARD (Dave), sons, Glen (Patricia) and Roger (Carolyn), and daughter-in-law, Marjorie HORST (Elwood,) twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, and thirty-two additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren that he embraced in his affections and prayers. He is also mourned by his sister, Lydia Ann BAUMAN/BOWMAN (Howard,) brother, Simeon (Jean,) sisters-in-law, Leeta HORST (Melvin) and Gladys OLLEY (Victor,) and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Annie HORST; sisters, Lovina WRAASE and Annie BAUMAN/BOWMAN brothers, Samuel, Moses, George, Elias, Daniel, Nathaniel, and Aaron; and son, Wayne. Osiah was born in Florida and grew up north of Elmira, Ontario. After Alternative Service assignments, he married Fern in 1945. In 1946 he was ordained at the Mannheim Mennonite Church and began 18 years of ministry there. In 1964 he began a twenty-year Ministry at Danforth Mennonite Church. From 1970-79 he was employed part-time at Dellcrest Children's Centre and in 1977 completed a Social Service course through Seneca College. A highlight of his ministry at Danforth was the development of the St. Clair O'Connor Community and his chaplaincy there from 1984-94 completed a life-time of pastoral service The family wishes to thank the many people who have supported Osiah and Fern in his time of illness, particularly those from the Danforth Mennonite Church and Masarypark Homes. Friends will be received at the Giffen-Mack "Danforth" Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 2570 Danforth Avenue, (at Main St. Subway), Toronto on Wednesday, July 6 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Service at the Danforth Mennonite Church, 2174 Danforth Avenue, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 7. Interment and graveside service at Mannheim Mennonite Cemetery at 3 p.m. Memonal gifts may be made to Danforth Mennonite Church, St. Clair O'Connor Inc., or Conrad Grebel University College's Graduate Student Support Fund.

Of Walkerton, passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Walkerton, on Tuesday, March 15th, 2005, in his 64th year. Survived by his brothers, Gerald and Joan, of Walkerton and Leonard and Sandra, of Brant Township; sisters, Rita and Wilfred DETZLER, of Formosa, Eileen DETZLER, of Kitchener, Geraldine and Clarence GRUBB, of St. Clements and Cleta WILHELM, of Walkerton; sister-in-law, Dorothy WILHELM, of Walkerton and many nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Rosina (SCHNURR) WILHELM sister, Helen FEDY; brother, Harold; brothers-in-law, Harvey FEDY and Francis DETZLER. Visitation at Cameron Funeral Home, Walkerton, on Thursday, 7: 00 to 9:00 p.m. and Friday, 2:00 to 4: 00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., with parish prayers at 8:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 19th, 2005 at 1: 00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Walkerton.
