Cecil BROWN died peacefully, at home surrounded by loving family
and Friends, on July 5th, 2005 in his 100th year. Known affectionately
as "Brownie", he was born in Colpoys Bay, on August 3rd, 1905.
son of James and Annie (née
CEASER)
BROWN, he attended school
in Lion's head and at the age of 13, he worked in the lumber
camp at Half-Way Rock. He also worked on a tugboat out of Lion's
head before moving to Windsor and then to Detroit, to become
an auto painter. He was a Life member of the Mason and member
of the U.S. Army during World War 2. After the war, he married
Edith (née
GRAHAM,) who became his loving partner for fifty-seven
years. In 1967, they had a cottage built at Emmett Lake and divided
their time between Ontario, Michigan and Florida. Brownie is
survived by his wife, Edith, of Tobermory and sons, Cecil, of
California; Don, of Michigan; Harold, of Tobermory and many neices,
nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased
by brothers, Marshall, Clifford, Jack and one sister, Lily. On
August 6th, at 4: 00 p.m., we will commemorate his life with a
Memorial celebration, at his home in Tobermory.
