Entered into rest at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Saturday, July 23, 2005. Gertrude PROUT of Owen Sound in her 101st year. Beloved wife of the late Charles R. PROUT (1958) and mother of the late Valerie Prout DITTMAR (2001.) Also predeceased by a grand_son John Stephen PROUT (1968.) Cherished mother of Ronald S. PROUT and loving mother-in-law of Mary PROUT of Owen Sound. Mother-in-law of Joseph DITTMAR of Ottawa. Grandmother of Jennifer DITTMAR and her husband Jim McLACHLAN and great grandmother of Christine DITTMAR- McLACHLAN of Orleans (Ottawa.) Grandmother of Marjorie DITTMAR and her husband Lucas DEMYSH of Milton. Also survived by niece Ruth BLACK and family of Kingston and nephews Jack MUNNS and family of California, David MUNNS and family of Arizona and Chuck MUNNS and family of Florida. Gertrude was a successful businesswoman, operating with her husband, Prout Motors at the northeast corner of the 9th Street East Bridge from 1938 until 1953 when Charlie PROUT's ill health necessitated a family move to Florida. After Charlie's death, Gertrude returned to Owen Sound to resume her teaching career. She taught at the one-room school in Jackson and then moved to the newly built Derby Central School in Kilsyth until retirement in 1969. Gertrude was a great reader, an avid bridge player and a keen political observer. Friends are invited to the Tannahill Funeral Home 376-3710 for visiting on Saturday, August 6th, 2005 from 1 p.m. until service time, where the funeral service will be conducted in the chapel at 2 o'clock with Dr. Brad CLARK officiating. Cremation with burial beside her husband and grand_son in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to the G.B.R.H.C. Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. She will be sadly missed by two grandchildren, Jason WINTER of St. Joseph, Michigan and Anita and husband Jeff DE LEEUW of Cambridge, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, James Keith ARMSTRONG (Nov. 4, 1988.) Beloved mother of Neil (Jean) ARMSTRONG of Corunna. Loved grandmother and great grandmother of Bonnie, her daughters, Lauren and Tara of Markham; Bill, his wife Susan and their family, Daniel, Ben and Emily of Kinburn (Ottawa). Helen was born on May 11, 1913 in Brooke Twp. to her parents, Angus and Kate (LAMONT) McLACHLAN. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond (Isabelle) McLACHLAN, Wardsville, Robert (Ruth) McLACHLAN, Watford; also sisters-in-law, Lois STRONG, Kelowna, British Columbia; Marie (Harold) PATTERSON, Corunna Noreen ARMSRONG, Belmont; Donna ARMSTRONG, Corunna; and Dorothy ARMSTRONG, Alvinston. Helen will also be remembered by many of the students that she taught in various one room schools, Oakdale, S.S.#6 Brooke, Culloden, Little Ireland, Caradoc, Euphemia and in Alvinston Public School. She had a great love for the history and people of the Alvinston area. She was a long time member and former treasurer of Guthrie Presbyterian Church; the Womens Missionary Society and Ladies Aid Group. Age 83, formerly of Charles Street, Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. Born in Wellington County, January 8, 1922, son of the late Naldo STICKNEY and the former Joy (GUENTHER) STICKNEY. Grant was employed by the P.U.C. for 36 years most of them as treasurer, retiring in 1986. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Stratford for more than 40 years and an honorary member of the Senior Kiwanis Club. Beloved husband of the late Marie (MacLACHLAN) who predeceased him September 25, 1993. Dearly loved father of Diane and her husband Gus CHISHOLM, Exeter. Devoted grandfather of Rebecca and her husband Colin FEASBY, Calgary, Julie and her husband Owen WALSH, Toronto. Great Papa of Claire and Katie FEASBY. After a valiant struggle with a rare disease, Donna is now at peace. Her positive spirit enhanced many lives around the world from Taupo, New Zealand to Montreal to Abu Dhabi in the Middle East. She will be remembered with love by husband Rick with whom she enjoyed 33 wonderful years, daughter Kim and son Scott who both inherited her caring attitude, twin sister Marg and brothers Gary, Doug and particularly, Charlie. Predeceased by Emma and Ed McKENZIE and father-in-law Scotty she is also survived by in-laws Jean, Dan and Shelley, nephew James and cousins Rod, Barrie and Ross McDONAGH. Donna will always be "Magic" to her many Friends and colleagues in the Weekenders fashion business which was her passion for 20 years. LEISHMAN, Gertrude Eileen " Trudy" (née LAKE)
Passed away peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital on January 28th, 2005. She recently celebrated her 90th birthday on November 3rd. She was born in Fortune, Newfoundland in 1914, she grew up in Saint John's where her father was the founder of H.B. Clyde Lake Fisheries Ltd. and the representative for Lloyd's of London and Minister of Fisheries. Trudy graduated in nursing from Montreal General Hospital in 1936 and went overseas with the #1 Canadian Army Medical Corps where she met Dr. John LEISHMAN, a urologist from Shoal Lake, Manitoba. They married in England on June 20th, 1942. Trudy was predeceased by her husband John; and brothers Spencer and Harold LAKE, and sister Beatrice ELLWOOD. Trudy is survived by her eldest sister Margaret, sister in law Robbie LAKE and brother in law Michael ELLWOOD. She is lovingly remembered by her children, David (Kathy,) Susan (Jim) COLQUHOUN and Trudy Ann (Ian) McLACHLAN, four grand children John and Harold LEISHMAN, Michael and Steffany COLQUHOUN, and four great grandchildren Savannah, Henry, Oscar and Rose. Trudy and John lived in Regina for 18 years before moving to West Vancouver. They loved entertaining at home, traveling and snowbirding to Phoenix. Trudy will be fondly remembered by all the people she touched, and by nieces and nephews who lived afar. A special thanks to the medical staff on the 4th floor of Lions Gate Hospital for all their kindness and caregivers at Hollyburn House where she resided for nearly ten years. The family announce the sudden passing of Bill WORDEN on June 5th, 2005, age 78. Bill is survived by his wife Yvonne of 53 years, daughter Carla, son Curtis (Valerie), their two children Niki and Jack, brother Richard (Kay and family), sister Joanne (Garth and family). Bill is also survived by Yvonne's family (McLACHLAN) and their families. Predeceased by his father William Frederick and mother Johanna (née STEWARD/STEWART/STUART.) Bill was a very knowledgeable person and had many talents including his love and restoration of antique cars. He grew up in Winnipeg attending Isaac Brock School, Ravencourt and Daniel McIntyre. He attended University of Manitoba obtaining his degree in Civil Engineering. Bill and Yvonne have resided in Toronto for many years. His latest and last venture was Polar Chemical Ltd. with co-partner Robert RUFFO. As requested, cremation has taken place with a private funeral.
