John, beloved and devoted husband of Joyce Evelyn (LEATHAM) for 57 years died peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2005, surrounded by the love and support of his cherished family; his loving twin daughters and their spouses Ruth (Gary) NORTON, and Janet (John) WOODBRIDGE, and his very special and much loved grandchildren Andrew (Sandra) and Lindsay (Ryan LONG) WOODBRIDGE and Evan NORTON. John was born in South Wales but grew up in Great Crosby, Liverpool, England. He served valiantly with the British Royal Navy from 1943-1946. Upon immigrating to Canada, he worked as a design draftsman before finding a fulfilling career in teaching. After graduating from the University of Toronto's Faculty of Education, he taught at Dunbarton and West Hill Collegiates. He was a technical director for many years, before retiring in 1986. John will be sadly missed by his loving family in England; especially Muriel LEATHERBARROW, Valerie and Alan PHILIPPS, Judith and Trevor JONES John and Maria EVANS; David and Claire EVANS, Chris and Georgina EVANS, Al and Lyn LEATHAM, Shirley and Bill GALLAGHER and their families, and by his many Canadian and American Friends. She is survived by her brother Bill WOODCOCK (Babs) and her sister Mary MacMILLAN. Joan graduated from the University of Toronto at the age of 19. During World War 2 she worked for the Secret Service in New York under William STEPHENSON. She was a hardworking volunteer for many organizations including the National Ballet, the Toronto General Hospital, Metropolitan Nursery School, and the Royal Ontario Museum and was an avid Garden Club member. Beloved by and devoted to her family and her many Friends, she was an active participant in life, with a mischievous sense of humour. Gracious and kind, she maintained her beautiful smile to the end. The family is extremely grateful to those who cared so well for her during her illness, especially to Carol LOMBARD, her devoted caregiver for 10 years. A private family service will be held. Mauled Doctor recalled as 'role model'

Brantford -- A doctor mauled to death by a black bear was remembered yesterday at a funeral service as a free spirit who was always willing to help others.
Jacqueline PERRY, 30, who was killed last week after she and her husband, Marc JORDAN, 30, were attacked at a remote campsite in Missinaibi Lake Provincial Park, about 80 kilometres north of Chapleau.
"I got four years (with her,) I wish I got 40," JORDAN told about 300 mourners packed into Central Baptist Church. "She was so easy to love."
JORDAN was injured when he tried to save his wife by slashing the bear with a Swiss Army knife, but he was well enough to attend yesterday's service.
Family, Friends and colleagues remembered PERRY, an emergency room physician at Brantford General Hospital and a Cambridge family doctor, as having a passion for life and the ability to inspire others.
PERRY's father, Ralph PERRY, recounted his daughter's love of books and sports, and her desire to live life to the fullest.
"Whatever Jacqueline took on in life... she never gave up on doing her very best," he said. "Sometimes we banter around the term 'role model.' Jacqueline really was one. Her warm and caring nature was like a magnet."
Rick WOODCOCK, Chief Executive Officer of the Brant Community Healthcare System, said PERRY "saved lives" and "brought hope to others."
The bear believed to have attacked PERRY and JORDAN has since been killed by Ministry of Natural Resources officials.

BOOSE, Catherine " Kay" (formerly BOLTON, née JOHNSON)
Of Caressant Care Nursing Home, Saint Thomas, on Sunday, October 23, 2005, at the Saint Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late John BOLTON and the late Percy E. BOOSE (1989) and dear step sister of Margaret and her husband Cecil BALL of Tillsonburg and Maxine and her husband Robert ANDERSON of Brockville. Predeceased by a sister Josephine MILLS and a brother Sam JOHNSON and by a step brother William ROBERTSON and a step sister Irene JOHNSON. Sadly missed by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. Kay was born in Saint Thomas March 28, 1914, the daughter of the late George and Hazel (WOODFORD) JOHNSON. She resided in Saint Thomas most of her life and was a member of the Saint Thomas Christian Church. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, Saint Thomas where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11: 00 a.m. Private interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

HYLAND, Margaret Noreen (née McMANUS)
Passed away on January 30, 2005 at the Lakeshore General Hospital, Pointe-Claire, Quebec, in her seventy-seventh year. Beloved wife of Bruce O'Neil HYLAND. Loving mother to her five sons, Ted, Bobby, Paul, Tony and Jamie, and her daughters-in-law, Mary CORKERY, Mary Noreen FARRELL, and Charlene ALECK. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Mary (DONAHUE) McMANUS, and grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia; she received a Bachelor of Arts degree, St. Francis Xavier University ('50) and a Bachelor of Library Science degree, McGill University ('52.) She leaves her sisters, Sheila HALIBURTON (Halifax,) Elizabeth McCARTY (Falmouth, Massachusetts.,) and Patricia WOODFORD (Baddeck, Nova Scotia,) and was pre-deceased by her brother, Jim McMANUS, and her sister, Eileen McMANUS. She was the absolutely delighted Nanny to her grandchildren Rory, Cara, Kathleen, Justine, Hillary, Ocean and Sara. Her nieces, nephews, relatives and dear Friends will miss her mischievous smile and her warm and generous heart. The family would like to thank Dr. Jane NAYAR for her years of dedicated care. Visitation at Collins Clarke, 222 Highway 20 (at Cartier Avenue, Exit 49), Pointe-Claire, on Wednesday, February 2nd, between 2 and 4 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place on Thursday, February 3rd, at 11: 00 a.m. at St. Edward the Confessor Parish, 98 Aurora, Pointe-Claire. At the North York General Hospital on Sunday, June 12, 2005. In her 97th year, Alma S. WOODFORD. Daughter of the late Horace WOODFORD and his late wife Harriet. Sister of Edith. Fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews.

Passed away peacefully, his loving wife Lucy by his side, on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at the age of 72. He will be missed by his children David (Valerie) and Lori (Kirk DELIS.)
