Peacefully, at London Health Sciences Centre, University Campus, on Thursday, January 6th, 2005, Mr. Thomas J. "Tom" BENFORD of London in his 90th year. Beloved husband of Jessie and the late Lena (1978.) Loving father of Allan J. BENFORD and his fiancée Sheila BURDGE, and Charlene MILLER and her husband Gus. Dear brother of Edward and his wife June and Irene SLATTER. Also survived by his grandchildren, Bradley and Vicky MILLER and by his sister-in-law Pauline BENFORD. Predeceased by his sisters Doris MADDEN, Hilda MacDONALD, Kae POOLE and by his brothers Walter and George. Sadly missed by Karen and Keith WILTON and by his extended family. Tom was a veteran of World War 2 D-Day Invasion and an avid fan of the London Knights. Gord was a gentleman of quality and great integrity. He was the founder and owner of Strathroy Glass Company for many years which flourished under his guidance. Gord was a Past President and life member of the Strathoca Shrine Club, Strathroy; involved with Meals on Wheels for 10 years, and a longstanding member of the United Church of Canada. He will be greatly missed by all. Graeme graduated from Presbyterian College, Montreal in 1962 and served the Presbyterian Church in Canada as minister of St. Stephens, Regina, Saskatchewan; Knox, Carberry, Manitoba and St. Andrew's, Brampton, Ontario. He also served the Church on a number of boards and committees both nationally, at the Synod level and in Presbytery. He will be remembered most for his sense of humour and his gift of storytelling with which he made the gospel of Jesus Christ both relevant and personal. Gord was a past-president and life member of the Strathocha Shrine Club, Strathroy, involved with Meals on Wheels for 10 years, and a longstanding member of the United Church of Canada. He will be greatly missed by all. Visitation was held on Thursday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North (2 blocks north of Oxford), where the funeral service was conducted on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 1: 30 p.m. with Rev. Graeme graduated from Presbyterian College, Montreal in 1962 and served the Presbyterian Church in Canada as minister of St. Stephens, Regina, Saskatchewan Knox, Carberry, Manitoba and St. Andrew's, Brampton, Ontario. He also served the Church on a number of boards and committees both nationally, at the Synod level and in Presbytery. He will be remembered most for his sense of humour and his gift of storytelling with which he made the gospel of Jesus Christ both relevant and personal.
