Stephen died peacefully, at home, on Saturday, February 19, 2005, after a short illness, in his 83rd year. He was the beloved husband and friend for 53 years of Joan, dear father of David (Margaret), Julia (Peter RAYBOULD), Richard (Melissa) and Diana (Chris SYMONDS). He was Dada to Emily WILCH and Grandad to Jamie and Audrey FOX- REVETT, Michael and Elizabeth RAYBOULD, Lindsay, Cameron and Jeremy FOX- REVETT and Amanda, William and Tom SYMONDS. At the time of his death Stephen was still practicing real estate and was actively involved with the Order of St. Lazarus, Ionic Lodge, the Royal Canadian Legion, Trinity College and Christ Church Deer Park. He was an Aide-de-Camp to six Lieutenant Governors of Ontario and considered this appointment to be a great honour. His love of Muskoka provided an abiding interest and led to his participation as a member of Muskoka Lakes Ratepayers Association. The family wishes to thank our very special friend Barbara SYMMONS who both cheered and consoled Stephen and Joan during his illness. The Palliative Care Team from the Temmy Latner Centre were truly caring and supportive and the family is most grateful. The family will receive Friends at the Humphrey Funeral Home - A.W. Miles Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, February 23rd. On Sunday, March 6, 2005, Edith peacefully passed away at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Loving wife of the late George Thomas MARTIN (1978) and mother of the late Paul Edmund MARTIN (1957.) Edith is survived by her sister Christina COLGAN of Etobicoke, and her brother-in-law Ben WILCOCK of Stouffville. Predeceased by her sisters Irene (Gordon) DYMOND, Vera COLGAN, Kathleen (John) CONNER, Loretta WILCOCK and her brother James (Jackie) COLGAN. Edith will be fondly remembered by many family members. For many years, Edith was a volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society, the Eventide Home, Saint Martin's Church (Anglican), and sat on an Advisory Board for the City of Niagara Falls. Beloved▼ mother of five children, Robert of Southampton, Bernice GOODHEAD of Barrie, June and her husband Jack FOTHERBY of Southampton, Mary and her husband Mac McLEISH of Washago and Penny MacDONALD of Southampton. Sadly missed and fondly remembered by eighteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. (Ella May WILCOX was a dedicated member of the Springford Baptist Church, Ladies' Mission Circle and she taught Sunday School for over 50 years). She was also a former volunteer with the Canadian Bible Society. Predeceased by her husband Lloyd E. WILCOX (1971.) Passed away peacefully, on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Toronto East General Hospital. Loving mother of Audrey KVEDARAS and her husband Paul SYME, Paul KVEDARAS, and Sandra WILCOX and her husband David. Adored grandmother of Jeffrey and Matthew WILCOX and Clara SYME. Alice was born November 26, 1927 in Suvalkija, Lithuania, as the daughter of the SPEDER family. She grew up in Lithuania and moved to Canada where she became a nurse in 1956 and married Vytautas KVEDARAS a short time after. Over the years she volunteered at the Kingsway Lambton United Church and many other charities. Alice spent over 30 years on Addison Beach on beautiful Georgian Bay. She loved to walk in parks and always saw the beauty of the natural surroundings. She always enjoyed the companionship of dogs. A Memorial Service will be held at Park Lawn Cemetery, Mausoleum Chapel at 2845 Bloor St. W., Etobicoke, on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 2 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Turner and Porter Butler Chapel (416) 231-2283. MURRAY, Donald Thomas
Passed away on May 2, 2005, just 3 weeks after his 98th birthday. Born in Ratho, Midlothian County, Scotland, emigrated to Canada in 1923, and spent his first Canadian winter driving a horse-drawn supply sleigh on a route in northern Saskatchewan. Worked for Massey-Harris in Saskatchewan for many years, eventually as a supervisor of dealer territories. Moved to Ste. Therese, Quebec in 1942 to take a position as maintenance supervisor of the giant war plant at Bouchard outside Montreal. After the war he became General Sales Manager of Penn Controls and moved to the head office in Toronto in 1954. Many of his Friends and acquaintances will remember him as the owner of a company that sold and serviced electric and gas golf carts for the last three decades of his life. Sports was a life long interest as player and coach - golf, soccer, hockey, basketball, track and field, and football. In the days of leather helmets he played in a Grey Cup game as halfback for the Regina (now Saskatchewan) Roughriders. In 1939 he married Erma Belle WILCOX of Gainsborough, Saskatchewan, who passed away in 1999. He is survived by his son Douglas Gary MURRAY and Gary's wife Shirley. Gary and Shirley wish to thank caregiver Gloria WHYNE and the nurses at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital who looked after him in his final days. We also deeply appreciate the kindness of all those who brightened his later life with visits and who helped him to remain in his home of 51 years until two weeks before his death, especially Len and Cindy VAN RYN, Joy PECK, and Debbie PERRIN. At a mid-summer date to be announced, his ashes will be interred beside those of his wife at Churchill Cemetery near Ballantrae and a memorial service will follow. Arrangements entrusted to R.S.
