Loving grandmother to Sean and Shannon McBURNEY, Laura and Christina GOOYERS, Chloe and Thomas ELGIE and Nakita, Lucy and Molly. Betty was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mabel HUMPHREY. Survived by her sisters Stella HUMPHREY and Shirley (Norman) HUNT and brothers Gordon (Donna) HUMPHREY and Bill HUMPHREY, as well as in-laws Catherine HUMPHREY and Jean and David (Wilma) ELGIE. Predeceased by brothers John, Ernest and Elliott (Betty Jane) HUMPHREY, and in-laws George and Drew (Joyce) ELGIE and Gladys HUMPHREY. She will be missed by many HUMPHREY and ELGIE nieces and nephews, and countless Friends and neighbours on McAlister Street in Fergus and in Arran and Nichol Townships. Betty was a graduate of the class of 1949 Nursing Program at St. Joseph's Hospital, Guelph, and enjoyed a long career nursing at Groves Memorial Community Hospital in Fergus, the Homewood Health Centre in Guelph, with the Victorian Order of Nurses and as a private duty nurse. Age 48, of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away suddenly, March 16, 2005 while in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. WHITEFORD, formerly of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, has been a resident of Flower Mound, Texas for the last nine years. John was formerly an executive with Nokia Mobile Phones of Dallas, Texas. He also held positions with various communication network services in the United States. At this present time, Mr. WHITEFORD was currently involved in new innovative communication devices and wireless systems for the future. Mr. WHITEFORD is survived by his loving wife Lorraine, their daughter Ashley and Lorraine's son Christopher. Mr. WHITEFORD is also survived by his father J. Bruce WHITEFORD of St. Catharines, his sisters, Susan of Niagara Falls, Linda SPRACKETT and brother-in-law Michael of Oshawa, and nephews and nieces, Jennifer, Ryan, Melissa and Hannah SPRACKETT. He was predeceased by his mother Doris M. WHITEFORD of St. Catharines. Thoughtful grandmother of Chris BEATTY, Jennifer BEATTY, Owain BARKER and Clare BARKER; she provided them a lovely cottage for their early years. Passed away peacefully at Versa Care in Lambeth of an age related illness. Born and raised in London, Ontario, Alan had the passion of his generation for the novetly of aviation. As a teenager he earned a dollar per day working along the railway lines and used it to pay for five dollar per hour flying lessons at the London Airfield. He had already logged solo flights when he volunteered with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939 and trained as a navigator. After the war, he joined Bell Canada and held many managerial positions during his 38 years of service.
Dearly missed by his beloved wife Helen Marjorie (McKIGGAN,) daughter Heather (John) TRUSSLER of Kitchener, son Alan John (Lucille) WHITEHEAD of Windsor and daughter Stephanie (Robert) INGALLS of Windsor. Grandfather of Bryan TRUSSLER of Kitchener, Scott (Corrie) INGALLS of Toronto, Sean INGALLS of British Columbia, Erin WHITEHEAD and Craig CHARNOCK of Toronto, and Meighen WHITEHEAD of Windsor. Number of killings not seen in century

Less than 24 hours after what may be the worst mass-slaying in the city's history, another Londoner has been killed, the carnage the region's worst in more than a century.
"I don't think there's been anything like this since the Donnellys, and that was in Lucan," said John LISOWSKI, a former police board member whose research of crime in London is being used for a book that chronicles the past 150 years for the city police force.
Halina CZUBA, her children Julia and Michal, and a gunman who was a family relative were found dead in the CZUBA home Monday.
Yesterday, Yorn MEY was found dead, slain in her Chippewa Drive home. Her husband has been charged with second-degree murder.
The bloody barrage appears unprecedented in the city, historian Dan BROCK said.
"Nothing else comes to mind at all. A family wiped out -- nothing of that magnitude."
The killings at the CZUBA home on Princess Avenue were also unusual in another sense, said Paul WHITEHEAD, a criminologist at the University of Western Ontario.
"The most typical situation is the husband kills his spouse and children and then himself," WHITEHEAD said.

Bill was predeceased by his first wife and the children's mother Dorothy (LEACH/LEECH/LEITCH) WARBURTON (1980,) second wife Dorothy (FOLLIOTT) WARBURTON (1995,) by parents William and Olive (WHITEHEAD) WARBURTON and by brothers-in-law Clayton REESOR and William OCKENDEN.
Bill was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces (1942-1973), and attained the rank of Warrant Officer. During his thirty years of service as a noncommissioned officer, Bill was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the 1939-1945 War Medal, and the Special Service Medal (serving with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization). Bill also served the community with his contributions as People's Warden and Rector's Warden of Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church, Exeter, for many years. He will be remembered for his sense of humour, stories of his many travels, and bear hugs and whisker rubs. Thank you Bill for showing the importance of pride in self, community and country. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 27th at Trivitt Memorial Anglican Church at 2 p.m. with Reverend Bill WARD officiating. Cremation to follow.
