It is with heartfelt sadness, yet with peace of heart, that we convey the news of the passing of Kenneth on Sunday, January 30, 2005 at Headwaters Health Care Centre, Shelburne. Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Lena (née MERKLEY) and his four devoted sons, their families and many Friends. Ken's sons John (Kathy), Grant (Deborah), Allan (Faye) and Scott (Keith). Ken's cherished grandchildren: Ken, Karen, Gregg, Sarah, Daniel, Jessica, Melissa, Aiden, Celine and Adam BENNINGTON. Great-grandfather to Owen BENNINGTON, Ty, Chayse and Zoe McCALLUM, Brittany, Quinton and Marcus BARNES, Morgan and Heidi BENNINGTON. Lillian E. MADILL died with grace July 13th 2005 in her 96th year in London, Ontario. Lillian was born January 25th, 1910 a daughter of the Manse in Highgate (Essex County) daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Herbert UREN. She graduated from Mitchell Public School in 1923, London Central C.I. 1928 and University of Western Ontario in 1931 where she excelled at tennis and basketball. A member of U.W.O. Athletic "W" Club, Lillian faithfully followed Western's varsity sports all of her life. Lillian taught highschool in Brantford and London prior to marring Dr. William S. JOHNSTON in 1938. After the birth of Penny and Richard, her husband served overseas with the R.C.A.M.C. in Bassingstoke, England for four years during World War 2.
Lillian was President of the London Y.M./Y.W.C.A. in 1960 and was very active at First St. Andrew's United Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of United Church Women for over 50 years. For Lillian, First St. Andrew's was her second home. Her favourite retreat was the shores of Lake Huron at Kincardine where her father was a Methodist Minister 1916-1919 and where she first went to school in 1915 at Kincardine Public School. She▼ is pre-deceased by her first husband, Dr. William S. JOHNSTON (1971) and second husband Frank MADILL (Wingham.▼) Also▼ predeceased by her beloved siblings Herbert Margaret, Helen and Evelyn. Born in Picton, Ontario, May 24, 1926. son of the late Ella Mae BONGARD and Wilfred Ernest SCOTT. Predeceased by his brother and friend Sherman. Engineer, banker, fisherman, clarinettist and book editor. Eric graduated as a Civil Engineer from the University of Toronto in 1949. During his career he worked for Canadian International Paper, Canadian Industries Limited, The Engineering Institute of Canada and 25 years with the Industrial Development Bank, later to be the Federal Business Development Bank. He cherished the many Friendships across Canada from those years. Also cherished by 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Francis GARDNER died in 1945.
