Passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2005 surrounded by her family, at Sunnybrook and Women's College Health Sciences Centre, at the age 83. Dear wife of Robert BROWNE, and the late George BARTLETT. Loving mother of Larry BARTLETT and his wife Marilyn, and Diane McLEOD and her husband Ian. Beloved Grandma of Michelle, David, and the late Cheryl. Winifred is also survived by her step-children Lynne and her husband Jim TURK, Robert BROWNE and his wife Leah, Darlene VACHON, Shirley BROWNE, and the late Eleanor LEBARRE. She will be missed by her step-grandchildren Jessica, Nicholas, Alexi, Lincoln, Sidney, Leslie, Solange, Lori-Anne, Stephen and Jeannette and her many great-grandchildren. Jeanne was a Hamilton General Hospital nursing graduate, 1938, and completed post-graduate studies at U. of T. Our Mom, and Nana, was passionate about her family, Friends, church and community. It is with great sadness that the Sutherland family an nounces the peaceful passing of William George SUTHERLAND of natural causes at Summit Place, Owen Sound on Thursday, December 8th in his 91st year. George joins his beloved wife of 60 years Marion, who passed away January 19th, 2002. A strong family man of proud Scottish heritage, George will be missed by his children Betty Lou LEMON and husband Walter, Marg HUNT and husband Ray, Willard and wife Ann, all of Toronto. A loving grandparent to Steven LEMON and wife Lisa, Janis LEMON and her fiancé Glenn COOPER, Jennifer GIRDAUSKAS and her husband Kris, Mitch HUNT, Ben▼ CARPER, Sam and Mark SUTHERLAND. Dear brother of Mabel TURNBULL (Sarnia▼) and Criss ROWE (deceased.) His love of family and community spirit will be missed by all. The long-time owner and operator of Maple Dell Farms, a mixed farming operation on 6th line near Massie, George will be remembered for his many community involvements, including leadership roles on the United Dairy and Poultry Co-operative, Gay-Lea Foods Co-operative, Holland Township Federation of Agriculturel, Holland Township Federation Junior Fair, Massie United Church, North Grey High School Board, Holland Township 4-H Club, Chatsworth Rotary Club and the Chatsworth Seniors Club among others. George was recognized for his contributions to the community when he received the Holland Heritage Award in 1997. In loving memory of Jessie Delena MUNRO, February 18, 1928 - March 7, 2005.
Jessie MUNRO, a resident of Milton and formerly of Kagawong, died at Milton on Monday, March 7, 2005 at the age of 77 years.
She was born in Campbell Township, daughter of the late Frank and Mary Jane (TURNBULL) HUBBERT.
Jessie and her husband Dave, who predeceased November 8, 2001, had attended the Salvation Army before moving to Manitoulin, then attended the Mindemoya Missionary Church. Jessie loved to read, and she had a great talent for writing. In all she wrote 5 books about the history of Manitoulin, as well as tracing the family tree. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, but mostly liked to spoil her grandchildren. Jessie was predeceased
by her beloved husband George David MUNRO. Loved and loving mother of Mark MUNRO of Arthur, Jane and Doug DAVISON of Georgetown, Robert of Arthur, Jessie and Jonathan WOOD of Milton, Ruth and Jonas STUTZMAN of Campbellville, Sandy and Janine MUNRO of Streetsville and Don and Sharon MUNRO of Aberfoyle. Proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren. Dear sister of Harold and his wife Alice HUBBERT of Sundridge and Carmen and his wife Aileen of Kitchener. Glen Evans, passed away peacefully in Chatham after a short illness on Wednesday, February 9, 2005, in his 91st year. A native of Chatham Township, he resided in Chatham-Kent all his life and served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1939 to 1945 on the H.M.C.S. Pictou. He is survived by his wife Christena (GILLESPIE) PUGH and his three children: Brenda CAMPBELL (and her husband Bernie) of Windsor, Vaughn PUGH (and his wife Martine) of Chatham and Patricia PLELI (and her husband Phil) of Windsor. Loving and proud grandfather of Ian, Peter and Jamie CAMPBELL, Colin and Kyla PUGH and Jillian and Christopher PLELI. Brother of the late Helen BURLOCK of London, Willard PUGH of Chatham Township and Owen PUGH of Dorchester. Douglas HESK of Goderich, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the age of 74. Loving husband of Flora (TURNBULL.) Dear father of Ron HESK of Windsor and Barb HESK and husband Steve JONES of Huntsville. Proud and loving grandfather of Holly, Dylan and Emily JONES. Sadly missed by brother Gordon HESK and his wife Joan of Strathroy, sisters Velma ROBINSON of Ottawa and Marjorie HESK of Hamilton. Also missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doug sailed on the Great Lakes at an early age, then served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1949-1952. In 1957, he married Flora TURNBULL. Doug worked at Champion Roads (Volvo) until his retirement in 1990. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, golfing with his Friends, reading, cutting his lawn and enjoying his home until suffering a stroke January 13, 2002. He will be loved and sadly missed by his family, Friends and pets. Special thanks to Community Care Access Centre, home support workers from St. Elizabeth Health Care, Town and Country Support Workers, Community Nursing and Adult Day centres. Edwin will be especially missed by his daughters Pamela HANDLEMAN, Jayne HYSEN, and his son Peter, and daughter-in-law Kathy, grandchildren Rowland and Gregory HYSEN and Ivy HANDLEMAN, son-in-law Paul HANDLEMAN, and former wife Joan TURNBULL. Predeceased▼ by his twin brother Richard, mother Rhoda PEAK, father Shaquier HYSEN and grand_son Peter HYSEN- BURDETTE. Ed was a musician and performed locally for many years. He played oboe and English horn with the London Symphony Orchestra (now "Orchestra London"). He was organist/ choir director at Robinson Memorial United Church for over thirty years, and founder of Hysen Music Ltd., a London based national sheet music and book distributor. For the last few years he enjoyed performing chamber music with many good Friends. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. WONG and the nursing staff of the University Hospital palliative care unit, Dr. DINGLE at the London Regional Cancer Clinic, as well as the nurses of St. Elizabeth for keeping him comfortable in his final days. Beloved husband of 59 years to Eileen (TURNBULL) CLARK and dearly loved father of Patricia CLARK of Vancouver and Barbara and her husband Ray BURGESS of Fingal.▲ Loved▲ grandfather of Richard, Craig and Steven BURGESS and the late David BURGESS. Dear brother of Rueben and his wife Donna Mae CLARK of Mount Elgin and the late Charles CLARK and his wife Jean CLARK of Mount Elgin. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Bill was born in Ingersoll on July 24, 1919, the son of the late Hezekiah (Kiah) and Josephine (SMITH) CLARK. He retired after 30 years with the Western Ontario Cattle Breeders Association. He was a member of Union United Church, was Secretery-Treasurer of the Union Cemetery from 1969-1987, he also was past Steward, Elder and Trustee with the Union United Church. Bill was a member and Past Master of the Dereham Masonic Lodge #624 Mount Elgin and an affiliate and Past Master of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge #94 Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, Port Stanley. Peacefully at age 77, with her family at her side, on Wednesday, February 2, 2005, in Toronto. Loving wife and cherished soul mate to George for 55 years. Mary was the dear mother of Deborah, Greg (Julia), Tim (Christine) and Ruth SCULLY (Rick). She was the caring, loving and generous Grandma and Numa to her grandchildren: George 'Sam' and Serey; Tyler, Lauren and Fraser; Matthew and Megan; Mary Sarah and Adam. Mary also leaves her sisters Ruth GREGORY, Jo Ann (Robert) WOODS and Carol (Nicol) MacNICOL, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Windsor by the late Harold Moore GREGORY and Florence Hanes GREGORY. Mary graduated in English at the University of Western Ontario in 1948. While she was attracted to pursue a teaching career, she turned her full attention to family after marrying George in 1950. Together they raised a family which carries on her example of interest in literature, the arts, travel, conversation, fine wine and Friends. A kind, gentle woman who was always a lady, she taught her family to respect and share with each other. Her philanthropic activities included support for the arts, university scholarships and medical research. Mary was active in church and community organizations, investment and book clubs, playing bridge, gourmet cooking and enjoying each day as it came. She and George were great travellers, particularly in retirement, exploring the world, making new Friends, and bringing back new stories to tell their grandchildren. Her twinkling eyes, squeeze of the hand and warm smile will be sadly missed. Bill TURNBULL (Mr. T.) Passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2005 at the Queen Elizabeth II Halifax Infirmary Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born in Hamilton, Ontario on June 20, 1925, Bill was raised and educated in Toronto, graduating from University College of the University of Toronto in 1950. After working several years with the Robert Simpson Company, Bill joined the Federal Government in 1965. Most of his career was spent with Parks Canada from which he retired in 1994 as Director General of the Atlantic Region. Bill had also been Regional Director in Calgary, Winnipeg, Cornwall and Quebec, the other four regions of Parks Canada, the only person to hold all five senior operational positions in the history of Parks Canada. He leaves many Friends throughout Canada and will be sorrowly missed for his wisdom and his sage advice - He was one in a million! Special thanks to Marge and Barry BOUTILIER, Mike LEVERMAN, Joe O'BRIEN and Bob EATON for their dedication and loyalty to Bill over the years, as Bill was confined to his home and depended solely upon his dear Friends to assist him with all his personal needs and shopping. Bill was predeceased by his loving sister, Marie McCRACKEN in 1990, and is survived by his nephew, Steve McCRACKEN (Lorraine) and their children Sarah and Bill, who reside in Kilbride, Ontario. To quote Bill, 'Life is a big circle, dying is part of living, and when your time is up, it's time to go, and there is nothing you can do about it.' At Bill's request, cremation has taken place; there will be no funeral or memorial service. Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Ferguson's Funeral Home, Montague, Prince Edward Island Burial will be at Mount Hermon Cemetery, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia at a later date.

Donald's family announce his death at the age of 83 on March 9th after a month's stay at the Trillium Health Centre in Mississauga. Devoted husband of Joan KITCHEN, father of Douglas TURNBULL and Janet IRVING and their spouses Elizabeth and John, and grandfather of Sarah, Christopher, Katie and Everett. Donald was a veteran of World War 2, serving for four years as a Canadian Lend-Lease Chief Radio Officer with the U.S. Merchant Marine. He was awarded four War Zone and Defense Bars and a "Torpedoed Seaman" award and received full recognition from the Canadian Government for his service. During this time he survived two sunken ships and drifted across the Atlantic on the disabled S.S. Macbeth. Donald's greatest passion was fishing at his beloved island in Georgian Bay. A private family memorial will be held on March 12th at the Turner and Porter Butler Chapel, 416-231-2283. In lieu of flowers, Friends may make a donation to the charity of their choice.

Mr. TURNBULL retired as President of Canadian General Tower of Cambridge, where he had been a faithful employee for 51 years. A strong family man of proud Scottish heritage, George will be missed by his children Betty Lou LEMON and husband Walter, Marg HUNT and husband Ray, Willard and wife Ann, all of Toronto. A loving grandparent to Steven LEMON and his wife Lisa, Janis LEMON and her fiancé Glenn COOPER, Jennifer GIRDAUSKAS and her husband Kris, Mitch HUNT, Ben CARPER, Sam and Mark SUTHERLAND. The long-time owner and operator of Maple Dell Farms, a mixed farming operation on 6th line near Massie, George will be remembered for his many community involvements including leadership roles on the United Dairy and Poultry Co-operative, Gay-Lea Foods Co-operative, Holland Township Federation of Agriculture, Holland Township Junior Fair, Massie United Church, North Grey High School Board, Holland Township 4-H Club, Chatsworth Rotary Club and the Chatsworth Seniors Club among others. George was recognized for his contributions to the community when he received the Holland Heritage Award in 1997.

Entered into rest after a brief fight with cancer at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 with her three girls by her side and in her son's heart. Bettsy's great pride and joy was her family. She will be profoundly missed by her children Carolyn (Neil) TURNBULL, Janice (Charles) WHITE/WHYTE, John (Marty LOCKHART) NEWMAN and Nancy (John MILNE) NEWMAN. Her love and sense of tradition will be missed by her many grandchildren and their families: Emma and Sammie TURNBULL, Tim (Rhonda MELVIN) WHITE/WHYTE, Alison WHITE/WHYTE, Liam and Colin WEBSTER, Rachel (Rick) KRUYF and children Teo and Mackenzie and Gretchen (Zeion WILSON) NEWMAN and their daughter Zuzu. She was predeceased by her first love, Samuel John NEWMAN to whom she was married for 34 years and her beloved brothers Donald Arthur, Wallace Emerson, Stewart Andrew, Bruce George and John Stanley and two sisters Marjorie Jean and Margaret Bernice BETTS. She was a dear aunt to Joan, John, Judy, Lynne and to Helen, Ralph and Bruce. On October 28th 2005, Don passed away peacefully at his home. The elder son of the late Russell TURNBULL and Kate BRETT, he is survived by his brother Neil TURNBULL of Bancroft, and predeceased by a granddaughter, Tara Lynn TURNBULL. A kind and gentle man and a generous father, he will be lovingly missed by his children and grandchildren: Steve (Lynn) and his children Shannon and Megan; Bob (Debi) and their children Russell and Heather; Barb McREAVY (Tom) and their children Mitch and Cassie; Jim (Penny) and their children Chris, Trevor, James and Jenny; Kathy COLLINS (Gary) and their children Emily, Frank and Mark; Lynn TURNBULL and Lori WHITE/WHYTE and her children Melissa and Samantha. He is also survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife the former Jean RUSSELL and his companion Marilyn GRAHAM. Don, the fifth generation of his family to live on the family homestead, spent his entire life in Mono Centre. Well-known and respected in the farming community, he raised prized-winning polled Herefords for many years. He was also known by cattle breeders of Dufferin County as an A.I. technician for 17 years. Following this he became a real estate agent for the John D. Hutchison Real Estate Agency. Although retired, his life-long interest in his horses continued to be his greatest enjoyment. A Celebration of Don's Life will be held at the Mono Community Centre on Saturday, November 12, 2005 from 1: 30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Orangeville Salvation Army would be appreciated. In keeping with Don's wishes cremation has taken place with burial in Burns Cemetery a private family occasion.
