late Harry
FURLONG of Scarborough. A devout wife and mother who
became extraordinarily wise and discerning. She accepted what
is, and in so doing knew the best thing to do in all circumstances.
She was down to earth, inspiring, and hopeful. The truth will
be heard, and it is this: Life is a mystery to be lived not a
problem to be solved. Once again, a Resurrection has followed
her Passion: be delighted to hear that she is now living in,
and with Nobility. The family will receive Friends at the 'Thorpe
Brothers Funeral Home and Chapel', 96 West Street, Brantford on
Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. with Parish Prayers at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Basil's Roman
Catholic Church, 50 Palace Street, Brantford on Saturday April
16, 2005 at 11 a.m. followed by cremation. As an expression of
sympathy, donations to the Canadian Food for Children would be
greatly appreciated. Thorpe Brothers 519-759-2211 www.dignitymemorial.org

BAIRD,
Jean (née
RAE)
Passed away peacefully in her 93rd year at the Bow-Crest Care
Centre in Calgary on Sunday, August 7, 2005. Jean was born in
Hamilton, Ontario, on February 23, 1913. She was predeceased
by her husband John in 1987. She is survived by her two daughters
Susan and Heather, sister Barbara
BROWN, grandchildren Joel,
Lindsey (Vance) and Meghan, great grand_son Grant, many nieces
and nephews, and numerous other family and Friends. She dedicated
her life to caring for her family, and we will carry her love
in our hearts for all time. Jean will be fondly remembered by
those who knew her for her wonderful sense of humour and her
great sense of adventure. In her 70's and 80's, she travelled
across Canada and much of the northern United States with Friends
Ron and Elva
TREW and Eva
BROWN. At 90, she packed her bags and
moved to Calgary to be with "her girls". At 91, she made her
debut as a calendar pin-up girl, appearing as Miss May, "Motorcycle
Mama", in a highly successful charity fundraising calendar put
out by the Fountains of Mission retirement residence. The family
would like to thank the staff at the Bow-Crest and the Fountains
of Mission in Calgary, and at other seniors facilities in Barrie
and Midland, Ontario, who have been involved in caring for "Jeannie"
over the past several years. As expressions of sympathy, donations
to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind would be preferred
by the family. There will be no service in Calgary. Interment
will be held later in the year, when Jean's remains will be laid
to rest beside her husband in the beautiful country church yard
at Waverley United Church in Ontario. Personal Alternative Funeral
Services, 7016 Farrell Rd. S.E. Telephone 403-216-5111
