Devoted mother of Robert TUCKER, Carolyn▼ GORDON, Susan McCLOCKLIN and Sally RUTLEDGE. Loving▼ mother-in-law of the late Andrew GORDON, James McCLOCKLIN and Wayne RUTLEDGE. Grandmother▼ to Katherine GIRGIS (Amir,) Robert GORDON (Jenny,▼) Patricia▼ PALERMO (Tony,) John GORDON (Cathy), William TAILOR/TAYLOR (Sarah), Jim McCLOCKLIN (Amanda), Suzanne BAJIN (Gavin,▼) and Garth RUTLEDGE. Great-grandmother of Madeleine and Benjamin GIRGIS, Cailyn▼ GORDON and Cole McCLOCKLIN. Vera▼ is predeceased by her sister, Evelyn PETERSON and by her brothers, Mr. Wilbur PETERSON and Judge Harold PETERSON. Of Sydney, Nova Scotia. Called by God at the age of 86, William passed away quietly surrounded by his family on January 15, 2005. He was the son of the late Joseph and Bridget (KENT) TARGETT, the stepson of the late Ned GRIFFIN. He is survived by his three sons, Bill (Kay), Markham, Ontario, Gary (Pauline), Cayman Islands and Brian (Cathy), Sydney, Nova Scotia and his grandchildren, Michael, Richard, Gregory, Cassandra and Jason, who loved their Papa very much. Also survived by one stepbrother, Gerald GRIFFIN of Toronto, a brother-in-law, Tom TAILOR/TAYLOR and sister-in-law, Peggy RYBA- TRAVIS, both of Sydney. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (CLEARY,) sister, Rita TAILOR/TAYLOR, brothers, Leo and Ethelbert, stepbrother, Eddie GRIFFIN and two brothers who died in infancy. Bill worked at the Sydney Steel Plant in the Bar and Rod Mill from 1937-1983, when he retired. He was a Veteran of the Second World War and served overseas from 1941-1946. He spent countless hours on the soccer field and at gymnastics events cheering for his grandchildren and will be missed terribly. He was devoted to his wife and family. His family invite you to celebrate Bill's life at a memorial celebration and mass at Holy Redeemer Church, Sydney, Nova Scotia on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Errol MacDonald officiating. PETTIT of Brigden in his 94th year went on to be with the Lord. Survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Dorothy (FOURNIE) PETTIT; son Larry (Diane) of Corunna, Daughters Sandra (Vincent) of Toronto, Marny of Brigden, Jane (Brian) RACHER of Petrolia, and close family friend Betty KILBRIDE of Brigden. Grandfather to Ryan (Chrissy), Brad (friend Kathryn), Rachael, Cemoy, Austin, Katie and Cody. Great Grandfather to a new baby girl. Brother and brother-in-law to Florence (late Melvin) TRAXLER, Nylene (late Claude) PETTIT, Stewart and Ruby PETTIT, Helen and Romaine VANDEVENNE, Margaret and Howard GRAY/GREY and Judy (late Dick) GRANT. Francis was born and raised on the family farm in Sombra Township. As a young man he attended Sarnia Business College. Later Francis operated the family farm and his own electrical business. He was active in the community through Bradshaw and Brigden United Churches, Moore Agricultural Society and was a 60 year member of Brigden Leopold Lodge #397. Dearly loved, and fondly remembered sitting at the head of the table to say "The Blessing". A former resident of Dresden, passed away peacefully at Fairfield Park Nursing Home, Wallaceburg on Sunday December 4, 2005 at the age of 86. Born in Dover Twp., daughter of the late Colin and Louise (EBERT) CAMPBELL. Gretta retired from Lambton Kent Composite School, Dresden in 1983 with 25 years of "Feeding the Troops" of adolescence, the creator of the unforgettable "Gretta Burger". She was a Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Br. #113 Dresden Legion from 1983-1985, and a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Dresden. Beloved wife of the late Lorne (Bud) SHAW (1994.) Dear mother of Peggy MUNRO and husband John of R.R.#6 Thamesville, Dan SHAW and his wife Julie of Dresden. Died Friday, 21st January 2005, in San Francisco, in his 57th year. Survived by his father Kenneth Lloyd COUPLAND in Toronto, Ontario; also by his sister Carolyn Patricia COUPLAND of Bath, England, his brother Peter Kevin COUPLAND, Vancouver Island, his cousin Mary TRAYNOR, Ottawa, niece Holly COUPLAND and nephew Rowan COUPLAND of Bath. Kenneth's final hours were peaceful and, surrounded by his Friends, he was happy to go. His mother Pauline Anita COUPLAND predeceased him in January 2004. Ken had a considerable reputation as a designer in multi media and as a writer on technical matters. There is no funeral. Cremation will occur in Oakland, California.
