TENNENT, David Richard, P.Eng.
The Tennent family are saddened to announce the death of David on November 22, 2005. He passed away peacefully at home at the age of 89 years.
David grew up in London, Ontario. During his teens, he participated in the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild Competition sponsored by General Motors. He built two scale model replicas of Napoleonic coaches, placing junior first for the Province of Ontario in 1932. The following year he won senior first for Canada and was awarded a scholarship that enabled him to study mechanical engineering at the University of Toronto. David was a lieutenant in the Canadian Army during the Second World War, in charge of the Army Corps of Engineers stationed at Goose Bay, Labrador. He continued his career in the engineering profession until his retirement.
There are so many happy memories around David. We will miss his humour, his stories and his kindness. Loved and greatly missed by his wife Joene and their four children, and sister Jean Johnston and family. Goodbye Dad. Your curiosity and passion for life are your gifts to us. May we take comfort in the memory of an extraordinary man.
A memorial service will take place at a future date.
